I love everything about this product. The smell is excellent; not too heavy , just a hint of chocolate. I used as day after my wash and go, made my hair super soft and non greasy. I just dampened my hair with spray bottle and then used Sweet Cocoa Bean Curl Smoothing Cream. Did not take a lot. I would recommend you give this product a try if you have very dry hair.

I have 4b high porosity, oil loving hair. My hair did not love this. I washed, deep conditioned, and let my hair air dry until it was slightly damp. Hair felt good. I used this cream in the loc method, and sealed my ends with a shea butter blend. The next morning my hair was not moisturized at all, and it frizzed up after being out in the summer heat. My hair did have nice definition though. I tried it again-this time on dry hair- and my hair still wasn't moisturized or frizz free. Not for me.

This product is excellent to use for braid outs. My hair was moisturized and my braid out was plump and shiny. Will always repurchase. I just wish Darcy would offer a larger size because I get nervous when I have one bottle left.

    First impression...

I washed my hair and deep conditioned/detangled with DB Pumpkin Conditioner + Cocoa Bean Hair Oil. After rinsing, my hair was very smooth and moisturized. I wish I had stopped there.

I applied this cream to dripping, wet hair...as usual. However, by the time I left the shower, my hair began to look frizzy. I assumed that meant I needed to add more product, but more just sat on my hair and didn't really absorb. It was very white, which wasn't a big deal...at first. I applied more of the Cocoa Bean oil to seal and sat under the bonnet dryer on cool air. When my hair dried, it felt really dry. It also had a faint, chalky, white cast to it. I slept on it overnight and refreshed it with a water spritz and steam from the shower. Even with added oil, my hair never really appeared to have shine or sheen. My hair was soft, but it just didn't have the appearance of freshly washed, moisturized hair.

The good thing about this product that it is very rich and creamy and a small amount does go a long way. The scent...it smells like a pack of hot cocoa mix. Not exactly chocolate-y...definitely cocoa-y.

The bad is that it will take forever to finish the bottle and I have no idea how to use it. I may try it on damp, not wet hair. I may try it as a rinse-out conditioner...but it doesn't seem to have much slip. The description states that this cream may be used as a leave-in or styler; so, my expectation is that this one product would perform double-duty like my beloved KCKT. This one missed the mark.

This makes my hair less frizzy and really moisturized and gorgous! However it kind of smells like playdoh.

This is my new HG leave-in conditioner for my thick, dry, super porous, color treated 2B/2C hair. Gives perfect amount of moisture and tames my frizz like crazy without weighing my waves down. I love the fact that it is glycerin free as I have struggled to find a good leave-in without glycerin. The chocolate smell is really strong when you first put it in, but I don't notice it after my hair is dry. It also seems to play well with my other stylers (Re:Coil, Biosilk Rock Hard Gelee).

Love this! I put it on my hair wet, then finish off with organix coconut oil. Makes my hair touchable and soft. My only complaint is the smell. It's AWFUL, like stale chocolate or something. I wish they would make a nicer scent of this stuff, given how well it works!

Ultimate Holy Grail styler. I have fine hair and a mixed curl pattern throughout, and this clumps my curls perfectly, offering a smooth hold that's not crunchy or overbearing. I use this for twice weekly wash n' gos (w/ finger coiling!), followed first by a good cowash with Elucence Moisturizing Conditioner with a little left in. Great shine, bouncy curls, great smell! I'm going to roller set with this as well. Previously used SheaMoisture Smoothie as a styler but it took forever to dry and wasn't ideal for my fine hair.

Mmmmm. This is very good, imo it's better than Oyin handmade honey dew. It has a slight hold in my hair and it's soooo moisturizing it causes my curls to clump. I use it for wash an go's and my afo puff (it's small but very cute. I get tons of compliments). It's sold out on curlmart so I have to order directly from Darcys site. I order multiples bottles so I won't run out. I could resort to the curl junkie curl creams but I can't see paying for something that I don't believe is better than this. Amazing product :-)))

I feel an HG love affair coming on! I tried it on dry hair when I received it. It didn't do a thing for me. But, oh, when I put it on my wet hair after a wash and condition, the curls and coils popped to life. I only wash n' go, and I'm always on the hunt for something that reduces frizz, shows off my curls and doesn't leave my hair dull. Check, check and double check. Once my hair dried, I still had shine almost like I did when it was wet. My only regret with this product is that I didn't buy more than one bottle. I'll definitely be repurchasing.

I have 4b hair....which I don't like to put into a category. I tried this on dry/damp hair and it is AWESOME. This is now one of my staples. It smells just like Cocoa and it's not greasy...it has kept my hair moisturize. It thick so a lil goes a long way. I so LUV this stuff...it doesn't shrink my hair either....that's another plus.

My hair is a mix of 4A and 3C. This works best on dry hair as another reviewer said. Don't use it on wet hair. It works well with a denman or similar brush, even a comb. I used it on 2nd day wash and go hair, put some on my ends and up, brushed/combed it out and really like how it defined my curls while still having body. It smells great and leaves your hair soft and moisturized without being greasy/too oily. I don't have as much shrinkage with this as I do other products I've used so that's another plus. If you're going to do a wash and go, let your hair dry first before using this. You will have better results. I would buy this product again but I want to try the whipping cream next.

Excellent leave in after I wash my hair. I used Karen's body beautiful as my initial leave in after I wash, then I let my hair air dry until it's 90% dry. Then I use this and seal with coconut oil or the Darcy's Coconut Butter Pomade. Perfection!!!!!! Especially for the super cold winter we are having in Toronto this year. I HIGHLY recommend this product :) PS my hair is 4a/4b fine high porosity

So, with my mainly 4b, but also 4a 4c hair mix, I was definitely nervous to try this out of fear that it might be too light and not moisturizing enough but I am so glad I bought it! It is literally one of my staple products because every time after I finish washing my hair I apply this as my leave in and it makes my hair extremely soft! It is a cream and has the smell of chocolate but if your worried about the smell or you don't like it, the scent fades pretty quickly once the hair is dry. I think this is an excellent moisturizer and it is my absolute favorite leave in. Of course now, when I tried using it alone my hair felt dry so of course with my hair type I've learned to always seal and layer because I don't know about you guys but my hair eats up everything. Overall an awesome product Im stocking up.

I think I may have made a review about this product previously but now I have new results =) I use this on my son's hair...he has super coily hair but it's so soft and dry. I put this on his hair soaking wet like after a bath and it gives him the best curl pattern. It really moisturizes his curls. Very pleased. I am kind of disappointed that it's not available at Curlmart

I have to say that I really like this product so far. If you enjoy the scent of chocolate, then this will definitely be enjoyable, but if not, the scent fades fairly quickly. It's not sticky, and you can feel the difference in your hair right away. As long as you work it in, a little can go a long way. I used it on my mother's 4c hair, and it worked well as a moisturizer, and n my own 4b hair, it worked wonders. It does what the title says -- "SMOOTHS". I had a very dry twist out, and after working the product into decent-sized sections, my hair felt so soft and I didn't have to fight to remove any tangles. I can actually see a curl pattern in my driest areas with this cream! Layering it over existing products seems to help revitalize hair and makes for a refreshed twist out after being redone. I give it a thumbs up~

Good for moisture and curl definition. I wash my hair at night, and in the morning I use refresher spray and once that has dried, I scrunch this cream into my ends for added moisture / definition. I have very fine hair and this doesn't weigh my hair down but then again I only scrunch it into the ends and avoid the roots. It is glycerin free so I can use it year round. Sometimes i skip the refresher spray, scrunch this into dry hair and then wet my hands and then scrunch again so the water activates the cream, and air dry. If your hair is really parched / coily, you might need something more heavy duty.

This is definitely one of my favorite moisturizers/styler. My hair is MBL dense, fine, and low porosity. I use this as directed, on top of my leave-in as a styler, or to re-moisturize my hair. Even though it says it can be used to detangle, FOR ME, this is not the best detangler but on dry hair that's been previously detangled I have no problem getting any minor tangles out. With that being said I like it on both damp and dry hair. It has a loition-y consistency and even with a lot of hair I don't have to use a lot, however, I find that I run through this because I reach for it so often! It has a very light cocoa/chocolate scent that smells awesome. If I want a bit more hold, I use a touch of the coiling jelly.

I was shocked at how well this worked for both my hair (4a) and my daughter's hair (3b/3a). When I find something that can work for both our hair types, that works for me! It makes her hair much easier to manage, as it helps to smooth out tangles very well with very little use for too much of it. For my hair it does the same thing. I seal in the moisture with Jamaican castor oil which kind of nullifies its tasty smell, but it is the results I'm looking for more than smell. My hair is soft and fluffy even during these colder months. It doesn't end up dry, even the next day! Sometimes I wonder if I will even need to moisturize it the moisture is locked in so well. On those days, I just do a light maintenance on it to keep it feeling so wonderful. You won't be disappointed when you use this product. It seems to do very well for 3's and 4's as far as I can tell.

My hair is low porosity with a mix of 4b/4c and this stuff is the TRUTH! It doesn't weigh my hair down or leave it greasy. I'm not very heavy-handed with my products. A little goes a long way, in my opinion. You will not be disappointed in this product. I like the price too. I will definitely try some of the other products from the Darcy's Botanicals line. I'm a customer for life!

I lovvvvve this stuff! I've been using it for about 8 months now and it's so good for moisturizing during the colder months. I've been pairing it with the cocoa bean hair whip by Darcy's and that combo has my twistout looking and feeling amazing. With lasting moisture for about 3/4 days :)

Love this!! I found this to moisturize my hair and give it more definition than the pumpkin seed conditioner. The only gripe I have about this product is the smell. It smells nothing like vanilla, but more like chocolate and it is a bit nauseating. But the smell goes away once you work it into your hair, which is a relief. I dont think I would be able to continue to use this product if the scent lingered in my hair. But overall a fabulous product, soft moisturized and defined curls.

First of all, I love the smell! So dreamy and chocolately but also light. I used this on dry second day hair and it works wonders! I flip my hair over and rub it through my curls on the underside of my hair, then spray a refresher over the top layer. This cream leaves my hair so soft! I have not used it on my damp hair yet, but I'm curious to try it. I took off a star because when I used the cream on the top layer of my hair it weighed it down a little and looked somewhat greasy. It just took a little experimentation to find what works for me.

I have relaxed, fine, low porosity, dense, thick 4a hair. This stuff is the BOMB! I've tried almost everything that you could use to moisturize my hair every night before I seal, and it either made my hair sticky, dry, or nasty feeling. However this leaves my hair soooo silky and smooth. Better yet, it doesn't weigh my hair down! It says curl smoothing cream, so I was kind of skeptic at first, but it's amazing! I suggest this to anyone- relaxed or natural- to try this if you have hard to moisturize low porosity hair!

I am actually type 3A. I found this too creamy, or too oily for my hair. It caused a lot of frizz and poofy-ness so I had to rinse it out. Very strong fragrance. Good ingredients--maybe I could use it as a hand cream but not on my 3A hair.

This is really nice, I give it 4 stars because I like the pumpkin seed moisturizing conditioner better for my hair. This is thicker (obviously it is a cream) and seems more appropriate for winter. I've been using it in spring and it moisturizes my hair and leaves it soft (I put it in twists and pin it up so I don't know how it works for a twist out). I don't favor the smell but that is my personal preference (smells like cocoa butter). But it is a pretty good price and lasts a while since I do my hair twice a week. Great stuff!

I really like this cream. It's moisturizing and can be used on wet or dry hair. I especially like it for my daughters 3a-3b long curly hair. I just wet it and applied the cream in sections. It detangled her hair and set the curls perfectly. I will be purchasing this again. Quick tip-to experience optimum results with these products, you have to use them together. Use the pumpkin seed conditioner as your base and then the styling products. This is when it worked best for me.

Loved the smell of this product!! I only gave it 4 stars because I haven't used it in all the ways that I plan to. It is very good as a moisturizer leave-in cream for my type 4 hair. Didn't really work on my hair while wet. Then again, not many cream leave-ins work on my hair while it is wet. Damp, it works! Will repurchase this! I'm thinking that Darcy's is my new favorite LINE!

I wanted to love this product, but it was just okay. It worked for me like an average/below average conditioner would. The product is thick, no slip--because it does not contain glycerin. I knew this before I bought it, but KCKT and Giovanni direct leave-in don't have glycerin and they get 4 star ratings from me. My hair is tightly curly and dense and I apply leave-in as soon as I get out the shower to wet hair in 10-12 sections. Next, I apply a heavy styler like gel, so when I can't rake and smooth the final styling product through because my a hair is starting to dry a little--a leave-in is no bueno for me. It smells delightful like hot cocoa and has descent ingredients, but this may work better as a rinse out conditioner or pre-poo for me :-(

3C/4A Sweet coco dreams this stuff smells good and is relaxing I tried this and didnt think it provided much moisture until I styled my hair at night and woke up with lots of shine and my hair just fell into to place. This works good on Twist, Twist-outs, Bantu Knot outs :D an awesome product. Honestly before I bought this I was using Garnier Fructis Smoothing Cream which is more watery than this product BUT I am very pleased with how this has been working out for me. I am trying to not use gel at all because I don't like to crunch that it leaves behind and I am leaning towards a smoothing cream to hold my hair and control the frizz. This stuff is it! It's a thick consistancy and a little goes a very long way. I am not too particular with the smell because it smells just like the product states, cocoa bean, but this is a great product. The first product I have tried from this brand and I'm pleased. Ready to try more products from this line!

I LOVE this Cream!! I pray she never stops making it. I have fine Curly/ Wavy hair and I hate having crunchy hair from gel and this allows me to have hold and the soft hair I like to wear. The smell is delectable and not overpowering. It's thick like a lotion but goes on nice and the slip is Amazing. A little goes a long way. I layer this over my Curl Junkie Argan Oil Conditioner and Smoothing Conditioner. I am even able to have 2 - 3 day hair which is rare for me. My hair stays moisturized which is great. The cocoa butter is much more gentle on my hair than Shea butter. I actually prefer it over Shea so its nice to find a product that contains it and actually works. Great buy for the price. It also worked well over KCKT & Paul Mitchell's The Conditioner. I just wish it came in a larger size. Well a sister can dream can't she??

What I love most is I can use this to refresh or detangle without rewetting in between washes and it gives great definition and shine without having to reseal. This smells SO good - chocolaty vanilla yum. I used it on damp hair and my 2b hair turned out really curly and smooth without using any gel or diffusing (which is awesome because I didn't have to expose my hair to any heat and still got nice fat curls). I really love all the Darcy's stuff I've tried - today I used the cleansing cream, followed with pumpkin seed condish as a rinse-out, then put this cream on, plopped my hair and then let it air dry and wow, my curls popped! It didn't take much, gave great slip (I didn't use a comb at all, just my fingers and my hair was buttery smooth) and is light enough to not weigh down fine hair. Love it!

It's light, but it smells SO DECADENT!!! I wish I could eat it. This is one of the few moisturizers that sinks into my dry hair. I don't have to spritz it with water beforehand, my hair just drinks it up on its own! Very moisturizing, conditioning, and softening. While it does smooth my hair and give it sleek sheen, don't think this is supposed to be a gel or styler -- it's not that kind of "smoothing cream* LOVE IT!

Though this is not a straight butter product, it is my first use of a heavier "buttercream" type product. I have very dense hair and I think heavier butters are usually recommended for that. I used the cocoa cream both by itself and over Loreal anti-humidity leave-in and both worked okay but not great - felt like there was a film on my hair that I didn't care for, and my curls weren't well defined. I then tried this mixed 50/50 with KCNT and the combo worked very well. I picked the KCNT specifically because its ingredients are mostly plant extracts with no oils or butters so it cut the heaviness of the cocoa cream. There is curl definition, hold, and my hair doesn't feel like there is any product in it at all. I had nothing to scrunch - very soft outcome! I still have some very mild frizz but it is not a bad trade off for soft, natural looking (not producty) hair with nice looking curls. I think the best part is that the product reduces shrinkage. Flax seed gel is the best for elminating frizz but the shrinkage is crazy on that for me. I'll continue the combo through the rest of the winter since neither KCNT or the Cocoa Cream have glycerin (or protein!).

Love this product!!! I have a mix of 3b/c and 4a hair and I love how soft and tangle free this makes my hair. Love it as a leave-in and as a refresher. I used it on 3rd day hair to do a ponytail and couldn't believe how easy it was to run my fingers through my coils even without water!!! Very moisturizing and love the chocolate cake batter smell! This is a new HG for me.

Love this stuff! Nice thick consistency but distributes well. Makes my hair very soft!! Used it as a leave in but my favorite is as a refresher. I put some on dry 3rd day hair to do a ponytail and was able to finger comb through with ease! I have a mix of 3b/c and 4a hair and couldn't believe how soft this made my hair. Very moisturizing and to me the smell is like chocolate cake batter!!! New HG for me.

I saw this on the swap board and couldn't resist! First thing you notice (as the name would suggest) is the wonderful aroma, reminiscent of Ghanaian chocolate. The texture is creamy like a lotion, and a little goes a really long way. Which brings me to my one complaint: the first time I used it, my hair was soaking wet, and I used too much. If I had been able to read the microscopic instructions, I would have known to use a SMALL amount on DAMP OR DRY hair. Once I made the correction, I had defined shiny curls with no frizz without the need for a leave-in conditioner. I've been using this as my primary styler, with consistently good results.

This bottle will last me quite a while, but I will definitely repurchase once it's finished.

This is my HOLY GRAIL/STAPLE leave in yall!! First off, it smells like a Hersheys chocolatey, cocoa buttery cup of vanilla beans lol. It looks super loose and liquidy in the bottle, but once you pour some into your hand and rub it in, it feels like a wet cream. The slip is AWESOME, and the moisture allows me to go several days without having to re moisturize. Definite repurchase!!

I really like this product! Although a little strong, I do enjoy the scent. My hair stays moisturized for a few days at a time, which is a plus for me. So overall, I would buy it again.
