I bought this product after I originally went to the salon to purchase Re:Coil. I got a bit confused when I got there, not entirely sure what the difference between the activating Re:Coil cream was and the defining Details cream was. The employee kindly explained that she thought that since I already had curls, this product would be better as it would provide more hold and definition than the Re:Coil, since that was more for people with say, waves to give them curls. So I purchased this. Should have gone with my original plan, I think. This product has a few pros, such as it DID give decent hold (though I combined with a gel so it could be the gel), and the curls were actually pretty shiny. However, they did not feel soft,I had quite a few fly-aways after a couple of hours, and immediately I could feel the build up in my hair, despite using a modest amount. And that's not mentioning the TERRIBLE smell. I'm not sure what they were trying to go for, but it was the most awful product smell I've tried to date and that alone is deterring me from using it again; I'm going to exchange it at the salon and try the Re:Coil instead.

Re-review of this: Still saying it is great for definition. I must use it with a gel. But I got a lot of buildup over time with it. I swapped it out. :-(

I really did not have high hopes for this at all. All I can say is WOW. I get shiny, soft curls with good hold. I mix it with Re;coil or the liquid effects gel--get 2nd and 3rd day hair consistently. Great product. A little goes a long way!

This used to be a good product but I think they have changed the formula in the last couple of years. USed to really like it but I bought it a couple of weeks ago and hate it now. My hair feels crunchy and I can't even get my fingers through it no matter on how little I use.

I really like this styling cream. It provides good definition without a lot of weight or crunch. I have gotten good results mixing it with re:coil.

Offers good separation and definition but I like a little more hold. Gives nice soft curls.
