I gave this 5 stars because of all the clarifying non-sulfate shampoos I've tried so far, this is the least drying for my 2b/2c hair. I rarely need to clarify since going silicone free and co-washing, but keep it on hand for those times when I feel I may have a build up of product. It is a little drying, but did not leave my hair feeling like straw. A little extra leave in conditioner took care of the dryness, along with a few drops of jojoba oil scrunched into dry hair. I like the Elucence Moisture Benefits shampoo for after I've colored my hair and absolutely love the Elucence Moisture Balancing Conditioner. I love this product line!

Love this shampoo. It leaves my scalp feeling so refreshed and clean. I use to have an occasional itchy scalp with my previous shampoo. Since switching to this, no itchy scalp at all! I love it! I will continue to purchase. The smell kind of smells like a medicated shampoo I use on my dog but it only smells while you're washing your hair. That's why I didn't give it 5 stars.

I have fine, wavy hair so it is easy for me to get buildup. It gets the job done but I would not use it every time I shampoo since it can strip a lot if used too often

I've been using this for a year and it does a great job at cleansing your hair but it also dries it out. I like to shampoo my hair once a week. One week I used vo5 moisture milk shampoo and my hair felt clean but not, deep condition with cjmr and my hair felt moisturized. The next week I shampooed with this and deep conditioned with cjmr with heat and when I rinsed the conditioner out it felt like I never shampooed at all. My hair was dry as hay. I tested vo5 with cjmr again today and again my hair felt wonderful. So with that being said this shampoo would probaby be good for someone that uses hard core grease or silicones. I will finish the bottle but I won't purchase again. If I want to use a sulfate shampoo I'll stick with vo5 moisturizing shampoo.

I love this shampoo! I have fine, frizzy, 2c hair, and it feels so clean and bouncy after I use this product. You're supposed to leave it on for a few minutes, and you can actually feel your hair plumping up as it sits there. Also, can't beat the price!

I've been using this and Elucence Moisture Benefits shampoo for a while and my scalp started getting really angry at me--flakes, burning, itchiness and lots of shedding. For the most part I wash my hair every day, which I know is a no-no, but I don't like product build up on my hair and co-washing never seemed to work for me. I don't use cones but sometimes Wen's wax styler and Camille Rose's Fresh Curl which has castor oil in it. I have ceased using Elucence and switched to SheaMoisture African Black Soap line and I'm loving it!

This works great as a clarifier! It smells really nice and definitely cleans my hair. However, while probably one of the gentler ones, it still can strip hair a bit much so I use the moisture balancing conditioner to follow.

Very good shampoo. It cleanses but doesn't strip and you only need a small amount to get your hair clean. You can also shampoo twice and your hair still feels awesome. Will definitley repurchase when the time come. This is better than giovanni tea tree shampoo. That left my hair feeling like straw and a tangled mess. I love this shampoo.

I am new to all of this. I was addicted to suds and all the names at my local CVS. But I love this shampoo. It clarified my hair without making it feel like straw. Very happy. It has a great smell too.

Excellent shampoo. I have tried multiple sulfate free shampoos that honestly lefted my hair feeling like straw. I have used this shampoo twice and both times my hair felt moisturized but clean. I really do like it. Great ingredients as well.

This clarifying shampoo is the best shampoo ever! I have really hard water in my area and some of my products build up on my hair, so I decided to try this shampoo and WOW. You only need a dime-sized amount (I needed a little more than that because I have long hair) to completely clean and it sure does the trick! This shampoo cleaned my hair without stripping it and also gave my limp, lifeless, stringy hair a more defined curl pattern. Awesome product! The price can't be beat! :-) I love the Elucence products!

I am reviewing as a Type 2c (some 2b) with fine, thinning, healthy hair that is totally natural, having had no coloring, straightening chemicals, or hot tools used on it. I purchased this shampoo for the volumizing effect it advertises. At the same time, I purchased the Moisture Balancing Conditioner, and have so far only used them in combination with each other. After using them several times now, I am ready to report that I am happy with my purchase. My hair is shiny, with bounce and swing, and I have not been able to detect a relaxing of my curls, which form very naturally in their round ringlets without any stiffness or stickiness. Meanwhile, I have as much body as I think it's possible for my few hairs to have! I should add that I use softened water and added a tiny bit of Curl Junkie Coffee Coco Curl Creme Lite as my only styling product. Being winter in Indiana now, the humidity is very low, so it will be interesting to see how these products perform during the high-humidity summer. Before this, I was not using any moisturizer (just shampoo and CJCCCCL), because my past experience has been that moisturizers weigh down my hair, but this combination does not do that, and now my hair looks shinier and healthier.

Fairly good product I have 2C hair and I'm very happy with this product. I also got the conditioner and that's OK. I mostly bought this due to the chemicals used.

I have a combo of 4ac hair and my hair loves this shampoo! It feels moisturized and clean without that strip-y feeling. I really like the smell as well. A little goes a long way because it can get very sudsy. I definitely recommend this shampoo.

This is my 2nd time purchasing this shampoo. Its the only 'poo to calm my scalp through what is usually a dry, flakey winter....and it kept the oilies at bay throughout last summer. Finally found a keeper!

I liked this shampoo. I have tried this shampoo a few times and it does not dry or strip my hair. I really don't detect much of a difference from the elucense moisturizing shampoo except color, smell, and consistency-I haven't compared the ingredients thoroughly, though. Elucense shampoos comes in 2nd to Blended Beauty's Soy cream shampoo for me. I have tried many shampoos and this is definitely going to get your hair clean, but it is super-lathery (if you like that) and I think this contributes to a more difficult detangling process for me.

I have high volume, low porosity hair so it can be difficult to get a product in and out. But this shampoo was easy to gently lather in my hair and scalp and rinse out. It made my curls very happy!

I really love it!! this shampoo leaves my hair soft and shiny and weightless....after using this and a good conditioner my waves turned into beautiful spiral...
I live in the north of Italy where there's no information about how to treat curly hair.. but I found this website and god, this was a reveleation!!! I had to spend a lot of money to have this product in my hand but I would do this again!!

I'm using this shampoo for the first time and I LOVE it. I use it with the Elucence Moisture Balancing Conditioner...the combination keeps my hair clean and soft. I still retain my natural curls and it even gives them the bit of oomph they need to last all day. Gentle, nonabrasive, and smells great!

I am usually too lazy to write reviews for products, but this one is so shockingly amazing I had to find the time to write one! I have been experimenting with CG method for about a year or so and only have good results the first day or two after I clarify. My hair would soon get flat, straightish, stringy, flyaway, no root curl, etc. etc. I kept thinking I was overconditioning, and then that I needed protein. But my hair was always so dry right away after DT. I was about ready to give up when I developed an itchy, burning scalp with hair loss and almost like an oily, smelly, yellow sludge on my scalp. One day I noticed that there was some kind of film in the bottom of my water glass. I scraped it out and it looked like crystals. I searched online, and BINGO-calcium carbonate in my water (and building up on my hair). So, I ordered this shampoo not expecting much, and boy was I wrong about that! This shampoo COMPLETELY cured my problem. After just one wash, my hair felt softer like the conditioner had penetrated, and I noticed more root curl, definition and scalp volume while my hair was still wet. When dry, it looks fluffy, defined and feels soft even without product. I am absolutely amazed and can't believe it. My hair is back and I am beyond thrilled. Anyone with hard water should give this a try! Make sure to let it sit in your hair for a minute before rinsing and thoroughly but gently massage your scalp! BTW, I am a 2C/3A with some 3B. :)

A really, really good clarifying shampoo. Why?

    1. Only need a teeny tiny amount for a headful of clarifying suds. This one bottle will last me more than a year, seriously.

    2. Smells so lightly but lovely--clean and fresh, but not oppressive.

    3. Cleans totally. I use a lot of oils and product, and while my hair is superdry and needs gentle treatment, sometimes, I need a good supercleanse. This supercleanses.

    3. Look at that price! I'm so used to pricey curl products, where shampoos can run 20 bucks, that anything under 9 bucks starts to stun me. In a good way.

I just clarified today. Love this.

I love this product for clarifying my 4A hair. When I feel like I've overdone it with the styling products, particularly oils and pomades, I use this to strip them away. My hair is really cleansed and smells gorgeous afterwards. I'm doing the CG method of cleansing, but everyone once in a while, like every other month or so, I reach for this "poo" this for a really deep cleansing.

My hair: 3c/4a I shampoo with this once a week. This is the gentlest clarifying shampoo I have ever used. It gets rid of all of the build up in my hair from the week, which then helps my hair react better to the styling products that I use. The price is great and I never have to use a lot. It is definitely a very thorough cleanser without drying your hair out.

I really like this one. It gets my hair so so clean. A lot of the products I use are packed with botanicals, which is good, but botanicals really build up on the hair fast. So this is an excellent shampoo to use now and then to remove that buildup. My hair reacts much better to styling products -- giving me better curl formation and less frizz -- if it's really, really clean.
