this product rocks!!! its not sticky or goopy or gross like a lot of pomades i have tried. i like that there is no silicone in it. i use this on dry hair on days 2 and 3 when needed. it helps to seal split ends, give my hair extra shine and bring the bounce back into my curls. my hair just looks so awesome when i used this! a little goes a long way- i apply a pea size amount in each of 7 sections and scrunch it in. my hair is long and thick so usually i need to use so much more of a product. this is good stuff right here.

This is one of my staple products. If you don't use it correctly, it can be a mess. But, if used the right way (which took me several attempts) it makes curls soft, shiny, defined, and totally frizz free. And it gives me lift at the roots and at the crown so my hair looks bouncy and layered and not like a crispy triangle.
I have super curly/kinky/wavy hair and I like to do only wash and go. I've found that if I use this product on hair that is about 80% dry, it has great results. I smooth it onto my edges and then separate my hair and smooth it over whatever stylers I have already put on my hair. It adds such great shine and bounce.
The key for me is that my hair has to be mostly dry and my hands have to be dry while applying, otherwise it doesn't distribute well.
This product is also great for second day hair. Before bed you can mist water all over your hair, smooth this over sections, then put into a pineapple, your hair will look awesome second day.

OK - so I use all Deva products, and have good results with "Lo Poo" Shampoo, Deva One Car Conditioner, ArcAngel gel, and the Frizz Free volumizing foam. I just started using these products about 8 weeks ago, so I got a little ahead of myself and bought the Set Up and Above since my hair has been doing so well.
I am not pleased at all with it - it seems like too little does nothing, too much makes you look greasy. As I look above, I see it is highly rated for 3a's and I am more of a wavy girl with curly on the sides and in the back (ie somewhere in the 2's), and soft wave on the top. That could be it - or I am not using it right. But I am really not pleased with it at all. I would try it before buying it if I were you.

"Hell, what happened to my hair!" No matter how hard I try to lift the roots with clips, as it was drying, it still appeared as though someone hit the back of my head with a frying pan. It robbed me of my waves & curls, told me "You're a 1a now" and laughed in my face about it as it gave one last wave of it's wand, creating an illusion that my head was now in the shape of a triangle. And there was nothing I can do about it but clarify & frizz. To give the benefit of a doubt for this product, I do know one person who uses it and she has incredibly gorgeous curl formation and sheen (and not the Charlie kind). Just wasn't my idea of heaven.

This is great for volume. It can make my hair look about 2 inches shorter than I want it to look, so it's not a go-to product for me. This will probably be a staple for me when I'm in dry, low dew point climates, because it doesn't have glycerin. If you want tighter curls, this may be one to try.

I love this stuff but it does make me go a little crispy when I try to refresh on day 2. Not digging the plastics in it either.

My hair is 3b and mid-back length. It is pouffy and frizzy without a product. This Set Up stuff said to use generously, but I used a moderate amount and ended up with no frizz but stringy greasy looking hair. How disgusting! The first product I've ever just thrown out.

This product is great!!! I use it on my short curls to add lift and definition after scrunching in AnGel and drying with a diffuser.
I just spread a dab across my fingers and rustle/scrunch through my roots. It creates wonderful volume too! If used properly this product works miracles.

I love this product. I use it in my medium length 3b wet hair along with Devacurl anGel. I do not have frizz and end up with wonderfully defined curls.

I have to disagree with the previous ladies. I like this product. The smell to me is kind of citrus like, it doesn't smell bad at all and it dissipates. I love this product to give me maximum hold if I am using DevaAnGel or for second day hair after I have misted with Mist-er Right and I put this on top by scrunching it in. Set it Up and Above is a great addition to the Deva product line if you are looking for extra hold, breaking up your curls after they are dry or your curls need a little peep on second day hair. :))

Have to agree with previous poster, this product stinks!! I like mostly all the other ones I have tried especially One C conditioner. I have tossed this one in the trash! Yuck!

I'm a 3b curly girl and am generally a "Deva devotee" - I use almost all of the products Deva offers with continuing satisfaction...except for this one -- it leaves my hear gummy and sticky and is the only Deva product that I not only do not love - I just HATE it to the point where I'm actually throwing it out -- a total waste of money!!
