Smells great and works best for me as a second and/or third day hair smoother on dry hair. (to tame the frizz) It plays nicely with other products in this way. I would give it 5 stars but using it alone on wet hair did not give my hair the frizz hold I needed for the Florida humidity. It is awesome on my dry hair though...and I like that I can play with the amounts and make my 3b cork screw curls into 3a s pattern curls if I want to. Fun!

I'm impressed on how well it defines my curls without feeling heavy or crunchy. Really good product here! I used it with the Coconut Cowash and they work well together. I feel like I have moisture and definition without having to use a lot of product.

In Love with this product! It is light weight and smells devine. It was my first time purchasing and using this product and I was very pleasantly surprised at the the definition and the length of my curls. This is a keeper in my collection of haircare products!

3B This product is very good. The only reason I gave it four stars is because I can't use it alone. I still need some kind of gel with it to hold my curls. It works great under the gel though and it is great as a second day scruch in.

Hair type: mixed, 3C/4A. I like the As I Am line very much and the CoWash is one of my staples. The Curling Jelly is very light and does the job. However, I'd previously used the Kinky Curly Curling Jelly, and prefer KC over AIA. Decent frizz control, maybe it's how I used it, but I like the KC better.

I have found my HG STAPLE product! Finally! This jelly does what KCCC could not do for me. It's just strong enough to set the ever necessary curl cast, and just light enough to provide bouncy moisturized curls after I break the cast. I tired EVERYTHING from EcoStyler to Kinky Curly to Tigi to DevaCurl, and then I stumbled upon this line not expecting anything special....so glad I was wrong. I am now on my second jar, and the first one lasted two months. SO a little really does go a long way. Very, very pleased with this Jelly and happy to say it's found a place in my regimen.

I love this gel! After trying many many different products, I finally found something that works perfect for my 3c hair. I use it with Shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie or desert essence coconut hair cream. I get smooth moisturized curls that don't dry out or get hard. Its natural witch is a plus for me because i have a sensitive scalp. I love the fact that I can wet it a little or just add a little more of the curl jelly for 2nd or sometimes even 3rd day hair. I highly recommend!

The Curly Jelly defines my hair without it feeling crunchy. It doesn't elongate it, however it smells great and makes my hair look great.

My new favorite gel. It is pretty incredible stuff. Reminds me of Curly Kinks or Kinky Curls...same consistency. I can seriously say this is a great gel that holds well, seems to make my curls moisturized and touchable after using it.
I am 3A/3B and this stuff rocks my curls! (I even used some on a stubborn spot and it worked wonders!) Definitely a keeper!!

BOO! to this product. I knew I was in trouble when the instructions said not to touch hair until it dries. I applied a moderate amount of this product to my saturated hair after using the leave in conditioner. It went on to my TWA like a lotion and my curls began to start coiling immediately. The problem came in that I had that product on my hair with that white film for over 2 hours. It took forever to dissolve into my hair and when it finally did (3 hrs later) my hair was hard and crunchy. I hated this product and will never use it again. Nothing should take that long to dry on hair that's 2 inches long and to make your hair feel like paper...yuck. I had to wash that out of my hair and start all over. I have 4a hair and newly natural since my BC on 6/29/12.

This didn't work for my sister so, she gave it to me. Thank you Nicky! I don't own the As I Am leave-in so, I couldn't follow the directions exactly. First, I used it alone and got the most defined curls ever with a bit of crunch. (A little almond oil remedied it away.) I've also used it with a hair milk to achieve perfect coils. My hair was shiny, defined and bouncy!

Thick 4a, 3c in the front.
I love the smell but honestly it did not define my curls as well as I'd like it too. I used it on soaking wet hair, underneath the My Honey Child Coconut hair milk and then I diffused. To be clear, I shingled it in large sections with my Denman for even distribution and then I flipped my head over and scrunched it in. My hair was soft and there were no white flakes or residue but the back of my hair looked as if I put nothing in it. It did minimize my frizz though. The consistency is thin and it creates a soft so I guess it is meant for those with a looser curl pattern. I have used far better gels, including KCCC or ECOstyler so no I won't be repurchasing. I was disappointed!

When I used this with the As I Am leave in conditioner, it left my hair crunchy and full of white flakes after I got the crunch out. I used it again over KCKT and got better results when used with soaking wet hair (less white flakes than before but still had some flakage) and also had major shrinkage. The price is good for what you get and a little does go a long way but I will not repurchase.

It has an awesome smell but it's always crunchy & stringy in my 3b/c hair, maybe it's just me though.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong, help?

I have 4a hair and I bought this to try as a wash and go. I used kinky curly leave in underneath and when it dried my hear was white... I tried using for a twist out, same results. I like that it doesn't have that sticky feel like the kinky curling custard, but I dislike how my hair looks after using this product. I hope they revamp this product and make it better. I will not buy this again

I was so glad to see an alternate to my beloved KCCC at a cheaper price, HOWEVER, it is cheap for a reason- well several reasons actually. This stuff is horrible. I can't believe the good reviews it got. The first time I used it, I put it over As I Am Leave-in Conditioner and it flaked like crazy. It looked like it was snowing on my shoulders and arms. I thought that maybe I put too much. So, I tried again and used way less. Same results. Then I tried it without putting anything underneath. No difference. It also left my curls looking stringy. I have tried it every which way and it just isn't the product for me. I have 3c/4a hair.

Thank you to the previous reviewers! I am in love with the Jelly! It has given me more definition than the KCC, plus the consistency when I do a wet twist out is so much better than KCC. Thanks again Ladies

I was skeptical, but I wanted to try this because it was less expensive than purchasing the kinky curly custard. I was very pleasantly suprised! It has become my staple go-to product. I have natural 4a hair, i'm military and this product comes in very handy when I have very little time to get ready for work and don't have time to fuss with my hair. I drench my hiar with luke warm water add the knot to day(kinky curly line) and add the just as I am curling jelly finish let it air dry and i'm ready for my day. I use frank juice to keep my hair refreshed throughout the day or simply head to the restroom and spritz alittle water on my hair to keep it looking refreshed.

I LOVE this product. It consistently gives me beautiful curls that bounce. I apply this by raking it through small sections of my hair, over As I Am Leave-In. I have medium/thick, medium/low porosity, 3a (some b) curls that love moisture, and this makes them shiny and soft. It CANNOT be touched until hair is completely DRY, but the wait is waaaaaaay worth it. My hair doesn't do well in extremely low dew points, but I've used this on days when the dew point was pretty low and my hair did great. This reminds me of Kinky Curly Curling Custard, which is probably my all-time most loved curl product. It feels similar, and it gives similar results. A big difference, unfortunately, is that As I Am Jelly contains glycerin, which can be problematic in low dew points. As I Am also contains Aloe, which is a humectant, but in general my hair seems to react better to aloe than to glycerin. Curling Jelly's scent is light and yummy - like coconut with a twist of citrus. A little goes a long way, so my 16 oz jar will last for some time.

This gives me nice curl body if I want big curls. It allows me to make my shorter hair (bangs & crown) move wavy than curly, which is a look I like sometimes. This dries in a hard, crunchy cast, and it's the kind of cast where you think your hair is dry, so you scrunch, and it's only the "crust" that was dry, so you get major frizz. So be careful - if your hair seems to have dried too soon, it has. When this is completely, totally dry (which takes hours for me...) I can scrunch and get a look I like, but this doesn't hold nearly as long as other products for me (i.e. Kinky Curly Curling Custard). After the scrunch, however, this curling jelly leaves my hair remarkably soft and so, so shiny. This is wonderful for "bounce" but not as wonderful for definition. If I'm in the mood for a full bouncy look, this is a go-to product. A little goes a long way. Only a little bit is needed for each hair section, (trust me on this one). The first time I used this, I applied it the way I do KCCC, and I looked like I'd gotten a hair transplant made of 1970s telephone cords. This needs to be used with, at least, a leave-in, because it doesn't protect from frizz at all.

Purchased this product along with the Twist Defining Cream. It does provide curl definition for my 3c hair, but it makes it hard and crunchy. Unlike the Twist Defining Cream that I tossed in the trash, I still have this. I will probably return to it at a later time if I can find a way to get rid of the crunch.

The curling jelly really defines my curls. I have a lot of shrinkage though. I really like that it rinses easily and my hair feels soft and moisturized. I only have to cowash if I feel like it. The scent is not too strong and for me it doesn't linger. I like it better tgan kinky curly custard for the price, amt of product, consistency, and results. I still like kccc because I have never experienced flaking with it. Which is why I am giving four stars. I got flakes at first but now once my hair dries I rub a light oil in my hair and that has eliminated the problem. Overall though I am very pleased.

LOVE this product. I use it in conjunction with the Coconut Co-Wash and the Double Butter Cream following the CG method. The definition, shine, and hold is great. The smell of these products is wonderful. They all smell similar and I like that. The consistency is that of a loose jelly, for some this may be an issue but for me this consistency was great because it distributed through my hair very well. There was a bit of a crunch on day one after my hair was completely dry but it wasn't hard. I will definitely be re-purchasing this product in the 16oz size. I may buy two of them so I don't have to buy so often.

I didn't care for this gel. First off the consistency of the gel was runny and watery and it smelled weird to me. Secondly, I did not like the way may hair felt or looked, ( I used it as directed) My curls were not defined in any way and my hair actually laid flat to my head. Now, I currently have a TWA so I didn't need to use very much of it, however it definitely seemed to just sit on my hair and not make the curls pop. As for now, I am placing this gel on the back of my shelf, I will most likely try it again later on when my hair grows out alittle more. I won't cancel As I Am Curling Jelly out for now, maybe I will revisit this gel at another time when I have more length.

This is an absolutely incredible product! I usually never write reviews but this was too good to pass up. I used this after I used the cleansing pudding and the deep conditioner from the same line, and got incredible results! Shiny, bouncy, loopy curls (which I *never* get), no crunch at all, and held up all day! Usually I need to add a gel on top after I finish drying to tame any frizzies left, but with this product I didn't need anything else. I'll definitely be purchasing this again - highly recommended!

I have finally found my curly hair regimen! Curl junkie assurance conditioner and smoothing lotion and then this lovely jar of pure heaven and moisture. I usually don't even write reviews, but this product has worked so well for me! It not only styles and tames my crazy 3c curls, but locks in moisture extremely well without crunch or frizz. My go to on days when I feel like cutting all my new growth off, and sporting a short short cut again.

This is a great product for cooler climates. I used this product during a cold/rainy day and my hair was defined, frizz free and soft. This product smells great. This is the Gell i've tried so far. There's glyerin in it, but it'c performed well on days where there's high depoints. Usually I have a problem with glycerin products in high dew, as it makes my hair frizzy & sticky. Not this gel. It give a soft hold without crunch if you're not heavy handed when applying. Definetly reminds me of KCCC, but I actually like this much better. The results are more consistant. Leavin, oil to seal, gel...BLAM! Great hair. It's kicked KCCC off of my HG list as his gel rocks socks!

My twa craves this!!! I have tried Miss Jessies, but it did not moisturize as well as this and As I am is about $16 cheaper. I have also tried Kinky Curly, but it pudding left too much residue and was too heavy on my hair. The only downside is I will have to continue to mail order it since I can't get it at the local stores. As I am is perfect for me!

Wonderful product. I had lots of defined curls that felt nice and soft. I also got very nice 2nd day hair and passable 3rd day hair. My hair is mainly 3a with some 3b. My daughter's hair goes from 2a-b. This product is amazing on her hair. It goes into loopy curls. I will definitely repurchase. The price is great for the amount that you get and I don't find I need to go too heavy handed with this product.

I am a definate product junkie and hands down this is the BEST styling product for wash and go's that I've ever used! I've used it several times now and every time I get well defined, soft curls that last 3 or more days without having to restyle. It's similar to KCCC but better definition and not sticky. The curling jelly did define my curls, but I had more shrinkage than I would've liked. I think if I would've used the shingling method, I would've had better results.
