Sadly this product didn't work for me. While it did moisturize my hair, the oils in it added extra frizz and it didnt even clean my hair. 2a - 2c

Love, love, love this stuff. If you've tried the CJ shampoo, this has the same texture (and similar scent, even, in the island fantasy), but I have to use less of this than the CJ so it will last longer. I love them both, but this tops it for me due to the fact that my $ will go farther. The key is to add a bit at a time, then add water, then a bit more until you get a slight lather.

I personally did not like this product for my hair. The citrus lavender smell is horrible! I found there to be no slip for finger detangling. My hair did feel clean, but this was nothing special. I really hoped for moisture while cleansing but this product did not deliver. For the price, I will buy something else.

I am very pleased with the Cleansing Cream, and I'm especially thankful it can be purchased with "no fragrance". I have sensitive skin and it's difficult to find shampoos/conditioners on the market without fragrance. With 4c hair this shampoo is a God send, it's moisturizes and my hair doesn't feel like hay after I rinse. Thanks for making this product.

I am 3A/3B with high porosity, fine hair curly. I do really like this shampoo; the slip is decent, both scents are quite pleasant, and there is just a little bit of suds, but not at all stripping. My only complaint, and only reason I don't give it more stars, is the cost. At $16+ I just can't afford that. The best alternative I've found is As I Am coconut cowash and As I Am cleansing pudding. I use them both. Love the product, just way too pricey!

Good cleanser but it has some difficulties with cleansing coconutoil which I put on my scalp once a week. Consistancy is thin which is good for spreading so you don't need to use a lot. If I did not have to put coconutoil on my scalp regularly I would buy it again.

HG!!! I was using CJ Daily Fix before, but over time it weighed down my 2a strands, so I was looking for something lighter when I tried this product. Found a 32oz bottle on the swap board for $35 so I jumped on it and I'm so glad I did! This is great at getting my curls clean without leaving them weighed down or stripped. A little goes a long way so I don't think I'll need to repurchase until next year! Well worth the investment (and I am very cheap) and a great compliment to my shampoo bar routine! Highly recommend this product!!!

I have 4C hair. I LOVE THIS STUFF!!! It is awesome for active girls who need to wash their hair more frequently due to work-outs and sports. It allows you to cleanse without stripping your hair. My hair stays manageable. I follow up with a good leave-in conditioner, twist and go. I have been using it for about 2 years. I'm so glad they have added a bigger size.

Great cleanser! It does a really good job of cleaning my hair while still leaving it moisturized. It lathers, but does not dry out your hair like a lot of other shampoos, and the lather makes the product very easy to distribute. Because of this, I end up using a lot less product than usual, so the bottle I bought will last quite a while.

SO SLIPPERY!! Love it. It's more on the shampoo side than the conditioner side, as far as "cleansing creams" go. As in it lathers. But it's so so so slippery that i understand why this is a cleansing cream. It's magic. I stopped using liquid cleansers because they were also so drying and I switched to shampoo bars which have some slip to them. This gave me hope! lol I don't even understand how it works but it works!! Will continue using.

I really liked this. It does have a little bit of lather, which is nice since it makes it easier to distribute. It cleans fairly well and doesn't leave your hair dried out. For someone looking for an alternative to co-washing I would recommend this product :)

I cannot say enough good things about this cleanser. It does take a little while to get used to the "no-poo" philosophy and the lack of lather really makes you wonder. But this in fact left my hair clean and conditioned. The term "cream" is a little misleading as it is very watery, but that helps it get down to my scalp better as my hair is very thick and coarse. I felt the citrus lavender smell was a little like OrangeGlo cleaner and so I did not find it appealing, but I will be ordering the Island Fantasy next to see if I like that better. Otherwise, go with the no fragrance. You will love this cleanser and the styling products as well. You will not believe how good your curls will look!

I've tried so many sulfate free "low poos", but this was the first I could honestly say was "low poo". It's incredibly gentle, hardly lathers, and it comes in a fragrance free version for my sensitive scalp. I'm also so happy to find a product I could buy locally and that is aloe free. Co-washing isn't for me, so I'm happy that this is available. It gets my scalp clean and I don't feel like I ever need to clarify.

    Posted by seamelody14 (Type 3a) on 03/16/2012

This was alright, but based on the name I was expecting a cleansing condish, which this is not. It is very watery low-poo. It's pretty moisturizing but it's not as moisturing as co-washing and doesn't clean any better. I like Jessicurl but this product was meh.

3A/B mostly fine hair, with some coarser gray hair that is colored. :)
This is a great mild shampoo. It doesn't strip the natural oils from my scalp so I don't need to shampoo everyday. I apply it to the scalp first and then smooth the foam down the length of my hair so I can conserve my shampoo stock. I follow up with Too Shea conditioner and this combo has made my hair healthier and more manageable. I've also noticed that my hair color doesn't fade as much since I've started using the Jessicurl line.

Jessicurl's products works miracles in my 3a/b hair. I never thought I could have such soft, shiny, bouncy curls! I find that when I use the products together, Cleansing Cream, Too Shea, Rockin' Ringlets, and Confident Coils my hair is a mass of springy, silky curls with a lot of fullness and barely a hint of frizz. This line definitely works to enhance and define my curls and it's one of my top 2 favorite lines of all time. The Cleansing Cream is extremely gentle. It has a slight foamy lather, like baby shampoo, but it doesn't feel stripping or drying. Any tangles are easily removed with Too Shea. I love this cleanser and I love the whole line.

Love the results: soft, clean, moisturized hair. My only problem is that I have to use a lot. But I won't use anything else - certainly not shampoo - and it's much better than co-wash. I always get no-fragrance for this line, because I don't like the scented versions at all. It was after I used the "island fantasy" all up, even though I wanted to gag, that I realized that I must really love this product. ;-)

Couldn't imagine myself raving about a shampoo, for cryin' out loud, until now! I have been using GLS along with the other Jessicurl products, but my fine, medium thickness, colored, and highlighted curls were still a little on the dry side. I had to add an oil and Awe Inspiraling Spray on Day 2 to keep the frizz down.Decided to try this shampoo on a lark and am sooooo pleased with the results.Perfectly moisturized, shiny curls, even on Days 2-4. All I do is spray a little rose water and maybe a spritz or two of AIS on non-wet days. Don't have to use as much CCSS or GS, either to keep the ringlets. If you're a fine-haired curly that tends toward dryness, this is a great shampoo.

Hair type: 3A, super fine texture, spirals. This is really good if you have hard water. It seems to help remove build up somehow. But it also loosened up my curl a bit too much for my liking. Sometimes my hair felt a bit dry with it too. I liked to mix it though with my GTTT for some extra moisture though. It's like it's not a horrible product, but doesn't provide WOW results either.

  • 5

Posted by CurlieTop (Type 3a) on 05/09/2010

I tried Jessicurl's GLS first and was very happy with the results, but I did the price tag was a little high for a product that simply cleansed. I didn't try this HCC first because I assumed it would be "too moisturizing" for my hair (which is fine to medium) and that it would get weighed down. Boy was I ever wrong!! Unlike GLS, this really goes above and beyond as a shampoo and really does moisturize my hair as it thoroughly cleans it. I used this after dancing in a very hot nightclub and it not only completely cleaned my hair (with such a rich lather!), but also gave me conditioned, defined, springy hair the next day even without styling product. In contrast, GLS cleans my hair very well, but leaves it kinda blah. HCC is well worth the price and I will continue buying this one; I'll only use GLS if for whatever reason I need to "clarify" my hair.

Um, wow, this was a let down for me. I purchased the 4oz trial size and it lasted my thick, long hair about three showers. Mainly this was because I had to use a lot to get enough product throughout my hair - something which would have been alright if it weren't for the fact that for its high price this "cleansing cream" works just like any other cheap shampoo.

This product does exactly what it claims to do. It removes any buildup I get but still leaves my hair feeling soft and moisturized. I really love it. And I like the smell too. I have it in citrus lavender and the weekly deep conditioner in island fantasy. I like both scents but next time I'm going to buy the cleanser in island fantasy. It smells delicious =)

I don't know if I'd call this a cream, when I think cream I think of a traditional conditioner and mine a far more liquid consistency. I wasn't really wowed by this product, mainly because of the consistency. It was just ok, I didn't leave my hair feeling very mositurized, but dry and tangly. Frankly I prefer my TJ's Tea Tree Tingle CO wash, which is much cheaper.

This hair cleanser does a really good job of cleaning the scalp and is very gentle. My bf even loves using this on his straight hair because he has a dry scalp. Personally, I think this foams a bit to much, after being accustomed to Deva Curl No Poo. I slightly prefer the Deva but this is definitely a close second. Anyone looking for a hair cleanser with lather should consider this for their hair.

Many of the other reviewers noted that this made their hair feel "soft"... but I would say that it just made my crown oily. So much so that it was noticeable after it was styled and dry, I had to put a headband on. It does work well if I use it only on the bottom half of my hair, where the hair is drier, but for anyone with an oily scalp I would not recommend this.

I couldn't be happier that I stumbled upon this in the trial pack of the Jessicurl products. I really didn't think I needed a cleanser product because I've been using and loving NoPoo for 3 years. However, when I put this in my hair I immediately felt it moisturizing my curls. And even though it lathers ever so slightly it did not strip my hair of moisture. I think I may have to switch once my NoPoo is gone.

I wanted to love this cleansing cream because it came so highly recommended. The cleanser actually gave me a pretty nice lather. However, my curls were all matted and I had a bit of a hard time detangling. My tight curls are very fine and this weighed my hair down. I think it's probably the avocado oil in it. I will try it again, but for now I prefer Blended Beauty's Soy Cream Shampoo.

This stuff is great...super gentle, great scents. Not too sudsy which I did not mind, cleaned my hair very well the first time(even took out the 'cones). A little goes a long way even on my mid back length spirals. I noticed a difference at once. My hair felt slicker, but not greasy not gunky just clean. I think I personally I prefer the citrus/lavender scent because it is sort of rosemary-ish, but the island scent is pretty yummy too. I would recommend this for all fellow 3Bs.

This product didn't make my hair and scalp feel clean. There's something to be said for a good lather - I don't care if it's merely psychological. This didn't later at all and though my hair at the roots was squeaky, my hair felt dirty. Possibly one for soft water areas.

This is nice and very gentle with a great smell. I have an oily scalp so I need something a little "harsher", but I think I'll try this product again. (I only use a sample before.)

Very moisturizing. Like it but need a little bit more ompf in the long run. I do have a scalp that is a little bit on the oilier side and also a hair that gets weighed down easily.
I found it hard to distribute. I had to use so much of it to get it all over my hair. Still, one of the better cleansers out there. I like the other Jessicurl shampoo better though (GLS).

I really like this product. It leaves my hair really soft while getting rid of product buildup. I think it works better for my hair than low poo or no poo!

I first got this in a "try it all" pack. I didn't think I needed any special shampoo, and I thought it was quite expensive for "just a shampoo". The first time I used it I didn't like it because it didn't seem to clean my hair as much as usual shampoos (I was used to the really-almost-squeaky-clean feeling hair). By the time I finished the trial bottle and went back to my regular shampoo, I wanted more. It's definitely different from regular shampoo and being sort of creamy, it feels like it couldn't clean properly, but it does. I leave it in for a minute or so, and do 2 washes then condition (Jessicurl too shea normally) and it seems to help improve the condition of my hair. I don't like the fake fragrances of the Jessicurl products and they are fairly expensive, but I love the product and I'll keep using it for sure.

This stuff is great, thought I tend to overuse because I can never tell how much I'm using because it doesn't lather up! It left my incredibly soft especially for a shampoo. It smells great and left my hair feeling very clean and soft.

This product is great if you have overly dry hair. I started using it when my hair was *really* dry, and it was great. Now that my hair's more healthy, it's a bit too moisturizing for me.

This stuff works great for me. I use this instead of poo when my hair is dirty, maybe once or twice a week, and my hair always feels clean but not stripped. The Citrus Lavender scent is made with essential oils, which are not as irritating to my allergies as much as perfumes.

This is a very nice gentle cleanser. It cleanses the hair without being drying. I do CO wash sometimes but I reach for this at least once a week to ensure that my hair is really clean and has no build up.

Ilove this product! My hair feels clean but not stripped, and prevents static in the winter. I prefer products that are not heavily perfumed, so I get the Citrus Lavender scent.

Definitely leaves my hair soft! And I love that Jessicurl makes products with no fragrance added. My only complaints are that I have to use a lot of it, and that in shipping it separates. I'm unable to get it to blend back together. This seems to happen if the temperature is under 60 degrees anywhere along the shipping route. I don't know what she could do to fix that, though.

Great no sulfate shampoo with a little lather. Cleanses hair without causing dryness or tangles. I like that it comes in a no fragrance version. It is pretty thin and I have to wash twice. My scalp doesn't feel as clean as when I use DevaCurl No Poo though.

I am totally impressed with this! It is the only shampoo that doesn't leave my color treated 2A/3A hair straw=like. The low suds didn't make a difference to me, as my hair felt clean. Will definitely purchase the larger size (I purchased the trial size pack).

Posted by curlyfro (Type 3c) on 10/09/2004

This is a solid cleanser so long as you don't require lather, which I don't. It's gentle and you feel clean but not dry when you're done. Don't be fooled it removed a lot of gunk for me.

This stuff is very different than anything I have ever used. It works very well, scalp feels refreshed and hair feels very clean, but incredibly soft! I LOVE IT!
It's hard to get used to b/c it doesn't have a lather to it like traditional shampoos. Let is soak on your scalp, it just feels so good!
It is also a little difficult to distribute b/c it has a very watery consistency.

I love it and I use it on my little boy's hair as he has a sensitive scalp (he gets rashes from many shampoos). Soft, shiny, not weighed down. On the flip side--my husband used it once and said it did not clean enough--but then that's the point of it, right??

LOVE THIS. This is one of the only cleansers I can use on my hair now. It leaves my hair moisturized and my scalp cleansed. When I first used it I found I didn't get much lather, but I dunno this last batch gave me a lot of lather. I love love love Island Fantasy scent! Another one of my staples (see Too Shea and Rockin Ringlets reviews.). No sulfates, which is great since my hair can't take sulfates anymore...

i use it two to three times a week in the island fantasy scent and it doesn't strip my hair but removes the 'yuck' from my scalp. doesn't produce lots of lather but that is because it is GOOD for your hair, especially if you are cg! looking forward to my next purchase since jessicurl has awesome samples!

2c) If you're used to more lather, this product might take some getting used to. However, even though it doesn't lather much on me and I live in an area of hard water, I still got good cleaning results. Plus my hair was soft and smooth afterwards.

I've tried doing the no-poo thing a few times and it doesn't seem to work for me. Finding a lightweight conditioner for washing is more work than it's worth but I don't want my tailbone-length curls to dry out. A sulfate-free cleanser like this one is perfect. It cleans my hair and leaves it soft and happy. It's not strong enough to get silicones out but I avoid silicone like the plague so it works for me.

I'm a poo-er, so I'm used to more of a sudsy feel to shampoo. For days I'm not super heavy on product, it does a good job getting things out without removing needed moisture.

This is perfect for wavies like me who want the benefits of the CG routine w/o having to modify with shampoo once in awhile. My scalp gets greasy easily so this enables me to cleanse w/o feeling like I am stripping or ruining my hair. It smells great, cleans well and is very gentle. It does take a little getting used to, but I'll never go back to shampoo!

This product didn’t do much for me. I didn’t find the cleansing agents to be strong enough for my liking. I wasn’t able to remove the product buildup from my hair and scalp. I usually have good results with gentle cleansers, but this is too gentle for me. It kind of felt like washing my hair with Cetaphil. My hair didn’t feel clean enough to my liking even though I had used a large amount of the cream at once. I just need a stronger cleanser. I think this might be a better product for someone who doesn’t use a lot of product or for someone on the no-poo routine. I have 3b/c curls.

I am a no-pooer, but I find when I have build up this is the product I reach for. I don't use silicones or mineral oils or petrolaums. The Hair Cleansing Cream is non stripping, non drying, and actually leaves my hair moisturized as well as clean.. I even have my mother using on her relaxed hair. Oh, ya Jess, I need more, she is using all of it.
