I hated this brush because I felt the bristles were not rigid enough. I have very thick 4b hair and this brush did not stand a chance against my hair. I thought the brush teeth was gonna snap and break off, and my hair could hardly get through the teeths of the brush. It was a struggle and the plastic teeth was too flexible and not sturdy. Ended up losing unnessary hair. This brush in my opinion is not good at detangling kinky hair. It seems to work best at brushing looser textures. I ended up giving this brush away to my sister who has a looser curl.

I purchased a Denman-like brush and it fell apart while I was using it. I opted for buying the "real deal" and I certainly see the difference. It's much sturdier. My hair's not even that thick, so I feel that the "real" version will do its job. It's definitely a better quality product.

The brush is great,a little bigger than I thought also a little heavier.

Absolutely love this brush it is great for my tight curls and runs through them so easily when my hair is wet. I now most natural girls steer clear from using brushes but this brush is a must have. Great for my son's hair too!!

This brush rips and breaks my hair out no matter how gentle I am. I even modified it. I don't understand the rave reviews about this brush.

Great buy, I love this brush. Really helps with the detangling of my hair.

Love this brush as a styling-curl-maker! Please do not use this brush to detangle because it will basically rip curls out depending on the thickness of your hair. Simply finger or comb detangle your hair with your leave in or styler then take the brush and use it to form curls at the END of your hair. Don't try to brush through your scalp with this brush because you'll want to cry. Lbvs

I have to say, even though this brush tore out more hair than I would have liked, and even though I have to section my hair into micro pieces for it to go through, I really like using it. It detangles my hair in a way that none of my previous combs have, and in the brush's defense, the very first few times I used it I was having a detangling problem, so hair was bound to get ripped out. I think it will be easier in the future to get through my hair, and that losing the amount of hair that I did at the beginning will have been a necessary sacrifice. Hopefully this is true! For now, I enjoy the brush.

Okay, so lemme start off by saying this brush is not meant for detangling, it's a STYLING brush.. & I knew that I didn't buy it for detangling but seeing so many mixed reviews about it's detangling properties I thought I'd give it a try. HORRIBLE experience, ripped my curls out & I NEVER seen that happen to me before, my hair is really easy to detangle (3b hair) but omg! Lol but as for the purpose of the brush (styling) absolutely LOVED it. Made my curls pop & gave me hella volume. LOVE IT! But as I said before, please do not buy this brush to detangle only cause it'll just be a mess! Lol

I'm currently transitioning and I was very very wary about brushing my hair. Of course, with any brush, you should be careful, and I only noticed a few hairs were taken out. it makes my hair frizz free and it's so bouncy. I don't know what it is that makes these brushes so different but it's working.

Just great. Good to define the curls, but it leaves me hair too short.

I do not use as often, because I finger detangle. But this product is must to have for tough times of knots and kinks.

I fail to see why everyone raves about these brushes because for me they are MAJOR HAIR RIPPERS ! I have fine thick 4a/b coily hair & I've tried 2 different Denmans & have even altered them by removing rows & teeth, used slip & slide conditioners but the end result is always a ton of broken strands left in the brush. I prefer the Tangle Teezer, Wet Brush, Sageman Magic Star Rake, & Ouidad Double Detangler. I lose VERY little hair with them & still get nice popping curls with KinkyCurly. I still have the things in my stash in case some miracle occurs ! I think these combs are best for people with very coarse thick strands...what we used to call "horse hair"...that can take any kind of perm or manipulation short of being set on fire ! My fine hair cannot take relaxers but curly perms were ok til I went natural.

I love this brush, and I love the curls that I have when my hair is wet, but I am still trying to figure out how to "style" my hair with it. Maybe I'll try it with a blowdryer on a cool setting and see what happens. Like another reviewer mentioned, I notice huge amounts of shrinkage after using it, and my hair is short to begin with (shoulder length).

The Denman is easy to clean; detangling is great when your hair is wet, but go slow so you're not pulling out your hair. The brush does need some sort of grip on the handle, it's flown across the room a few times already when i've been detangling my hair.

I finally got up the nerves to see this awesome curl definition so often spoken about. I used it with a leave-in conditioner in my wet hair after wide tooth comb detangling - and wholla - I can say that this brush works very well for my hair.

I decided to detangle with the comb first because I have read that this brush may cause split ends. It's just my own precautionary measure.

Once you realize that this is for STYLING/SMOOTHING and not detangling, you'll understand why it's a 5 out of 5.

I take out every other row of bristles and it's PERFECT for defining my coils and smoothing out my hair for shiny, long lasting twist outs. staple hair tool throughout the years.

Overall, this brush is pretty great. My curls are defined, shiny and bouncy. However, there is SO MUCH SHRINKAGE! I have below shoulder length hair when straightened, and my normal 3c hair is about shoulder length. But after brushing with the Denman brush I looked like I had cut four inches off of my hair. But as long as you don't mind looking a little shorter in the length department, the Denman is a much have.

After removing three rows of bristles, I love how this brush gives my waves/curls more definition (3B/3C). However, I only gave it four stars because the handle is not ergonomically correct (hand cramps after detangling) and becomes extremely difficult to hold when using on wet/conditioned hair. At this price, Denman brushes should have padded, slip-resistant handles.

I think my hair is much too coily for this brush. I even tried modifying it like I've seen some other type 4s do, but that didn't really work. I think I need a conditioner with exceptional "slippage" to get it through my hair. I know other people love it, but I don't think I can use it. I don't like the way it disturbs my fragile curl pattern.

Love this brush, but it will pull your hair out if you are not careful. I use the Hercules Sageman combs to detangle my hair and I have a HG every time I use them. I rarely use my denman brush unless I am trying to smooth my hair into a pony tail. I rated it five stars because it is a universal brush and it will get the job done.

I like how it defines my curls and smooths the product through my hair. It is thorough when I detangle with it. I use it after I use my wide tooth comb. I would just say be gentle while using it as with any detangling tool.

This is probably one of the best things you could ever buy as a natural. It helps detangle my hair in no time! It is way better than my old comb I used to use. This is a must buy.

I detangle my hair weekly, just for the sake of not having knots, shed hair and tangles in my hair
but because my hair defines on it own pretty easily when i condition, deep condition and use a leave in, the denman, takes out all my curls so when i am detangling, i will always have a conditoner in my hair.. detangle.. wash then condition again. so my curls pop, so people who can pretty easy catch better coils and curls... this is good advice
only bad thing is that it messes up my curls.

    4a, 3c in the front

I can't rave enough, this brush has changed my life in terms of detangling my hair in the shower. It's excellent and clumps my curls together perfectly. Afterward I can literally run my fingers through my hair and I've never been able to do that without lots of pain from my wide tooth comb! It's so efficient that I've noticed way less shed hair than when I use my wide tooth comb to detangle!!! LOVE IT. Additionally, it's so easy to clean!!!! I use it every day (I'm a daily co-washer), since I purchased it I haven't had one "Fairy/Sigle-Strand Knot". Now that's amazing for a coarse type 4 such as myself!!!! I highly recommend this brush for everyone!!!

I love the Denman Brush! It's just perfect. When detangling, it gets the job done. Wide tooth combs always seem to leave shed hairs behind. And those shed hairs attach to other hairs causing knots, tangles, and breakage. The Denman is thorough and pretty much gets every shed hair. I use it with LOTS of conditioner to prevent damage. I also modified the brush to fit my needs.

I love my new brush. It's replacing a 20-year-old cheap plastic brush that came with a hair dryer. It seems to reduce frizz and enhance my curls. Apparently finger-combing and scrunching wasn't distributing the products well enough.

My hair is a combination of waves and spirals, very thick (2C). I only use the brush when my hair is wet and well-coated with conditioner and other products.

I like that it works, just concerned about the potential ripping of hair. I will not use this brush often for fear of creating split ends. I suggest using this brush when you have tons of conditioner in your hair and when you have the time to be gentle.

Absolutely amazing! I have thick 3c curls that are a combination of corkscrews and waves, and experienced little to no breakage. My Denman is the only tool i use to style my hair. I recommend styling hair while wet.

Detangle my 3c fine hair with this? Funny. This tears my hair out regardless of how gentle I try to be or how much conditioner is in my hair. I do find it can be used to get curl definition which is the only reason I gave it two curls.

I rated it 4 because it works well when I'm trying to enhance my curls with a curl enhancer product in my hair. For example, when i would apply Miss Jessie's curly pudding, i would use the brush through to enhance my curls
