Styling Tips

  • Apply sparingly or liberally depending upon your hair's need for moisture and manageability.
  • Rub with palms and scrunch onto hair gently so that coils and curls are undisturbed.
  • Can also be used to set soft, lustrous twists and twist-outs.
  • Use a little As I Am DoubleButter Cream along with the Twist Defining Cream for in-between re-twist touch-ups.
  • Don't overuse. A build-up of emollients can actually work against your natural curl definition leaving your hair dull and matted.>

I tried this DoubleButter Cream by As I Am today and I absolutely love it. It defines and moisturizes my 3c low porosity curls. I cowashed my hair with the Eden Body Works Co-wash then applied this cream, and sealed with Miss Jessies Jelly Soft Curls, leaving me well defined curls. Next day hair was soft & crunch free. Will continue to use the cream.

I tried this DoubleButter Cream by As I Am today and I love it. It defines and moisturizes my 3c, medium density, low porosity curls. I cowashed my hair with the As I Am Cowash, then applied this cream, and sealed it with Pure Aloe Vera gel. I definitely will be using this product again.

Although i have low porosity 3b curls this cream is excellent for my high porosity front canopy as the c in the loc. Makes the gel i put on after, work so much better clumping and keeping moisture in. A staple and, since i only use a peasize, very economical. Love it.

Absolutely love this moisturizer! It always makes my hair so moisturised n good definition. I agree with another reviewer it is better to use it in the warmer months because in the winter it jus doesn't hold up but other then that this is a staple product. I have tried many moisturizers n none really wowed me like the double butter cream. I have 4b hair

My holy grail product! I love this stuff! My hair is always so moisturized and it gives great defenition on twists outs. It works really well for me in the summer not so sell in ths winter. The only problme i have with this product is the price for such a small container. But other then that its a great moisturizer and styler for my hair and i have yet to find another product that i like more then the double butter cream. Great ingredients also

I have 4c hair and this is consistently my favorite cream to twist my hair. My hair always feels soft and looks shiny and healthy when I use it. It's not too heavy and not too light--my hair absorbs this cream really well. And it smells divine.

I used this back when I big chopped and really loved it. It really moisturized my hair and left it soft.

The product really dried out my hair as well. I purchased the entire line--co-wash condition cleanser, the leave in conditioner, and the double butter in hopes of achieving the best possible results. Unfortunately, it was a waste of my money. I have very soft, fine hair (4c), so I guess it works better on other hair types. But it was a bust for me.

I really liked the smell, unfortunately this dried out my hair. I didn't feel like I was getting the moisture I needed from it. This product definitely didn't work for my hair.

I have tight coily hair and I used this on both wet and dry hair and I prefer it on dry hair. On wet hair I used it over KCKT but my hair felt dry and not moisturizer. I also used on dry hair with Curl Junkie curl enhancing spray and it works great and my hair feels moisturizer. It would be nice if the bottle would be bigger.

This product was recently reviewed on youtube and social media and the reviewer raved about it and I of course went out and bought it. It works best on dry hair but for my 4a/4c type hair did not work well to give me defined curls. The bottle was small and expensive for the amount of product that I had to use and just not worth the hype. I realized after using this product that I have to stop getting caught up in the hype of what is shown on youtube videos especially when the reviewer CLEARLY does not have my same hair type. The Taliah Wajid curly curl cream is MY alternative to this. It is what gives my hair the results that the reviewer raved about that this doublebutter cream did to hers.

LOVE THIS STUFF!! Smells great and works well for my thick dry hair. Keeps it moisturized for 2 whole weeks (when i'm feeling lazy) :P But this stuff is a must have for moisturizer. I have low porosity thick coily 4a hair (in my opinion).

I love this stuff. I'm transitioning and oddly, this works better on my relaxed hair than my natural roots. It leaves my hair feeling healthy and it smells soo good. It's definitely heavy so I suggest only tightly curled ladies and type 4s use this.

It left my hair so moisterized and nice soft hold to twist outs.....smells like sweet cake batter mix!!! Excellent shine! From the castor oil probably...
A little pricey but totaly worth it....a little goes a long need to out on every day..

I liked the smell and I could say it is ok as a moisturizer. Just that. It's a good product, but for that price I expected more. I'm not sure if I would buy it again.

I like this styler. It smells nice, and it has a soft hold (I used it for a curlformer set). The main drawback is that if you use a little too much your hair will feel coated with a residue (my hair is fairly low porosity too, though), but it doesn't look dull so it still works. I'm not sure yet whether it's worth the price, but I will probably be finishing this jar.

Im mixed (black and white) and have typical thick, dry and frizzy hair. I really wanted this to work for me, since me hair is always really thirtsy - but Iit did not work. For some reason, it coated my hair, leaving it with an oily/greasy feeling (and yes, a little goes a long way, but even with minimal use this was the result).

I purchased the double butter cream from this website over the summer. I have the coconut cowash and gel from As I am and was interested in trying a cream moisturizer. I really like this cream, my twistout was really defined and the smell is really pleasant just like the cowash. This is definitely a product I would purchase again.

I first tried this product in the summer, and did not like it at all- It made my hair look and feel greasy, I put the double butter away and got great results from using the As I Am leave-in conditioner and the moisture milk.

I tried the double butter again now that the air is drier and colder- and my hair loves it! I put on a very small amount after co-washing and using the leave-in. My hair is moisturized, and it feels soft and not greasy at all. So, I use moisture milk in the warmer more humid months, and double butter cream for the drier and colder months- My hair thrives with this line-

This cream is simply perfect! Its multipurpose; you can use it to moisturize or for twistouts. The smell is amazing, as with all of the other products in this line and it provides awesome moisture. You don't have to use it everyday and a little goes a long way. I'm completely sold on this product.

I like this quite a bit--I still prefer my Shea Moisture curl lotion for daily use during the summer, as I think the Double Butter is too much for my fine hair. However, this is perfect for twisting or pineappling my hair over night. It's not sticky, and has a light, pleasant smell. I'll probably up my usage during the dry winter months.

I have been thoroughly enjoying the double butter cream for my twist outs. My twists are shiny and they feel soft and fluffy. I absolutely love the product and my friends and family have noticed a difference in my hair regarding shine. This has definitely become a regular for me, I will be repurchasing very soon.

My hair LOVES As I Am products. I finally found my HG of products. I will be 7 Months natural on June 1. Believe me when I say, I have bought many products since December. I seen this in Sally’s and avoided it because of the price, and finally took leap of faith and bought the DoubleButter cream, The Moisturizing Milk, Coconut -cowash, and Leave in conditioner. My hair has made a complete 180 within 1 week. My hair type is 3c and As I Am leaves my hair soft shiny and my crown of my hair that was breaking is recovering. This Memorial day weekend I roller set my hair and when I took the rollers out, my hair was not frizzy the curls held all day Tuesday. I am very impressed.

I really liked this product, im a 4b/4c. I loved the smell, I loved the fact that I didn't have to put a whole bunch just a dime size amount and it kept my hair so moisturized but not greasy or heavy and shiny, loved it. Bought it from Walmart and surprisingly it was high there and I work and received a discount but other than that I love it and would definitely recommend.

I am in love with cream. It's so rich. It's thick but it doesn't leave a bunch of residue. My hair doesn't feel too heavy after using it. If you have this, there's really no need for the Twist Defining Cream.

This is my first holy grail for twisting. If you hair loves creams and gets weight downed easily you will love this. It is very moisturizing and twist outs are beautiful. It has no hold, so it is perfect for type 4 hair that typically does not need hold. This is the product by which all other twist and braid creams will be judged. I wish it was a little cheaper, but will only buy it with the 20-30% off sales.

Hair type: mixed, 3C/4A. I like the As I Am line very much and the CoWash is one of my staples. The Double Butter Cream is good but a little too thick for my liking. So I use it as a nighttime moisturizer, and the next day, my hair feels great. I hardly need to do anything to my hair the next day, because of the moisture. A little goes a long way. I also use it to set my hair in twists or braids. I get beautifully-defined kinky waves the next day.

I saw a review of this and had to try it.. let me just say OH MY GOSH!!!!!!! Makes my hair feel soft during these cold winter months and not greasy looking. I have used this in place of Miss J. I used it for my twist outs and my hair is very defined.. I re-twist at night with ease... Thank you As I Am.

This really is a creamy, rich, daily moisturizer. I use it to re-twist my hair and a little does go a long way. The combination of ingredients in the As I Am product line has helped my hair advance in the moisture retention category and I have gotten compliments on how healthy my hair looks and how fast it is growing.

I bought this the other day because the winter months dry my hair and split ends start popping up from every where. This product moisturizes my hair and makes it really shiny. It is thick but if you have thick hair that is thirsty that shouldn't be a problem.

I wasn't sure what to do with this product at first. I really am a combination of 3b/3c. The jar sat for a while until I decided to use it on my wash day on top of my leave in conditioner to amp up the moisture as my hair is very purous. I love it! My hair is much more soft and shiner. It's worth the cost. I have seen a great improvement in my hair.

I took me a while to figure out what to use this moisturizer for, but I am in love with it now! I have coarse coily and curly hair that is always thirsty for moisture. I tried to use this as a nighttime moisturizer before bed instead of baggying or adding water and sealing with a butter. I thought this would be a nice alternative because it has lots of yummy butters and oils but is water based. However, it really did nothing for overnight moisture. However, I used this product to do dry twists and it kept my hair so shiny and plump with moisture I was in shock! I sealed with Oyin Sugar Berries and my twists (and twist-out) were soft, so touchable, no greasy feeling. I had amazing shine and this lasted for 4 days. Probably could've been longer but I was ready for a new style. This is def my new staple twisting product for very high dews or probably low ones too. I also like that it doesn't have glycerin unlike their twist defining cream. Sorry to lead with the negative, this butter is awesome and smells delicious!

I like this product a lot. It smells nice, moisutrizes well and I don't have to use a lot for results. I used this for a twist out and my hair felt soft and conditioned. I just used small dollop through my old twist out to fluff and moisturize and my hair feels good. I know that I won't even have to add anything tonight when I retwist my hair.

I like the As I Am line.

Ummmmmmmm... No. I love the consistency, BUT it did not moisturize my hair. When applying it, it feels great like it is actually going to do something, but as soon it dries up, my hair does too. My hair ends up feeling like a Brillo Pad. Dry and stringy. It does well on my daughters hair, who is four, but not mine. I actually use the leave in as a moisturizer and it is much better. I give it two stars because I love the consistency and it is good on my baby's hair.

This product was too thick and creamy for me. The label does say "rich daily moisturizer" but I never need that much since I like my twistouts to be light and movable. Would only consider using this for slick, more rigid styles.

My hair loves it for twist outs, braid outs and everyday moisturizing. I gave it a 5 curls because, I don't have to use any other product after my leave-in when using DoubleButter cream!
