This product is meh. It gave me some curl definition but no moisture or frizz control. The smell is sickening to me. I like it better on dry hair but its not worth the money.

I've been using this product (still on my first bottle) for over a year now, and it is the best thing I've found for my hair so far. I am in my 60s with 2b/2c all-natural hair that is thinning and getting finer with age, so having a few thin, crispy spaghetti curls hanging around my large face is not a flattering look. With this product there is no crispiness, but instead naturally soft, shiny curls that I can tousle to give me more badly-needed body. As others have mentioned, the trick is to get a very small amount on the whole length every strand of hair, so applying to very wet hair helps to achieve that. For my chin-length fine hair, that means just a pea-sized amount. It is fun then to scrunch my hair with a micro fiber towel, and watch the curls take shape. Without this product, my hair seems to lack the "courage" to even form decent curls. If the wind should blow my air into a mess, or if I want to renew my curls the second day, it's an easy matter to just rewet and style my hair without adding any more product—it's still there, after all. Sometimes, to be quick, rather than tediously spraying my whole head, I instead put my head under the faucet and run enough water over it to just get my hair wet, but not so much as to rinse out the product. Then I go through my usual routine again. My hair often looks better after doing this the second day than it did the day I washed it. Perhaps that's because the product has another chance to get evenly distributed, I'm not sure. Until just this last month, I didn't even use a conditioner for fear of weighing down my hair, but just used Acure Shampoo, the Moroccan Argan Stem Cell + Argan Oil formula and Curl Junkie Coffee Coco Curl Creme Lite (Don't you just love these LONG names!) and my hair was not too dry. Recently, I've started using some light conditioners as well, but I can't tell that they're making much improvement, so when they're used up, I'm not sure I will buy more. Considering that I still have about 1 ½ " of this CJCCCCL left in the bottle, after consistently using it two or three times a week for the last 15 months, the price is not too high for me. I enjoy the fragrance, which is detectible only when wet.

I finally figured out how to use this product! I was debating giving it away, but used it in a hurry one day and really liked the results. I was able to get 2nd day hair with it, which I wasn't able to get before. The key for me was using a light, moisturizing leave in, and sectioning my hair. I raked the product through each section, and I had a really soft, defined hold. There was no crunch, which is awesome! I will repurchase, despite the price. I wish it came in a larger size.

I'm really trying to like this product but I can't seem to find how to use it :( I'm reading some of the other reviews so I need to try using it as a leave in conditioner?
One thing is I just cannot get over the scent. I just don't like it. Way too pineapple for me or something. I'm really picky about smells so sometimes I just cannot get past them.
I've tried this as the cream styler but more as a finisher after my gel. I just don't think it's adding anything or that sealer I'm looking for that other creams have done like recoil or curls rock.
    Anyone want to swap??

2/3 through the bottle and finally figured out how to make it work for me! i cannot use this on wet hair but i got amazing, cant kep hands out out hair, fresh salon results by doing flat twists on dry hair. i start with brow dried, air dried, or old hair. apply a little oil to the section then this mixed with a drop of eco styler. when i say no frizz, i dont think ive ever been able to eliminate frizz! i have 2 other 'curl cremes' (eden bodyworks and Donna Marie, both great btw)to use up and this will be the only in my arsenal. only 4 star bc i can only use on wet hair and is a little over priced even for CJ. will buy on sale though.

my hair:fine, low-med porosity, curly kinky corkscrews

It's just okay, not worth $20 for such little product. I have tried this and given it away. Like I said, it was okay but nothing to write home about. However, I just used it during my TWA phase on my type 3b/3c hair. Maybe if I had shingled/finger raked it in, my review would be different but unless it is gifted to me or I get a huge discount on it, I won't be trying it again. If you don't mind paying for it, I say at least try it! Hope this helps someone.

I purchased this based on the many great reviews. I have just discovered that I have curls and waves after losing most of my hair to chemo. This cream smells so good! It smells a bit like pina colada. I have very fine thin hair, most things I try weigh my hair down. This doesn't. While I think it is a bit expensive I also think it will last a long time. I recently learned about putting the product into wet vs towel dryed to help to ensure coverage. I have found my thin, fine hair does not like silicone. My favorite so far is the Curlisto Protein Boost or the Ouidad Protein Boost, both great spray on products that really beef my hair up, enhanced curls. I have just ordered the CG book as well to see if I can get some good tips Funny to have new hair in my 50's; I am enjoying it.

Hair type should be 2c. This is a great leave-in conditioner without being weighty in the spring and summer here in NE Ohio. Very light coconut fragrance that smells fresh and clean without being overbearing or nonstop. It leaves my hair soft and keeps hair protected from the high humidity frizz. I have been having consistent good days when the frizz forecast for my area is Frizzy forecast with using CJ Beauticurls Argon & Olive Oil Daily Conditioner as a cowash, cold rinse, Staying inverted over sink, use nickle sized CJ CCCC-L finger combed then scrunched/pumped into very wet, but not drippy hair, followed by quarter sized CJ CIAB applied the same way. Then I srcunch/pump while inverted with micro fiber towel to remove excess wetness, stand upright and use clips to crown and air dry. Once fully dry, I invert my head and slide fingers to scalp and gently shake hair at scalp. Voila!! Done! Happy, soft, bouncy curls and spirals!

I use this in lieu of a leave in on my med/porous normal texture hair. I like it, and it has nice ingredients. I'm a CJ junkie, but this is not my favorite products in the line. It does add a nice feel to my hair and makes it soft, as the gel doesn't dry as crunchy on top of it. I think it's a good option for a leave in that has a bit of styling power too. The only thing I don't love is the scent- too tropical for me.

This is the first time I tried a cream as a curl-styling that I loved! Usually the creamy stuff doesn't do much for me as it weighs my hair down but this one is great. I use the Curl Junkie Assurance Smoothing Lotion underneath and I really like the natural and healthy result. My hair is 2b/2c quite thin and very dry but with this combination of product it is really healthy, shinny and my curls have a nice pattern. The only reason why I don't give it a 5 curls rating is because it doesn't hold that well. But altogether I love it, would definitely buy it again and a little goes a long way so you end up having your money's worth!

This product didn't do much to moisturize my hair or calm the frizzies. In fact, by the time I got to the last third of the bottle, I ended up layering it with another leave-in conditioner. When I finally finished the bottle, I saw no difference between having it in my hair and not having it at all. So not worth the $20.

I've tried curl creams before and didn't like them, but I love this one! It leaves my hair very soft with softly defined curls, no crunch of any kind. I don't know if it's up to the most humid summer days, but it's my go-to for winter. Gels often leave me with a bit of frizz, especially on the ends, but CCCCL eliminates that. Try it!

Not loving this. Tried twice for 2nd day hair once when damp and once on dry hair. I used a small amount but both times ended up having to wash my hair. Way too greasy! I will try again as a product on fresh hair if it works I will update but as of now I'm really disappointed in this product. This is the 4th curl junkie product that just doesn't work for me.

Used this as styler & a second day refresher. Refreshed second day curls. Goes on light, smooth refreshing smell, moisturizing does not leave your hair hard like jel. As a styler provided some hold but not as much as coco curl creme.

Another one of my HGs, and it's also by Curl Junkie! There's a reason why this stuff has a 5 curl rating. I'm a little bit of a PJ so I play around with products a lot but sometimes I don't know why I bother because I can use just this and my hair will come out great. It gives just the right amount of definition, and great frizz control, without weighing my fine curls down (I'm fine, dense, normal porosity, 2b/c/3a with some 3b). It also makes my hair soo soft and shiny. And I love the smell, it smells heavenly! To me it's not so much piña colada as it is a light tropical coconut/pineapple mixed with bananas and vanilla. I mostly smell coconut, bananas, and vanilla, with just a touch of fruitiness. I use only a quarter sized amount of this, a little goes a long way, so this expensive little bottle will at least last me a long time, and I have dense, long hair. I'm nowhere near running out of my bottle, but when I am, I'll be sure to order like 5 more bottles. Oh and it works on 2nd day hair too. Don't ever discontinue this, I don't know what I'd do!!

I have to say that I am impressed with this product. It was recommended to me on a blog- thanks person who recommended it! It really does enhance curls on a head of pretty baby fine whispy hair. It doesn't weigh down my hair or make it look greasy, like pretty much every other product does. I had resigned myself to using Pillow Soft Curls, which I like a lot but it smells like fabric softener (on purpose) which I just don't get. This smells like pina colada and not like chemicals, I can even use it on dry hair to bounce it up a bit. I would completely recommend it.

I loved this as soon as I used it the first time. I am applying it to very wet hair after shampooing and conditioning and only squeezing water out with my hands. After raking about a dime size amount through my wet hair, I comb with a wide tooth comb and then coax into waves. I let my hair air dry about 3/4 of the way and then diffusing. I am getting the best waves I've had from any product in a long time and with no frizz and lots of moisture. The next morning I am squeezing a small amount into my hands and kind of scrunching into the curls to bring them back to life. This seems to work better than wetting first then re-applying on second day hair for me. The biggest problems I've always had are coarseness and frizz and in my dry climate this product is doing a good job...I am yet to test it in humidity!

This is a good product for my fine 3b curls! Smells great, super detangling, and a little bit of hold. (Works better with a gel or for 2nd day touch up than alone.) I gave it 4 curls because I don't think it's the *best* such product I've ever tried (I like the SheaMoisture Coconut Hibuscus Curl Milk nearly as well -- and it's much less expensive), but it is really, really nice for my hair, and I recommend it.

This is truly a year-round product for me. I pair it with a gel (BRHG for mega hold or SS FHG for softer hold) and it always gives me great hair. My 2B/3A waves/curls are wavier/curlier depending on the humidity and the type of gel that I use with this. In the summer, I add some CJ CIAB (used as a serum). CJ CCCC lite + CJ CIAB + SS FHG is one of my summer HG combos.

I've used this as a leave in, a curl refresher, and a styler under gel! And it's great!!!! It has great slip, it's very moisturizing, smells great, and lightly preps your curls for the gel. When you use it as a refresher it literally refreshes and re-curls your old curls. I've used it on 2nd day hair and was very pleased with the results. However, I wouldn't use it alone as a styler because it has a light hold (esp. for kinkier hair). But this is definitely better than the coco creme in the jar. It's on my HG list! Love it!!!

I bought this hoping to use it as a stand-alone curl cream, which doesn't work for me at all - nowhere near enough hold for my 2c/3a curls. It works best for me under a gel with medium hold - like AnGel - with a little CIAB on top of that. Some gels make my hair feel dry, but using this cream beneath really helps with that. I can also use it just with CIAB, but I don't get quite as much hold as I'd like with that combo. I took off one star because it's not that effective for my hair type as a styling product and really doesn't do anything alone, but I'm keeping the four stars because it is a really good moisturizer. I want to try the regular Coffee-Coco Curl Creme as well, to see if that works alone - or with CIAB - for my hair.

I love this! I use it under a strong hold gel sometimes, and I also use it on 2nd day hair or to SOTC. It isn't heavy enough by itself for my hair, but I never use just 1 product anyway. It's very moisturizing, helps give me clumpy curls, and smells like those big gourmet lollipops. This is definitely something I'll repurchase.

After reading the reviews about this (and searching forever for something to keep my curls defined without making them crunchy) I finally found it! I LOVE this stuff! it not only defines my curls and helps with frizz, it conditions my hair eliminating my need for a leave in! It's also lasting me a long time, I bought it a little over a month ago and I'm ALMOST only one fourth through the bottle. I only need to use about a dime to quarter sized amount (depending on the day's weather, or if it's second day or not), I have short hair, a little longer than a bob. I use it with Elucence Moisture Balance Conditioner and nothing else (just a little bit of plopping). I will probably never stray from this!

Love this stuff! I had a great hair day with this. I used it on wet hair and found it to be very moisturizing. Didn't leave my hair droopy or stringy. The smell was pleasant and I didn't find it to be overpowering. I really liked how this felt on my hair going on. I haven't used this alone yet, but with a gel over the top I had the perfect mix of hold and frizz control. I tried to use this to refresh my hair the next day, but didn't have great luck. I think it may have had something to do with my gel though.

I got some great curls with this alone. They started to initially form into a perfect pattern and then really coiled up when when I diffused. This makes the hair feel conditioned while its wet but then you feel some hold kick in as it dries. The result is a lot of softness and shine, and it really doesn't seem to weigh the hair down. It will be interesting to see how it works as a refresher. However, because of all the butters in it, I am a little concenered about build up and eventual weight so I plan to alternate CIAB which seems to give similar results, and I want to try them in a combo as well. Nice coconut smell, similar to the new Curl Fix.

This has proven to be an effective second-day refresher for my hair, at least once I learned to use it. I was using it on dry hair, as instructed, but then after communicating with Marsha - she's a sweetie - I learned that I could also use it on damp hair, and it has performed much better for me. The only thing I don't like about this product is the build-up. I find that I need to clarify my hair more often when using it.

I spent last weekend in the mountains, where the dew point was around 15 degrees. My hair gets flat and stringy without moisture, so I didn't take along any other products with glycerin (and of course no sulfites or silicones). I applied this on dry dried-out hair before an event Saturday night, and my hair seemed renewed. This moisturizes so well, helps define curls, and, best of all, helps keep curls from getting dehydrated. No stickiness or crunchiness and this smells fantastic. I'd used it often in my regular climate (50-60 degree dew points), and it works well, but this is just what I need in arid weather.

Fine, low-medium porosity, mid-back length hair; used this after rinse-out conditioner, no additional styling product. CCCC weighed down my hair- like another reviewer, it turned my curls into waves. I'm also not a fan of the smell. For my length and texture, I need a 'lighter' product with stronger hold- CIAB and CQ gel worked much better for me.

Decided to give up gels and been experimenting with curl creams/lotions. This is the best that I have tried yet. It goes onto my hair easy, defines and provides hold and frizz control. Rinses clean and doesn't dry my hair out. It also has a pleasant fragrance. Most of all, I am glad to find an all in one product. No leave in or additional moisturizer is needed. Glad I tried this product.

Never got this to work for me. It refreshed my 2nd day curls ok once when I used it with CIAB, but after an hour or so my hair frizzed and had no definition. Once I used it with gel and had nice hair, but never could replicate the effect. Every other time I used this my hair looked dry and frizzy and ugly. For the 2 times I had nice hair, I give this 2 curls. But its way too expensive for what it is. I really wanted to like it, too, because everyone on here loves the CJ products so much. I was really bummed it didn't work for me. I have 3b hair but its really dry and coarse and porous, so maybe I need to try the CCCC and not the lite.

This is a review of the CCCC lite used alone, after a co-wash and rinse-out conditioner. It smells and feels amazing first of all! As it goes into the hair you can feel it moisturizing and softening it. After air-drying, I got extremely soft waves - not curls (it actually turned my curls into waves). So in the end, it gets plus points for soft, moisturized, natural-looking medieval waves, but minus points for no hold (I can see why people put a gel over this). Since I hope to find an all-in-one styler, I'll keep looking.

I love this stuff. It's perfect because I have 2c hair that gets weighed down very very easily, so I don't like to use too much product. This takes place of a leave in and curl cream, and does a great job of defining curls. I'm not sure that it provides much hold, I've used Mop Top anti frizz gel over it every time. It's very moisturizing, my hair feels so soft. I was afraid of the coffee coca scent, I don't really like either of those smells, but it was such a light smell that didn't hang around.

Very happy with this product. Worked great with Curls in A Bottle. Not sure I like the idea of the PEG-8 Dimethicone in it though.

FANTASTIC! This has to be the best curl cream I've ever used. It's a perfect combination of moisture/hold/curl enhancement. It works well with Curls in a Bottle for added hold.
