I'm surprised to say how much I don't like this. My hair isn't hydrated, shiny, or soft. I love the smell but it doesn't even stay in my hair. I won't be buying this again.

I've been looking into KBB for some time and I'm JUST NOW testing the waters, so to see KBB products available at some Target locations is really exciting, lol. Anywhoo, to my surprise not only were full sized items available, but also sample sizes of only the Sweet Ambrosia Leave-in & Butter love, score! Got home & washed a small section of hair, plopped it dry w/ a t-shirt, applied a dime-sized amount of the leave-in & butter love. Upon application it started to cake up a bit, but that's normal when using shea butter based sealants. After that section completely dried, I unraveled the twist to find extremely soft & shiny hair! What's also nice is that these products combined don't leave my hair feeling too heavy/greasy either. Both these products left my hair smelling quite pleasant as well.

This feels amazing in my hair. Like the other reviewer stated, the products I recieved was smooth. It did take a little bit of effort to get a dime size out at first, but that was only because the butter was a little frozen from the cold weather, but it melts when rubbed between your hands. I have no complaints so far, it keeps my hair moisturized for days at a time! This has never happened to me before. I used it when my hair was damp, and it absorbed just fine. If you buy this product, just remember a little really does go a long way. I made the mistake of using a bit too much on first application, since my hair is never satisfied with the standard dime size amount of product, and it left my hair feeling a bit greasy. So if you have really dry hair, and you are in need of a really good sealant, this would be a good product to consider. I also heard that sweet ambrosa is good for moisture as well, and I am tempted to buy it. P.S. this stuff smells amazing!

I'm not sure if the other reviewers received a bad batch, but the texture was really smooth, not grainy at all. I'm in love with the Lavender Vanilla scent. The butter actually leaves my hair shiny. It's a good butter, but I'm going to stick to using coconut oil to seal in moisture, as a butter isn't not appropriate to seal on my 3c hair. I would highly recommend this product for anyone who likes butters.

definitely works better on dry hair! i got the pomegranate guava and the smell is pretty strong but i do like it. you only have to use twice a week because it is very moisturizing. be sure to rub it in hands until smooth. luckily my batch wasnt as gritty as everyone is describing. part of my bedtime routine, be sure to keep hair wrapped (because you will end up with oil spots on your pillows!)

I'm with everybody else on this one. I was so shocked by the texture and I would love to say I love this product but sadly I don't. I think I like whipped butters and hair lotions. I'm going to try my best to use it all but this product is a fail for me and I would not repurchase.

I am mostly 4c only a small portion in the back is 4a...any-who. This product made my hair really soft, but I found although the product states best used on dry hair, my twist was better with slightly damp hair. After taking down a week old updo I used this product to do a twist out and it was fabulous... Can't wait to order more from this line...would have given more stars, not thrilled about the texture

This product is greasy, leaves white flakes and provides no shine. While I do love KBB's deep conditioner, this brand needs a marketing overhaul. It is very hard to read the writing on the jar or tube. The font color and size is not customer friendly.
    Hair type is actually 3c/4a.

FIRST OF ALL I HAVE TO SAY THAT I HAVE BEEN A KAREN'S BODY BEAUTIFUL ENTHUSIAST FOR ABOUT 4 1/2 YEARS AND EVEN THOUGH THE PRODUCT IS VISIBLY A BIT CAKEY AND ITS TEXTURE IS A BIT GRITTY THE BUTTER LOVE STILL WORKS THE SAME WAY. JUST RUB IT BETWEEN YOUR HANDS AND ITS SMOOTH LIKE BUTTER. I have ALWAYS purchased her products either directly off of KAREN'S SITE or my LOCAL RETAILER (the black dude that has his own stand in the middle of the mall). The Butter Love has ALWAYS worked for my tightly coiled hair leaving it super soft, shiny, super moisturized, and combable. The product that I have grown to know and love had ALWAYS been a smooth, rich, melt-in-your-hand, can't get no better type of product. Now, I decided to take a risk and purchase it via third party because I wanted to take advantage of the 15% off that CurlMart was offering during "Cyber Monday." I quickly received my Lavender Vanilla Butter Love (which was a surprise because online it said Pomegranate Guava) on Friday. I opened the package and glided my hand over the product (my ritual) and to my surprise I had a finger full of an unrecognizable cakey/ gritty substance instead of my normal whipped, smooth, melt-on-my-finger shea butter. I rubbed my fingers together a few times and it melted down and it became the Butter Love that I have always known. :) I know that a lot of people were complaining a few years ago about the product melting in the mail so maybe that is why the product is a little different visibly and texturally. Maybe they keep it in the refrigerator before shipping to avoid the whole "melting in the mail" situation. Or maybe this batch was just a gritty type of batch, which I know varies from batch to batch which is understandable because this is a 100% NATURAL product. REGARDLESS OF THE GRIT IT STILL WORKS THE EXACT SAME WAY IT DID YEARS AGO! Everybody is TRIPPIN but Karen's Body Beautiful Butter Love is versatile! There are other way more expensive or cheaper products out there that have shea and other butters in them BUT they are WATER BASED (Miss Jessie's, Shea Moisture). When I flat iron my hair I can ONLY use Karen's as a moisturizer after the process because it does not have any water in it and won't revert my hair. If you use the other products you are DOOMED. Plus I can use it on my regular natural hair with no problems. Karen's Body Beautiful Butter Love is an Excellent product and works miracles on my 4a/4b hair.

The consistency of this butter is very gritty. Feels like an exfoliator. Takes way too much work trying to emulsify it in my hands and even then its still gritty. I melted it down in the microwave and whipped it for several minutes refrigerated a few minutes and whipped again....still gritty. I have been using it on my feet and on my kids skin. Works well this way and smells good and clean on them. I can't believe KBB hasn't recormulated this! Its too expensive to be this rough.

THIS PRODUCT WAS HORRIBLE FOR MY HAIR! first of all, i have 3C/4A hair and my hair loves butters. i thought that this was going to be a butter product and it wasn't. when i opened it, i was over powered with the lavender scent. i honestly could not smell the vanilla at all. when i used the product on my hair, it weighed my hair down so much that i had to co wash it out with my as i am co-wash. the product was so gritty that i had to rub my hands together so much that it hurted. and even when i did do that, the product was still not working. i even put it in hot water to see if it would turn into butter, but it didn't. i honestly feel like i wasted $18. thank god for my oyin handmade whipped butter. my hair loved that!

This product was okay. I loved the scent (Lavender Vanilla) but I didn't like the consistency. It was extremely gritty and even after I rubbed it in my hands, it still didn't change much. Although it did add shine and the oil was great for sealing, I still ended up with the product in little white balls sitting on top of my hair. It looked like dandruff :( I've researched online and found that the same product in this line can have varying consistencies from batch to batch. I find this disappointing, and if I could certify that I would get a consistent texture, I would consider purchasing this again....but as for's a no-go.

I used the KBB on my dry twist out and the smell is wonderful. I kept my hair moisturized and myit's not too greasy for my hair. My only compalint is that the KBB was very grainy and did not melt into my hair. My hair looked like I had dandruff and I had to sit under a hair dryer in order to get the grainy white butter to Melt into my hair. the next time I deep condition, I'll melt the left over KBB and put it in my hair to see if it works better melted. Maybe it was a bad batch and I probably will not buy again, since it's expensive.

Butter Love has a great smell (lavender and vanilla) which may bother some people because the scent does linger a bit (I actually do not wear a perfume when I use's that powerful). I would recommend using this sparingly because of the smell. I use this for my twist outs or when I wash and go, just to give my hair a little extra moisture. The only issue I had is that the consistency of the product was gritty(?)...that may have just been my container. Once I rub it between my hands and then into my hair, the product is fine. Other than that, I would buy this product again.

I was between Jane Carter's Nourish and Shine and KBB Butter love. I'd never tried either before. Went with the Butter love b/c it costs the same to get almost double the amount of KBB then Nourish/Shine (Nourish/Shine is a much smaller qty for about the same $$). I LOVE this butter. Smells great in my hair and is the perfect way to keep my twists and twist outs moisturized and shiny in between washes. I have very thick, low porosity, dense 4a hair and this works great for me. It is going to be a HG product for sure! A little does go a long way, even on thick hair. LOVE THIS STUFF!

This is a very rich hair product. A little goes a long way. Unfortunately, my hair has thinned so, I figured let me try this particular hair product, since it has Vitamin E. I will give a follow up regarding it. The scent is very rich. This can last you for at least 6-8months or longer. I really like it.

I can't rave enough about this product. This is the first review I've ever done but I just felt the need to let people in on this. I have type 3c/4a hair and I have been natural for 2 years. When I say NOTHING has kept my hair moisturized but this product I mean it. I haven't had to reapply for 4 days and I'm positive I can make it the whole week. It has the consistency of a butter but goes on light and doesn't leave my hair feeling greasy. The smell is pleasant also I get compliments daily. I pair it with curl junkie's smoothing lotion and that's all my hair needs.

I love this product, it left my hair super soft and moisturized. A litlle goes a long way and it smells very nice (vanilla lavender). It's bit pricey but you'll get a good use of it for your bucks. The butter was soft to the touch and light weight on my hair. I used as a sealant on my semi wet hair and 2 days later on dry hair and my results were the same, a nice defined and soft twist out. I will buy this product again.

Lavender Vanilla smells great. Product was a little too thick for me. It wasn't easy to scoop with fingers. You really have to dig in there and rub between your hands to melt...not convenient for greasing the scalp. Did leave my hair soft.

I really like this product as a sealer on dry hair and I also use to take down my twist outs or braid outs and it gives a nice sheen (non-greasy)...I don't like a greasy oily look! I still like my Oyin Handmade Burnt Sugar Pomade. These are my two staple pomades. They are the best of the best to me.

I like this product, it was easy to use (on near dry/dry hair). Its great as a sealant or to prep my hair for buns or puffs. It smells great (I have the Egyptian Musk). I've had it for almost a year and its still good no mold or anything and more then half left. Only four stars because I hate spending over $2 per ounce on products.

This butter was soft and rich and gave my daughter's 4a/b hair great sheen without being greasy. However, while the Lavender Vanilla scent is nice, it is also very powerful and a bit cloying. I would not recommend using this in conjunction with other products that have any discernible scent as I could see that being a tad overwhelming to the senses. But as far as how the product itself performed, I was very pleased. I will be using it for myself when doing up do's and to smooth down my edges and for both of my daughters (to seal the ends of 2 strand twists after detangling and to smooth edges).

Why did it take me so long to discover this! This is the best butter! It adds the protection of shea butter but it is mixed with enough softer butters and oils that it is easy to use. I have tried Sugar Pomade by Oyin Handmade and it is okay, the Jane Carter's Nourish and Shine is a little too heavy and thick. This is perfect to seal your hair. The best for me 4C hair.

While this didn't do anything to set it self apart from other similar products. I still found it to be a rather good product. Definitely follow the directions and use sparingly as a little goes a long way. Also do NOT use on wet hair, damp/near dry and dry hair are best with this product. This product was easy to use and did smell good (I have the Egyptian Musk). I've had this product for several months now (about 4) and have barely put a dent in it.

Lastly, this product IS NOT more expensive in comparison to Oyin's Burnt Sugar Pomade which is $12 for 4oz (meaning 8 oz would be near $24) while KBB's Butter Love is 7oz for $18. So again, it's not more expensive you're just getting more product.

I didn't like the sound of the scents on curl mart so I decided to buy it off KBB's website. I got the pomegranate guava scent (which ended up being just a tad too sweet for me). Anyway, the butter is nice and soft. It has to be at room temperature in order for you to properly use it. I use this on my dry 4b curls over some oyin hair dew OR oyin juices and it maintains the softness throughout the day. I love it.

The first few times I used it, I may have used a bit too much because it left my hair really greasy. So, folks, a little will really go a long way. Maybe have a dime-size amount would be good.

I took off one star because of the price. The burnt sugar pomade from oyin to me is much better and a cheaper option. I kinda just bought it to try it. Will I purchase it again? Maybe during a REALLY good sale. Otherwise the expensiveness is kinda unnecessary for six ounces.

5 curls because it really is a good product. BUT i have other products that are much cheaper for the same thing. If you have oyin handmade burnt sugar pomade, regular shea butter, coconut oil, vatika oil, etc. there really is no need to run out and buy this. THIS IS A GOOD PRODUCT, but i already have something that works just as well.

oh, and this isn't a moisturizer! just a yummy blend of oils. Oils are too heavy to style my hair with. I use it to smooth down my edges and protect my ends. good stuff. but i already have other good stuff. ya know? :)

I love this product!!! It's perfect for my twist outs!!! The first time I used it, I didn't follow the directions properly. Your hair has to be damp, or completely dry, for this product to work correctly. It left my hair so soft. :-) I leave mine in the refrigerator, and then take it out-when I'm about to wash my hair. That way, by the time I'm done with my regimen, the butter has soften up. This makes it easier to use. I love the Vanilla Musk scent! However, I don't think CurlMart has that scent...I brought mine directly from Karen's website.

I wasn't a fan of the butter. Coco Lime is only one of the fragrance selections; KBB has a large selection. I prefer the softer butters; this one is too hard for my taste. It is also easy to overuse. It made my hair greasy looking.
