I adore this shampoo. It is by far the gentlest I've tried AND it leaves no residue which is needed for my low-porosity, build-up prone hair. The only quip I have is that I find it hard to spread on my scalp, so I end up using a lot. Haven't thought to shake the bottle first... maybe that will help. Anyway, using a lot isn't great because this shampoo is very expensive. However I will keep using it because it is that good. Random side note: This shampoo works excellently in soft water, but not as well for me in hard water, for whatever reason.

This is a nice sulfate-free shampoo. I prefer Shea Moisture and DevaCare/DevaCurl because they are more moisturizing than this one, but it is good - gentle and does not strip and does not have a strong odor.

I have fine hair and this is a my favorite shampoo. It is very gentle: I use it daily in the summer and less frequently in the drier months. I recently started using it on my 6 year old's straight hair and it helps to prevent the tangles that I previously combed out. It also smells divine!

A very good sulfate and protein free shampoo. It does have glycerin so I only use this during the spring and fall (and switch to their Argan shampoo during summer and winter). It doesn't leave my hair dry (it isn't as moisturizing as a co-wash but shampoos never are!).

This is my favorite cleanser thus far. In general hair cleansers don't get me nearly as excited as conditioner, but over time this one really impressed me.I used to use the Jessicurl Hair Cleansing Conditioner, but it gave me frizzy hair the first day of using it, so if I washed my hair twice a week I would have at least two bad hair days. I'm not sure if it was just too strong of a cleanser or if the avocado oil made my hair frizzy. I tried co-washing, but it doesn't work for my low porosity, build up prone hair. This shampoo lightly cleanses my hair, leaving it soft and less tangled. It also lasts forever. I'm about a 1/3 of the way through the bottle and bought it in May. I do shake mine before using, because I have noticed the separation others have described here. It has a very watery consistency that makes it easy to distribute. I usually let it run down my fingers, then use my finger tips to apply it directly to my scalp. After I massage my scalp, I add more water and let the suds rinse down my hair.

This has been my only product from CJ that I haven't been blown away by. It's still better than most low poos I've tried in that it's very gentle. I also like the scent. However, the texture of it is a little too runny, and I feel like i have to use a lot of it; it tends to glob on sections of hair and is hard to distribute. I feel that the Daily Fix cleansing conditioner cleans just as well, and I much prefer it. In fact, for someone who is scared of cowashing, you MUST try Daily Fix. It's truly amazing. I'm not sure i will repurchase the cleanser now that I've found DF.

3.5 stars. This shampoo has a mildly pleasant sweet smell. There's not much lather with this shampoo, I appreciate that. This is one of curl junkie's strongest cleansers, if not the strongest one, so I was slightly let down. It cleanses the hair mildly-how I imagine co-washes should work for me. I alternate this shampoo every other week, week after a clarifying shampoo, or the week after I have used lighter hold/high quality styling products because it is a mild cleanser for me (I am heavy handed with gels, refresher sprays and oils). Overall, curl junkie has some of the best products on the market for curly girls.
My holy grail shampoos are Blended Beauty soy cream shampoo and Jessicurl gentle lather shampoo to give you an idea of what is superior to me.

I love this shapoo! I just tried it for the first time, and love the coconut smell. I have curly whirly type hair, and the smell is lovely, and leaves my hair really clean, soft, and shiny.

Since I love the Argan & Olive oil Conditioner from Curl Junkie, I decided to try the shampoo as well. Unfortunately this product does not do the trick for me at all, and leaves my hair feeling stripped and tangled.

I did just notice that it looks like my bottle has a layer of milkier/thicker shampoo in the bottom, so it might be a good idea to shake it before use.

Works just like its name. Gentle cleansing. My hair felt clean and not extremely dry. I have two daughters we have 3 different hair textures and it worked great on all of our hair

I used this several times and each time my hair is left super dry and squeaky clean, and it takes a full week before moisture is returned to my hair at an acceptable level. I now use it for hand soap since I never need my hair this clean. This product is for oily hair not dry hair types.

Nice sulfate-free shampoo. It cleansed well and didn't dry out my hair, but I've gotten similar results with other products. I could see myself repurchasing, but wouldn't necessarily call it a must-have.

Wow and Wow! Love this shampoo. My hair felt clean but moisturized at the same time. Not something that happens very often when I shampoo. Curl Junkie is always a winner for me.

Actually, this shampoo cleans better than you'd think (since it's labeled as "gentle"). I no longer use silicone products, however. I guess GCS wouldn't have worked as well for me as it did if I had silicone in my hair. BUT I was highly surprised and pleased when I realized it works fantastically well with KCCC!--which is as finicky as anything. So I am throwing some love to CJ Gentle Cleansing Shampoo. I also love the smell. +++++ all the way!

This shampoo is wonderful. Nice scent and it leaves my hair clean and soft and conditioned. My hair is very thin but with the curl junkie line my hair looks thicker and healthier and dare I say it, shinier? And after reading the other reviews, I realize I wasn't even shaking the bottle first so I'll try that next time!

I use this shampoo a couple of times a week and it's been wonderful for me. I agree that the new version is a big improvement over the old version. It smells wonderful and makes my hair feel clean, slightly conditioned, and healthy. It also gives my hair more body. I agree with a previous poster - you do need to shake the bottle well before you use it. That seems to thicken it up a little more and makes it suds a little more. I'm taking one star off only because I do have to use quiet a bit of it and I go through it pretty fast. Otherwise, it's awesome.

I am not in love with this, sadly. I usually don't use shampoo, but like to keep one on hand for times when I have build-up or just want a deep clean. I didn't feel like I got that at all with this product- I actually had to add some of the Daily Fix conditioner to really wash. As it doesn't do any heavy lifting, this might be a better bet for those who shampoo daily.

I absolutely love this shampoo, but I am surprised that they don't put the most important instruction on the label: SHAKE BEFORE USING!!! The product separates, and you get completely different results after shaking it.

THE perfect shampoo for curly hair! This is my #1 favorite shampoo. The new formulation is much better than the original for me. My hair is very dense. I could not get the older version distributed through my hair. This formulation is distributed better, however. And I love the coconut smell. :) ...I use this almost every day.

Awesome sulfate-free shampoo. It left my hair feeling clean and soft, not dry and stripped like regular shampoos. A little goes a long way. I have a feeling that the bottle will last me a long time. I previously used the daily fix but this shampoo gives more of a clean feel. Love it, will definitely become a staple product.

This stuff is great for my 3a hair that has been color-treated. I'm a product junkie, and I use maybe five styling products on my past the shoulders hair. I worry about getting all these products out when I shampoo. This shampoo lathers just a little, smells good, and is kind to my fine, coarse hair and it cleans well. Not squeaky clean, but just clean enough. I encourage you to try this shampoo. You'll love it.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this shampoo. I was hesitant to buy since I thought it may be too drying for my 3a/3b fine, dry, porous corkscrew hair. I currently use the Daily Fix, and love it, but needed a little something more to cleanse my hair a bit better. This shampoo is amazing. My hair is clean, has body and my curls have spring again. No frizzies at all and it absolutely did not strip my hair . It has a consistency like Jessicurls Hair Cleansing Cream so it takes a bit to get used to. It is somewhat thin and produces a VERY slight foam (not too much at all, just right). It goes on easily and my hair felt clean and moisturized after. Smells great too...Kind of like coconut. HIGHLY recommend this to anyone thinking about purchasing. Excellent product.
