I have used this product since I was natural (2011) at first I didn't know how to use it and there was a lot of residue in my hair, now I use it right out of the shower, hair soaking wet and just spread randomly through out my hair. This is a great detangle product.

This is by far the best product to add shine and moisture without extra shrinkage, but it does little to control frizz in super humid places. I add a little aloe vera to it, and this is definitely the product I keep going back to...but there's also something that keeps me looking for something better.

I absolutely love this light, moisturizing leave in. It detangles like a dream. I get better results when I apply the leave in while still in the shower. When I get out, I apply the kinky curly curling custard. Definitely a holy grail combo!!

One of my HOLY GRAIL products! After applying it I can detangle my hair in SECONDS! It's also very moisturizing and makes my hair soft and shiny. It's on the expensive side but it's worth it!

This was a nice product but the only thing is I found out SheaMoisture has one. It is basically the same thing. It didn't have the same moisture as SheaMoisture has.

Love this product! However, I don't use this as a leave-in. I use it to pre-detangle my hair before I wash/co-wash. I've tried it as a leave-in and it wasn't bad, just not my favorite. It works amazingly to detangle though. I spritz my hair with water, apply the product, and begin to detangle in sections with a large paddle brush. Works every time! Definitely repurchasing.

I love this stuff! I have 3b hair that's color treated and really damaged from straightening my hair so much. I've recently decided to stop flat ironing my hair and go curly. I forgot how many tangles I get and how dry my hair is! This product is great! It detangled my hair in seconds after swimming in the ocean all day with my hair in a french braid! My hair feels so soft now. This also smells delicious!

I have very long 3b hair type. I love with this product! It has replaced all my other products and is now the only thing I need to put in my hair after I shower. It doesn't provide enough slip to detangle my hair without a little effort, but it does smooth the cuticle and relieve frizz. It leaves my curls well-defined, shiny and super soft and touchable all day. A little goes a long way, but it doesn't weigh my hair down if I use extra. It is definitely worth the price and I will be buying this for life as long as the formula doesn't change.

I purchased the basic three items from KinkyCurly (shampoo, conditioner, custard). I just wanted to see how the whole line would work since I've heard so many positive things about it. The conditioner didn't do that well with my hair. It instantly matted my hair together and and when I used it as a leave in, There were white flakes EVERYWHERE! But I will say that it has a pleasant smell (for those with severe pollen/fragrance allergies like myself) and it does not make my scalp itch like crazy. Not all products are for everyone, and this is just not for me. I gave all of the products to a friend who enjoys the line.

The best conditioner I have tried EVER! Some say it's expensive (11-12 bucks? c'mon lol) but for an all natural product you can't beat it. It melts right in and I can finger detangle immediately with no trouble. I won't go back to non-natural products. I like to know what is in them and know they won't build up and dry my hair. No beeswax or silicone for me thanks.

This product does pretty much what it says, but the price will keep from buying it again. I found that Miss Jessie's Leave-In Condish works far better on my hair. I would say it is just OK for its price.

A lot of people complain about it not moisturizing their hair or leaving their hair frizz ect. This product is NOT a moisturizer or for styling by itself! It's specifically for detangling and being a leave-in. I have very (4b-4c) kinky hair and this product works perfect for me. I usually mix it with water, aloe vera juice, and oil and this product is able to last me almost a year. After detangling with this product, I usually apply my moisturizer (Shea moisture) and a very light gel for styling.

I love this leave in conditioner. It's one of the best I have used to date. When I first went natural I brought this because I wanted to know what all the hype was about. It didn't take me long to see why so many people love this conditioner. It softens, detangles, and smells good. Simply put....it does exatly what it says it does. What more could you ask for. It's a staple for sure. I recommend every natural try it at least once.

This is a magical elixir sent to us from the heavens. My hair is 3B, course, low-porosity, and it's been compared to anything from "horse's tail" to "burlap bag". I hated, hated my hair for many more years than I'll admit to, and I never dreamed my hair could look good to me. Right away this conditioner made my hair feel like an unfamiliar substance I'd never felt before. It's incredibly softening, yet it's weightless. My hair gets knots and tangles that I used to have to cut out, but this stuff slides through my hair like nothing else (and there's nothing I haven't tried, from jars of mayonnaise to pounds of Wella Kolestral). I still cannot believe how pliable and silky this makes my hair feel! I use this as a co-wash and a rinse, mostly, but during very hot weather it's amazing as a leave-in. My only complaint is the tiny bottle this comes in. Between my daughter and me, it doesn't last long at all. I need this by the gallon!

I'm always trying new products to find which ones my hair likes the best. My hair LOVES this leave in. Great for wash and go hair. Doesn't feel greasy or turn hard during the day. Best used on wet hair. I follow up with Set It Off Curl Boosting Gel. The only thing it tends to leave a build up in a few days. Too much gel and it will feel hard. Takes practice and patience - as with going natural; but the rewards are beautiful.

When first applying this product, I didn't like it at all. It made my hair feel dry and it felt like it just sat on top of my hair. But as combed through, worked it in, and rewet my hair a little, it started to feel okay. Then I used the As I am Curling Jelly (which i love) and the Design essentials daily moisturizing lotion and it still looked the same as when I used the As I am Leave in Conditioner. But when it dried, I fell in love. My curls were well defined and soft, and were a little crunchy but not too crunchy. I love this leave in! The price is just ridiculous for 8 ounces.

Being a product junkie, I had to try this based on all the positive reviews. I purchased this about 3 months ago at target. I thought it was very overpriced considering the size. I went through it in about a 2 months (I only wash my hair once a week) and applied it only to completely wet hair. I love the smell and texture. It has good slip and never had a problem with residue. It did detangle my hair just fine and left my curls soft, but gave me little definition without applying gel. Overall it is a good product, but I don't think it is any better than a lot of cheaper leave-ins out there. I personally think Giovanni is better and it is half the price. Good leave in, but overly hyped.

ITS LEGIT!!! I have thin combo hair 2c-3a and add BE Mine conditioner to it and you have the super duo of detangling!!!!!!! Does not mess with your curls at all. I have usde detanglers that straightened my beautiful curls - not this one ladies oh no!!! Give it a try by itself or add it to your detangling arsinal because it does play with others very well.

Pros: This product is AMAZING for untangling my natural 4c thick long hair IF you add water to your hair first. It is moisturizing on my hair ONLY if i add water first, then add the product, then an oil after it. I like that you can use it on air dry strecthced hair, since it isn't water base it is less likely to revert.

Cons: For my hair, using this product alone moisturizes my hair for a few hours, then it is back dry again. This product is not good for detangling dry hair(at least for me it wasn't). The price keeps going up every year and same amount of product(which isnt' much if you have as much hair as mine and it's 4c). Honestly I dont plan on buying this product often until the price is lowered or it's on sale.

I've been using this product for about 3 months now and I like it! It's light and when used by itself it does not weigh my hair down. It leaves my hair temporarily moisturized and my curls are always super defined. However there are some things that I do not like about it. The number one thing is the smell. I'm a huge stickler when it comes to smells. I either love it or hate it. With this... I hate it. It has a pineapple fruity kind of smell. It's really strong to me. Too strong to me. I makes me sort of queezy just smelling it while I am applying it to my hair. Thankfully, it does not linger. The second problem that I have with this product is that the moisture does not last very long on my hair. Even if I use the LCO method, which I always do, it still never lasts more than several hours. Even then I have to use another product over it to make it last that long and since my hair is easily weighed down, and gets build up easily, all together, that is just too much product on my hair. Overall, I really like this product but, I do not think I will continue to use it. The search begins for something new.

I bought this recently because of all the hype about it. The bottle threw me off at first because it seemed to not have much in it. I have a lot of hair, so I thought this would only last me about a few days. However, I decided to buy it anyways. Oh my goodness, after using this my hair curled up more and was so soft. I only have to put a little drop on a section of hair when I split it into two sections. I have only had this for a month and it looked like a barely have used any.I have been doing the LOC method recently with this and my hair looks so much better now.

I have mixed hair textures a range of 3b to 4b all over my head. When I first staring using this product it worked wonders, my hair was soft and every curl was defined through the gel of my was and go. After about 2-3 weeks the product stopped working on hair. So in the regard of it worked great but for how long I don't know.

Hair stat : 3c/4a, medium porosity, fine strands, high density
Lightweight, light and pleasant smell, and I like the consistency. Love the way my hair is when I apply the product.
My problems with it : It doesn't detangle well. My hair doesn't stay moisturized long enough contrary to my HG (Shea Moisture Restorative Conditioner). It is not water-based.
I only use it if I want to refresh my curls and kinks after a couple of days of styling. My hair doesn't shrink with it (due to the fact that it is not water-based)

I love this product! It is moisturizing without being heavy or greasy. Plus, it is light weight, so those who have fine hair don't have to worry about their strands being weighed down. I only use about a dime size amount; that's all I need (and I'm pretty heavy handed!). As for its detangling abilities, I'm not so sure. I have never tried to detangle my hair with it. Only con is the bottle is a tad too small and the price is a tad to large, but hey, if it works, it works!

After debating between this and another leave in conditioner, I decided to go with this. Boy was that the wrong decision. I dislike this product sooo much. Posted by cindyb1957 (Type 2b) on 03/06/2014

Not quite the miracle I was expecting, but it sure helps detangle! I found that I have to spray her hair real well, put that on, leave it set for a bit...spray with more water, then it's easier to comb. Still a major pain in the butt, but with knot today there are less tears. Especially when used in conjunction with the kinky curly shampoo! I will keep buying until I find some miracle!!

I have 3c hair. I typically use Aubrey Organics Rose conditioner to detangle. However, I really was using so much of it that I finally decided to buy a detangler. This product made my hair worse. It dryed it out and did nothing for detangling, it actually matted it up. I think it is the citric acid and BTMS in it. The only thing I like about it is the clever name.

Posted by MeeBee (Type 3a) on 02/23/2014

I really love this leave in. It's light weight and, like all of Kinky Curly's products, doesn't contain any heavy or buildable ingredients. It's also natural and organic. My hair gets build up easily so I prefer simple products like this. Lately I have been using it more as a RO while leaving a little in my hair and I think that works better for me. When I use this as a RO along with the Come Clean I get the best curls of my life because the CC cleanses without build up and the Knot Today moisturizes without weighing my hair down. Oh, and the slip is crazy good. When I'm using it as a detangler I only need less than a pea size for my whole head. I also add a small drop of this to my gelatin protein treatment to help it slide through my hair. Works amazingly.

I love this leave-in. It's the first leave-in I ever used and the only one I love! It detangles my hair and it's light. It has a good slip to it as well! I mostly use this in a mix with aloe vera juice, avocado oil, jojoba oil, and R&B moisturizer. All this together leaves my hair so moisturized! This is definitely a staple product of mine! I would highly recommend this product!

I absolutely love this product! I've found that my hair really needs moisture during the winter, but too much will weigh down my delicate waves. With this product, I'm able to wash my hair every other day, where I had to wash it every day when I was using my old leave-in. From using this and Kinky Curly Spiral Spritz, I've found that I get bouncy waves with a few ringlets, something that I could NEVER get before! The knots that are in my hair just melt away after using this product. I HIGHLY recommend!

I just don't like this leave in. My hair felt coated and it didn't play well with my oyin hair dew. It was nasty and thick like. I tried giovanni direct leave in with oyin hair dew and my hair felt amazing. I returned it again to whole foods I will never buy again. I don't know why I tried it again. I guess I wanted my hair to love it but it was not having it. My hair is fine and it doesn't tangle to much but it definitley needs a moisturizing leave in. Kckt is not the one for me. I will stick to oyin hair dew and giovanni direct leave In.

I've been natural for over 1 year now, and I'm surprised that it took me so long to pick one of these up. It's winter now, so I think this would be a better product for the summer because it's so light and refreshing, but I might use it for a little longer anyway because it's very forgiving on my thick hair and smells fantastic! It's a good detangler and a pretty solid leave-in that won't weigh you down. If you haven't tried it yet, I would pick one up soon. My hair is thick but I like to use lighter products on it so it is softer and bouncier.

All I can say is WOW. I think I've found my HG! I tried this on my hair this morning prior to using my Elucence MBC and my hair detangled like butter (if that's even a correct metaphor). It's a little light but that's PERFECT for my fine hair: My curls sucked it right up and gave my hair some nice clumping. It didn't weigh it down either when I used it as a LI. It's not for everyone, and the smell is something you might have to get used to (I personally love the smell, it's sweet but since there's mango in it, it smells a little fruity/citrusy), but other than that, it's an AMAZING product. It made my hair super soft and defined my curls very nicely after applying Kinky Curly Curling Custard to it. For all of you complaining about it's size, they sell a 12oz bottle at Target for about $12. Much better than only getting 8oz for $12. I will definitely buy again! It might become my new staple. :-)

This stuff is like the best leave-in conditioner I've ever tried. It made my hair incredibly soft and within one use my thick 3c curls sucked it all up. The only problem I have is that I wish it came in a larger bottle, then it would be my staple product.

I absolutely LOVE Kinky Curly Knot Today! It has definitely lived up to my expectations! It is lightweight for my fine but medium thick to thick curls 3b/3c curls. I have used it twice since buying it over a month ago. It is the best detangler! I don't have to use much for my hair. It makes my curls pop and moisturizes my hair! It also makes my hair soft! This has become a staple of mine!

I love love love this. HG leave in, neutral product, plays well with others, all seasons, delivers great moisture and the best slip in any product ive ever tried (aside from CJ products). i have consistently used this for the past 2 1/2 yrs. a little goes a long way. i have BSL hair and use no more than a quarter size for all of my hair and then follow the LOC method. i prefer to use this when my hair is twisted or braided vs a wash and go. my hair will lose moisture quicker with a WnG. this is also great when retwisting on dry hair without adding product buildup. even works well on my 6yr olds kinky curly baby hair.
my hair: low-med porosity, curly kinky corkscrews, recently color treated

I finally tried this leave in after reading so many good reviews and wanting to for a long time. I really liked this product a lot. My hair doesn't normally tangle bad, but if I do have any this definitely gets rid of them. It left my hair feeling soft and I believe it eliminated some frizz. The smell is very nice. This works really well with the KKCC. It is also good for touch ups and revitalizing my curls. I will definitely be repurchasing this.

I'm still not sure about this product. When I put it in my hair it feels weird. Once it's wash day I noticed the product washed out. It seems like my hair didn't absorb it and I have high porosity. Barely moisturized. Was really hoping my picky hair would love this lol. BUT it did give good slip.

A must have for my 3a wavy curly hair (think Debra Messing). Sometimes I use it in the shower AFTER I shampoo and use my regular conditioner. Why use it after my reg conditioner? Cause I have the type of hair that instantly mattes and tangles when water hits it (like if I went swimming or got caught in a downpour). I don't have the type of hair that looks sexy when wet! Also, I shampoo ever other day ... by the time I wash it, there are plenty of tangles. So after I condition, I then use Knot Today + a large tooth pick to de-tangle. Works great!

When using it after my shower, I use a nickel size amount on my waist length hair -scrunching it in on the lower half, to the ends. Then I manipulate with my fingers where I want my hair to go. Next, I use Redken Fresh Curls Spring Mousse and let air dry. On day two, I just use a little of Rusk Wired Flexible Styling Creme to refresh and add body (this gives sexy body used this way).

What else do I like to pair with Knot Today? Kinky Curly Curling Custard!

    4a / 4b hair. I've been natural for 5+ years.

This is a great product, I think, one of the best I've used for leave-in and detangler. It absolutely detangled my hair, which is exciting. When I was finger combing the detangler into my hair, I didn't experience a lot of hair loss, which is what I get when I'm not using a detangler. Smelly sort of fruity, like coconut. I also didn't have to use too much, and it left my hair bouncy and soft. I would use again.

This the best moisturizers have ever used. I don't us it on soak and wet hair as they suggest, but I still get awesome results. Only down sides is the price, and I used this alone without any other product and I leaves a white film on my hair, even if I use very little and clarify really really well with the shampoo from the Kinky Curly line. But this enhances my other products and the only reason I stopped using it was because of the price tag, but I might just have to cough up the extra money because this works so great.

This is the one of the few hair products I have bought more than once. I like having it on hand all the time. I don't love the smell but it doesn't last. I'm always amazed at how instantly it detangles my 3B hair. I typically leave it on as my only styler and it works pretty well on all but the most humid days. My hair is soft to the touch once it dries. I recommended this to a man who told me his little girl had curly hair that got so tangled they had to cut some off, and he told me it really worked for her, too.

I tried this product because everyone's talking about how perfect it is for 3A curls. I use it as my first conditioner, not my leave in. It really helps my curls shine and gain a lot of life back, however I feel like I have to use a LOT to fully cover my hair. And for the price, that kind of worries me. That's why I gave it 4 curls instead of 5.

I'd definitely recommend this to any curlies who have volume issues though!

I mix this with water to refresh my hair, detangle and re-define my 3b curls (that get soo tangley and friggy). I usually do wash-n-gos, this product is perfect for me.

I finally decided to buy it at iherb.com because of the cheap shippings for Switzerland, i really was impressed by the weird texture, the kind of tropical fruits smell and the detangling !

As a 3C-4A, i manage to detangle in 5min day&night my hair which is a major plus for time saving and future knots.

The only bad thing as a lot of people said, it's the ability to moisturize which i found not super at all...really i was expecting my hair to be moisturise, and the more you put it the more it's was dryier..
Still i couldn't leave it on my shelf, so i mist my hair then apply KCKT, a mix of organic extra virgin Coconut oil with Jojoba and shea butter or Belle Unyevu butter

This Leave-in/Detangler does just what it says! My hair loves this and it truly removes the kinks from hair while leaving my hair soft and easy to manage. I have extremely coarse hair that I have been told is a 4B type, I just know my hair is very thick and hard to manage without the right leave-in and/or detangler. KCKT is perfect for my hair and although I use other items, it is still my go-to when detangling and cowashing.

I have more 3 B hair (but çan't seem to change the profile). Pros: amazing detangler, best I tried so far and I am a product junkie, light smell, nice shine if you use it as LI, works fab with KCCC
Cons: A little to gellish for my like and not sure how nurturing it is for my dry hair.
Conclusion: yes I would buy it again as it's great to have on stock for those days when your hair is completly tangled up and nothing seems to help getting the knots out of your hair. But will stick to other conditioners for nurturing my hair. I would give it 4 and half stars if possible but not 5.

I'm not a big "leave-in' person but I am VERY happy with this product! I like the "gel-like" consistancy and the amount of slip it gives my hair. It was easy to apply and even though the bottle says to use generously, a little goes a long way in my hair. My curls were well deifned (before applying a styler) and still felt really soft the next day. I do plan to play around with this product & try using it a couple different ways but I believe this might be a HG product for me!

This product is awesome at detangling. I don't even have to use a lot of it in my hair to get all of the tangles out. A little goes a long way for me. I don't know if I'll repurchase it though, because a cheap conditioner (vo5, suave) can do the same thing as this, and I'll get more of the product for a better price. But either way, still a great product!

I use this product a bit untraditionally, but it works better this way than using it for my wash & go's, twists, and as a refresher. I mix it with water in a spray bottle and use it as a refresher. It works well. As a leave - in for a wash & go, I don't really think it works too well with my hair type. After it has completely air dried, I find that my hair isn't as moisturized as I'd like it to be.

I like this under the Kinky Curly Curling Custard, BUT it does nothing for my hair by itself. It doesn't have enough slip to detangle my hair, and it isn't moisturizing enough. It takes forever to dry too. If you use too much to try to make it more moisturizing, you will end up with lots of white flakes.

I only need to use a nickel or quarter size amount because my hair is very health. I have fine 2b/2c hair with low porosity. I love Kinky-Curly Knot Today! It is so worth the price. This product worked better while I was transitioning. Perhaps I need to doctor it up a bit with some oils and maybe some aloe vera juice, but it totally misses the mark as is. It adds no moisture whatsoever. I've used it to make the Kimmaytube conditioner and that was the best use I've gotten out of it. I've used it with and without the Curling Custard and it causes major shinkage...the two paired together make for really shruken hair. I love the ingredients and the price isnt horrible in comparison to some of the other natural products I've purchased. I'll keep trying to figure out how best to use this until its gone. I may end up using this strictly for the Kimmaytube recipe (shrugs shoulders and hits submit)!

You know how they say: "Do you want the bad news or good news first?" Well this review is that kind of situation. I will give the bad news first. Don't claim that this product is a leave-in when there are no fatty alcohols to give this product the agent to truly correspond with moisturizing the hair. HOWEVER, straight to the good news this is an excellent detangler- it was what I used during my shower process. It was nice knowing I didn't need to worry about a detangler for that is the most difficult in my wash process. So I will give all my curl ratings to the fact that it detangles well. It does lose a few curls because it isn't really a leave-in. In a way you are paying $12 for a detangler which I can get cheaper. I was hoping that pairing this with the KCCC it would give me ultimate results, but no. Overall, great detangler, but nothing poridust-wise for a true 'leave-in.'

OMG. hated it. Was in a bind--my hair was. I had just finished washing out and dc after a full head henna and nothing appeared to give me any slip. I tried my curl junkie rehab, my bee mine dc, my hair was a tangled, knotted, snarly, 3c, 4a and I don't know what the hey you are 4z maybe mess! Heard good things about kknt but never used it because until that henna, I never had such a tangle. Normally, my hair can detangle with just a bit of water--add condish and combs, barrettes my hands just slide through my hair--I fact, water straightens my hair for a hot minute (it curls back as it dries) but today.. I seriously, I mean seriously considered a big chop and my hair is APL! only the edges and nape remained snarl free, it looked like after my steam and dc my hair had dreaded into huge clumps! I put that kknt on and it just soaked in, put more on..nothing, doused my head in the shower--nothing--half a bottle later (I was desperate) NOTHING. Know what finally got things moving? 1/4 inch sections and cantu butter mixed with grapeseed oil, I slowly teased my hair apart. took me over 2 hours! Now with a bit of Oyin dew and a lot of Qhemet amla and olive oil the "hot mess" is finally softening up to the lush hair that I normally have. As for the KKNT? No thank you--it failed me when I needed it to prove itself the most, maybe it works on hair that does not actually need real detangling? Oh well, back to the back of the cabinet for this stuff...not for me!

I LOVE this stuff! It adds just the right amount of weight to my hair! It glides on and when you run you fingers through your hair, it distributes easily and makes detangling a BREEZE ||| I apply it to sopping wet hair, shake/pat away the excess water, and use a diffuser to dry my scalp ||| What I didn't like is the lack of shine imparted, so I take JUST a dollop of its partnering KCCC and gently pat/smooth that over the exposed areas. Too much KCCC and your hold will be too hard. The two products work perfectly together.

I am so disappointed. I decided to give this conditioner a chance because I ran out of my regular conditioner, Oyin's Honey Hemp Conditioner. Since Knot Today has such glowing reviews and made with natural ingrediants, I figured it would be comparable to the Honey Hemp. I was sooo wrong. When using Honey Hemp, my hair is instantly softened and detangling is a breeze. When I rinse Honey Hemp out of my hair, my hair is still soft and lightly moisturized. This Knot Today stuff did nothing. I mean NOTHING. It did not soften, nor did it detangle my hair. Maybe this works better with a different hair texture than mine (4a). Needless to say, I will not be purchasing this product again.

I have a mixture of 3B/3C curls and this just doesn't work for me. I used this as a leave-in and at first i makes my curls feel so moisturized but after my hair dries I notice my hair turns out to be poofy and frizzy. I have very COARSE hair so I'm thinking maybe this leave-in is just too lightweight for my hair? For girls like me, I recommend you don't use this product alone or try out Shea Moisture Curl Enchancing Smoothie- which, in my opinion, is better for frizz and hold.

I'm a 2c and my hair LOVES this! I've been using it about 2 months. It literally eliminates all the knots in my hair. I used to have to re-wet and comb out knots for second and third day hair (resulting in stringy curls). I can now just lightly spritz with water and apply a dime sized amount of KCKT and finger style the few knots out. It's just moisturizing enough. My hair can't handle too much so this is perfect.

It works fabulously with whatever gel or custard I use, but I do find the best results when used with other Kinky Curly products. I also use this on my 3 year old son who has baby fine curls.

This is a HG product for my daughter and I! My teen age daughter has really thick 3a-3b hair that is fine, so it tangles like crazy. Knot today lives up to its name and no other product or conditioner has ever worked as well using so little. My daughters hair is very healthy as I was aware enough by the time I had her to never ever put any of the curly no-no ingredients in her hair and never washed her hair daily when she was little. She has learned proper care for her curls and to date her hair has never been touched by a harmful ingredient. Given that, this is the ONLY product she uses in her hair and she has shiny (yes, actually shiny) beautiful curls that do not frizz even here in Florida. I on the other hand, have mostly 3b curls (with some 3a and 3c on different parts of my head) but my hair is more of a medium texture and not even half as thick as my daughters hair (it was before I had kids, but that is another story) and it works like a charm for me as well. What I love about it most is that for me, it plays nicely with other products. During the winter I use this with the kcc and have the most beautiful results for my cork screw curls I have ever had in my life. I layer it both under kcc, and over for 2nd and 3rd day hair. Works like a charm and leaves my hair sooooooo soft. (soft like I have the healthiest hair in the world! even my husband cant keep his hands off it when I use this combo, lol) During the summer the kcc does not have enough frizz control for me, but I still use the knot today year round in the exact same way...under my gel, and over my gel for 2nd and 3rd day hair. This is a staple in my house. My daughter does go through this product faster than I do (because she has so much hair) but 3 bottles last us a couple months even still. It is not super moisturizing, so I do not use this as a conditioner in the shower. We use it as a leave-in to remove tangles with ease and create beautiful curl clumping and spirals on wet hair, and to smooth out frizz on dry hair 2nd/3rd day. (leaving our spirals intact) We have been using this for a couple years now and I will never be caught without a bottle!

It's not perfect, but nothing I've found detangles better than this product. (And the slip is out of this world!!) The downside is that it's not very moisturizing. At all. But I have low porosity (and med-coarse-ish!) hair that doesn't really lose that much moisture, so most of the time this doesn't bother me much.
It's really a game with this product, which I'm not entirely sure how to win every time I use it. Some magical amount of this plus water makes my hair great. Same thing applies when I use gel with it (note that I don't use, and have never used KCCC). Unfortunately, when I get this mixture wrong, my hair turns out dry, and non-clumpy. Go figure. I have to give this product more than a 3/5 though, because I've gotten several great hair days from it.

I swear, this stuff melts through knots like a hot knife melts butter! It's especially helpful around my nape and edges, where my coils kinda wind around each other after, well, /anything/ happens to them there. The consistency felt odd to me at first, but it still worked excellently. The smell isn't half bad either!
I recommend everyone using it for their own snarled knots.

Not impressed. Just used what was left to detangle my hair before washing this week. This product is not thick enough for my hair to absorb so I did not like it as a detangler. Not enough slippage. I could not detangle my hair thorough enough, and had to detangle again in the shower with Herbal Essence's Hello Hydration. A lot of hair shed in the process. :-/

I bought this product last summer as a leave-in and it left my hair dry. Needless to say, I will not be using this product again. It does not do well as a detangler or leave-in.

I'm kind of "meh" about Knot Today. I bought the entire KC line of products (shampoo, leave-in, KCCC) because I was told that you had to use them together for them to work. I disagree with that. I love the custard but this conditioner was just so-so. While it did leave my hair soft and was a GREAT detangler, it wasn't moisturizing enough for my hair - my curls feel a bit thirsty after putting it on, so I have to add some moisture using other products. But this conditioner doesn't really seem to like to play with other products, plus I felt like I was just weighing down my hair with a bunch of product. It left a sort of filmy feeling to my hair that I didn't like. So I don't use it too much; the only time that I did use it recently was to put some on before I undid some braids, which it was great for because it has excellent slip.

Knot Today is a great detangler for my 3b/3a, low porosity curls. It worked well on dry hair, but better on wet hair. However, it didn't do much for me as a leave-in. I was still in need of moisture after using this product. I am a big fan of the simple list of ingredients.

This stuff is amazing. It is a great detangler and as soon as I put it on my hair, I feel it working. My hair is instantly softer and smoother. It also does not get flaky when you put a gel on top of it. I'm so glad that I finally decided to buy it.

This is the best leave-in/detangler that I have tried thus far. I really one have one complaint; I don't think that it is moisturizing enough and my hair needs a lot of moisture. So, I mix it with my Moisture Lock w/ Shea Butter by Inflúance to get the hydration that I need but I still love the product.

After reading some of the reviews, I decided to give the product a try. My normal wash-n-go had so much shrinkage I could not believe it. Needless to say, I tried it again...this time doing hair twist with the product on only one side of my head. When I took my twist down I had so much frizz it was ridiculous. What works for one, doesn't work for all.

I only apply it once until the next wash day . this is an AMAZING leave in . and it keeps your hair from forming knots and tangles if kept in a stretched , tamed state .

So I have actually never used this as a rinse out or a detangler in the shower but I'm sure it's fantastic because of its slip. I've always used it as a leave in, and there is where it excels for me. This product is light and smooth and glides effortlessly over your curls. I've tried it with several gels and it's always played nicely (no flakes or frizz) although it probably does pair best with the curling custard because they're formulated to go together. Like the curling custard it has a light pleasant scent that doesn't linger and it makes your hair feel very healthy and soft! Love, love, love it! (And again, a little goes a long way. I've had it three months and it's maybe 30% gone.)

The 1st time I tried this product it wowed me: it melts away tangles, it's light, it really works, a conditioner that really works! That was about 2 1/2 yrs ago when I had been transitioning for about 6 months and was just learning how to handle my hair. It smells fruity, like Let's Jam the original version from way back in the 90's to slick edges down--I don't know if they sell this exact version anymore-am I the only who thinks this? The consistency is a viscous liquid, very slippery and not thick or pasty like at all. It is pricey, but worth it because it works miraculously and the ingredients are superb. This product is available on the ground in stores like Target (which I have seen it going for $5, I got 2 or 3 bottles at that price and I know I will use them because this is a high-quality product you can use as a leave-in conditioner, regular rinse out conditioner to use in the shower, and I may try it as a deep treatment with my steamer, who knows. Happy Hair!
P.S. The only true drawback with this product may be my personal issue, but I feel people experience it and don't realize it. The product doesn't work as good when you use it continuously; I usually cycle through rinse-out conditioners, leave-in conditioners every wash time so I can get that "just like the first time detangling experience" for my tightly curly, dense 4a/4b hair and to satisfy my product junkism!
I have tried a few other leave-in conditioners: SheaMoisture curly (reddish packaging) hair lotion, Darcy's smoothing coco bean cream didn't have enough slip to keep my hair from tangling as I was trying to apply my final styling product gel. I love Paul Mitchell's the conditioner b/c it is available on the ground and I rotate it with KCKT and CurlJunkie Smoothing lotion(4stars) leave-in conditioner.

Holy cow...this stuff is awesome!! I am 8 months into transitioning from relaxed to natural and this stuff saved me. When my hair first started growing in, it laughed heartily at the leave-in's that I used on my relaxed hair.My hair was unmanageable and I wasn't sure I was going to last but thank goodness I found and KCKT. It allows me to detangle my hair with ease, especially the coarsest part which is located in the crown and moisturizes so well. A little bit goes a long way so the 8 oz bottle has lasted me since November and it's only halfway done. I definitely recommend it!

I like this as leave-in to use under curling custard. It works great just like it's supposed to, with nice slip, through I tend to use quite a bit I don't need as much as I use. I like so use it with nothing but a light (like grape seed) oil over it in the summer.

I have a mixture of 4a,4b, and 4c hair. It is low porosity and very dense. My experience with this product is great ONLY when I use it as a detangling conditioner in the shower. I hated this product initially as a leave in. I decided to give the product another try as a rinse out conditioner. I'm so glad that I did! Detangling my hair in the shower with this product is a breeze! It is not very moisturizing for my hair so I still have to follow up with a leave in or a deep container afterwards. The only reason that I gave it 4 stars is the price. For what I use it for, I can get a cheaper detangling conditioner.

Love this product. I use it after my Cowash with Aubrey Organics White Camillia. I agree with the other reviewer, the consistency of the product makes it difficult to evenly distribute on dry hair but as I like to wet my hair daily to revive my curls, this is not an issue for me. I apply it after my AOWC while still in the shower and comb through with my fingers. When I get out of the shower I "squeeze-quench" with my hands and also with my deva towel. Apply a bit of oil (Jojoba or Almond) and that's it, air dry. My curls are defined all day. Later on when my hair is almost dry I use my fingers to 'pick' it out and combat the shrinkage. I've been using this routine for a little over a week and my curls have never looked better.

My experience with this product was not so great. I have very coarse, curly hair and I do not like putting water in my hair until I co-wash or thoroughly wash my hair. Putting water in my hair everyday in my opinion makes my curls shrink and I am so not a fan of that. I have to put water in my hair in order to evenly distribute the product when using this product. Although my hair was very soft after using it, white flaky residue is visible throughout my hair when adding this product without water. So instead I just use this product as a rinse out conditioner when co-washing and thoroughly cleansing my hair. I executed this method today after thoroughly cleansing my hair and as a result my hair feels very soft/silky smooth.

WOW it my curls were AMAZING!! i didn't get the clumping i wanted (i think it was because i diffused it too much) but my curls were define and i had volume like no other. I had a lot of shrinkage but for once it was a good shrinkage. BOUNCY, and MOISTURIZED. i have never had such touchable soft well defined curls. that combination of those 4 products = PERFECTION! for my curls at least...

As a fine and coily 4a/4b (with low porosity) I learned slowly that I needed a water-based leave-in to style and retain moisture in my hair whether I was wearing it coily, a twisout, or flat-ironing. Super heavy leave-ins did not absorb, leave-ins with too much oil frizzed up my hair, and creamy leave-ins only worked well over water-based leave-ins (a combination I now use on my hair during all seasons except for summer). When I first tried KCKT, my coily hair shrunk up into frizz and brittleness and I couldn't understand what was happening. I later realized that KCKT has a very low ph meant to seal the cuticles of the hair and smooth it so that it is prime for styling and receiving more moisture. After learning that, I understood how to use it best for my hair and it is now a necessary staple that makes a true difference in my regimen. When I do not use it, I notice that my hair does not retain as much moisture, and my styles are less smooth and long lasting. Like a base coat applied to the nail before nail polish, KCKT preps the hair for styling by creating a smooth surface. How I use: I mix a little in a spritz bottle with water (distilled water if you live in a hard water climate) and spray on my hair after washing/conditioning. This allows me to use as little as possible, while still achieving great results. Essentially, water activates the KCKT so no need to glob too much in your hair when you can dilute it in a bottle and get the same results. I then grab large sections of my hair and twirl into mini-buns that I pin up to allow the KCKT to absorb. Since my hair is low porosity, it needs encouragement for product to absorb. I tidy up, shower whatever I need to do and by the time I take down the buns, my hair is shiny, smooth and clumped into perfection. I then smooth a heavier leave-in (i.e. Oyin Hair Dew, AOHC or whatever you like) onto each section, a little sealant on the ends (Sophia's Hair Grease, KBB Creamylicious, shea butter, whatever works for you), add a styler if I want a sleeker look (i.e. KCCC, FSG) then style my hair. Overall, I've learned that KCKT acts as a smoothing leave-in and helps attract and retain moisture, although it does not provide high amounts of moisture. Perhaps if it provided enough moisture, it wouldn't be as smoothing as it is?

I bought a bottle of this when it became available at Target recently. I have fine, thin, wavy to curly hair - so I have problems with products being too heavy. This stuff is so incredibly moisturizing! A little tiny bit works to soften my dry ends and untangle my hair, without weighing it down too much. Works alone for looser waves or under styling products for more curl retention. And it leaves your hands super soft too.

Behentrimonium Methosulfate is NOT a "sulfate". It is made from non-genetically modified rapeseed oil. It is a scientifically advanced ingredient, considered the mildest hair de-tangling and thickening ingredient available.

Buyer beware! This product does detangle well but...I find along with a few other users I know, that you have to use a lot of this product. Which means you end up spending a lot of money over time, not good and most importantly it contain methosulfate and that's what keeps customers consistently needing to add more. It dries out your hair over time causes damage.

This is pretty good for detangling but not as a stand-alone leave in. For me, this product works best when I layer another leave in and an oil on top for sealing (fyi, my hair is really dry and porous so this may be product overload for you). If you tried it and had less than stellar results, I suggest using it in combination with your favorite leave in condish or sealer before you throw it out.

This product is wonderful for detangling my hair. I need to use a LOT of conditioner, because my wet hair is all the way down to my thighs. Therefore use a cheap, big bottle of conditioner. No matter how much conditioner I use, my long hair still sports a ton of snarls. Kinky-Curly Knot Today seems to magically untangle these knots with just a little bit of the product rubbed onto the trouble spots. I always use this, and it keeps me from literally ripping my hair out!

I don't give it 5 curls because 1, it is such a small bottle with such a high price, and 2, I cannot use it as any kind of moisturizing product. If used as a conditioner or a leave in it leaves hair crunchy and dry.

Bottom line: AMAZING detangler. BAD conditioner/leave-in.

I decided to jump in the pool and give this product a shot after reading a lot of reviews about it on various sites. IT WORKS! While I am nearing the end of a three-year transition, my hair is 4a/3c and Knot Today makes detangling easier for me. Mind you, detangling wasn't hard for me; but, it wasn't a breeze either. Thus, I recommend this product!

I really like this leave it. The smell didn't bother me and I like the consistency of it. I REALLY like it if I use it as a conditioner. When I rinsed it out of my hair...my hair is SUPER SUPER soft and shiny. I usually just use it as a leave in. I don't have the perfect amount down just yet...and I'm still experimenting, but so far I've had good results.

Adds moisture and defines curls. My only complaint is that I wish it came in a bigger bottle :( And it kind of felt like putting water on my hair. My hair is really thick and to get the right amount of moisture, I feel like I'm going to end up using this little 8oz bottle up in a mere 2 weeks of use.

AMAZING LEAVE IN..i wish that it was a TAD BIT more moisturizing though but its still great all the same...i can literally feel it smoothing my cuticles as i place it on my hair...detangling is a breeeezze...the Kinky-Curly products have such a great pH for hair...its amazing...the smell is lovely..i also wish that there was a bigger bottle that could be purchased...i will run through a bottle in a week or so..

This is the best conditioner I have ever used. It is not too heavy or greasy, yet it really moisturizes your hair. However, if you have finer hair it probably will make it more greasy. Wavy haired friends of mine, cannot use this conditioner.

It works great as a leave-in in combination with a gel/serum. I get the best results using this conditioner as a leave-in + flax seed gel (so easy to make!) or the kinky curly serum. If course it would also (and does!) work with the gel, however, I am not fond of the smell of the gel. The smell of the conditioner and serum is, on the other hand, GREAT! So fresh!

This stuff can be your worst nightmare if you let it. It has the consistency of liquid hand soap but without the lather. The stuff really looks white. Its good for taking out twists, knots, and softening hair. It's bad because if you use too much, you will see white residue, daily conditioning or moisturizing, and styling. At first I thought this stuff was amazing but, as I started using it more, I could tell that it wasn't what i needed. Even when I used a little I would see residue and it was even worse as a rinse out conditioner. I don't know if it's because it doesn't last long after its opened or if it is because my hair doesn't like too much marshmellows in it. Either way its pricey but it works.

I like this as a leave in and dry hair detangler. Although with that being said, I usually top this with something creamy or add a bit of olive oil. While it's not a "holy grail" item for me, it's definitely something I can reach for in a pinch and it doesn't hurt that it's available on the ground.

After the really exceptional reviews for this product, I was pretty disappointed. It didn't feel especially moisturizing and it didn't help with frizz control. Maybe it works better with KCCC - I just used it as a leave-in under a few gels that I had in the house already - but alone I didn't think it was anything special. For a glycerin-free leave-in, the Curl Junkie Beauticurls Leave-In works much better for me.

I originally bought KT to add to my batch of the famous kimmaytube leave in. It worked great in that concoction and I actually never really thought to use it alone as a leave in. I tried it and it works wonderfully on my hair, leaves it very soft. I've only tried it on wet hair as I get paranoid putting new leave-in creams on dry hair.Weird, I know. Not so crazy about the smell. A little too "product-y" for me.

I have tried it a few times--in fact I used this before I went in for my Deva Cut. My hair was GINORMOUS! Not in a good way, either! Hello, Woodstock hippie!

It seems to get larger and larger as the day goes on! I am going to give it another try, but even with CHS Curl Keeper (my new love!), it seems to grow and bush out like back in the old days of East Coast humidity and no curl friendly products. It wipes out all of my other products, as if they aren't even there! It certainly does detangle wonderfully and feels wonderful when your hair is wet, so I will give it a 3.

I was a little surprised when I used this product. I thought that my hair was going to feel soft and easy to detangle. Nope. My hair felt super dry and matted. It was a pain to detangle. I thought my hair would be feeling like this after I shampooed with the KC Come Clean. My hair felt awesome after that. I actually hesitated to put this on the rest of my sections bc it made my hair feel so bad. But it was recommended to use this in order for the custard to work. This stuff was not for me.

This is a great detangeler. I only have 2 problems with it. 1. It is very expensive for such a small amount. It takes a lot to detangler my daughters hair which is very very long, and 2. It can only be found at Whole Foods stores. My city only has one Whole Foods store. But again, the product will detangler your hair.

Best natural detangler I have used!
I have 3b/3c hair, but I used it in my brothers beautiful 4b fro, and the mothers fine 3a hair. It works for all of these hair types and doesn't pull out any unnecessary hair. With just finger combing, annoying small snarls and knots just melt away. The only detangling conditioner I have used that is up to par is Paul Mitchell's "The Detangler.". I also use it as a leave in and it definres my curly new growth very well. The smell is lovely! Think mango. When I don't have time for a twist out or braid out, I simply put this in damp hair, and twist up my straight/relaxed pieces. Love this stuff, and I recommend it to any transitioner, natural, texlaxed/silkened person!

I LOVE this conditioner! I have tight corkscrew curls! My curls are very tiny and dense! I typically usually large amounts of conditioner on my hair as soon as i hop out the shower and then apply additional product to my hair in sections. I have used this conditioner twice on my hair and once on my grandmothers hair and it barely looks like I tapped the bottle. Looking at the conditioner in the store my immediate thoughts were "Uh huh, what is this for one time use?!" I am happy that I purchased it anyway. I applied a quarter size amount throughout my entire head and each time i applied it to sections i only used a dime size or smaller! This product smells great like pineapple, kinda. It makes my hair so soft. I think I would be comfortable doing my wash and gos with Kinky Curly Knot today alone.

Hair type 3c/4a. This is the BEST detangler/leave-in I've ever tried. It's super-light and super-slippery and has a light coconut scent. I can imagine using this on any type of hair, only varying the amount (more for thicker/coarser hair, less for thinner, wavy or straight hair). It does well on freshly washed, soaking wet hair and makes all of my other products work better to define my curls and keep them soft. It's pricey, but I can NOT be without this product when I'm wearing my hair out (not in a protective style). Love this stuff.

4a, 3c in the front. I use it underneath the KCCC and I love it. It's thick so a little goes a LONG way, more bang for your buck. Smells better than the KCCC IMO but similar. Incredible shine and softness. You can use it underneath any other styler without having to worry about residue. I will continue to purchase this, absolutely. I also like it to moisturize throughout the day. Ingredients are pretty good as well! Really nice product!

Unfortunately I am not satisfied with the performance of this product. I must admit my expectations were abnormally high after watching/reading the various reviews about this product. This leave-in is well known throughout the natural hair community as a top of the line "detangler" that can accommodate thick, coarse, kinky, and unruly coils. However I was not impressed, in order to achieve a decent detangling session, I had to use the heavy-handed approach to get decent results. Kinky Curly Knot Today did knot come close to meeting my expectations or maybe I just had an irrational hope that would save the day, but either way this did not moisturize, detangle, or smooth my hair better than any ordinary drugstore conditioner.

This is the best leave-in I have ever used. This stuff is great and somehow it helps to define my curls and leaves my hair looking so healthy. I have used this under several different products and it actually enhances them. When I use other leave in's, the results are subpar. This stuff is magic!

  • 3

Posted by jessicat (Type 4a) on 05/01/2012

I love the way this stuff smells! One of the best smelling leave-in's out there. It has slip, and it's a great detangler. But I feel like I have to use a lot of it in my thick, chin-length hair in order for it to work to my satisfaction. Considering my hair is only going to get longer, I don't think the price is worth what it does. Other products can do just as well for a fraction of the price and it doesn't retain any of the moisturizing feeling when it dries. I don't think I'll repurchase.

I love the knot today, but you have to use a lot of it for full coverage. If you ask me there isn't enough product for me I heard they had a bigger size online but I not yet found it. I wish that Shelly Davis would give us more bang for our buck, because if you don't use it in moderation this stuff won't last but a month if that!! Love the product but the size isn't worth $11.99 at Target.

Posted by Devushka (Type 3b) on 04/28/2012

Actually, I'd probably give KCKT 4 1/2 curls if they had that as an option; the only reason it doesn't get a full 5 curls is because I don't necessarily consider it a holy grail. After trying several leave-in conditioners, this was the first one that I liked because it absorbed into my hair well and didn't leave it feeling "product-y". I like that it's a light conditioner and that it smells good without overpowering. What's also nice is that it's a "quality" hair product that I can go out and get locally. It's nice having some products that I don't have to order online.

I've since found a couple of more leave-ins that I like, but I definitely plan on keeping KCKT in my rotation of leave-ins.

I had high hopes for this product, but it just didn't work out for me. It does help detangle, but it did nothing to help moisturize my hair. It kind of felt like it just sat on my hair, that's about the best way that I can put it. I gave it 2 stars because I do love the scent.

This is one of the all-around best conditioners out there, in my opinion. It helps me detangle my hair really easily, and works well as a rinse-out or a leave-in.

I docked a curl because the product doesn't last long--I find that i have to use a lot of it, so I burn through a bottle quickly compared to other conditioners. At $12 a pop, when i use this as a rinse-out plus leave-in, as the directions suggest, it's not economical.

Knot Today is one of the only products that my tight curls (3c/4a) and people I know with looser can both use. It has slip, I don't have to use a lot of product, the smell is pleasant, isn't heavy, and I recommend it. I don't think there is anything more I can say about it.

This product did nothing for my 4a hair. I was so excited to try it because I have hear so many wonderful things, however, my experience wasn't the same. I placed the product on my hair section by section and detangled with a wide tooth comb, and all it did was make my hair shrink to the high heavens! My hair texture was already soft from washing and deep conditioning, so the main function I needed it for was detangling and it did not deliver. I'm going to mix the rest of the product with water and use it as a spray-in conditioner, but after that's gone, I will not be repurchasing!

I bought Kinky-Curly Knot Today based on the raving reviews it had and I was not disappointed in the least! I have 3b hair that is fine and thin but I have always had problems combing it even with conditioner, with KCKT the comb goes through my hair with no problem and gives my curls great definition, softness, and reduces the frizz that I always have. I will definitely be purchasing this product again although the price is more than I have ever spent on a hair product but my hair is worth it!

It's pretty good for a detangler, but I find no added benefit as a LI. So in short, it's a very expensive detangler that will get washed down your drain (I apply maybe a quarter to my whole head, mixed with cheapie condish). I wont be repurchasing, unless it's on a crazy sale.

Honestly, despite the fact that Knot Today is truly liquid slip, iDont really care for it. iOnly use it when applying KCCC since the two are designed to work together. Defintely has great detangling abilities but iHave other products that do the same.

This was a game changer for us! I used to wrestle to comb out my daughter's thick, 4b hair using a wide tooth comb and a regular leave in conditioner or baby detangling spray. Let's just say, that method was painful for both of us! When using Knot Today, I don't even need a comb to get through all the knots and tangles. It leaves her hair soft and smooth and not at all heavy. Best of all, she no longer wails like a banshee when it's time to do her hair!

This is a good detangler, but it's not really all that moisturizing and it's way too light, and my hair is mostly 3a with some 3b, so usually most curly products are not too light for me. There are better leave-ins out there, and even using my RO as a leave-in beats this. It's really not bad, it's just kind of pointless since all it does is detangle, because my RO does that too.

I was looking all over for a good leave in conditioner and saw raving reviews for this!! I felt confident that this would soon be my "One and Only", so I bought 2 bottles when they were on sale at Target ;) I read how to apply it and did follow directions to a T. Wow. This product dried out my hair SO BADLY - I had a frizzy mess!! I thought I did not use enough, So i tried again and this time got crunch and flakes! On top of that, it looked like my curl pattern went berzerk!! Back to square one..

I don't see what all the hype is about; this is a crappy product to me. It has so many great reviews which prompted me to go to Target and buy it. I had very short hair then and this product did nothing for it. After weeks of using this mess, I finally realized why my hair was sooooo dry and brittle, it was this product and so I threw away a half full bottle. You see, I completely shaved my head and started using this product when my hair was about 5 months old. It was alright to comb through my hair, but when it dried, my hair was hard like I had put gel with ETOH in it. It sucks; hemp conditioner works excellent as a leave in for me.

I have wavy hair 2b/2c that tend to curl nicely after washing them but through the day they weigh down and become less wavy. I have found a perfect combination of products that helps my hair to be curly throughout the day. I start with washing my hair daily with Kinky Curly Come Clean shampoo. It cleans hair very well, some will say it stripps your hair, but really if you have wavy hair you want your hair clean, because any buildup will case your curls/waves to straighten out. I don't find this shampoo to be drying so it works perfectly with the combination of products I put on my hair after washing them with this shampoo. After the shampoo I use Kinky Curly Knot Today conditioner. I apply it in the shower, comb my hair and rinse the conditioner out (I used to apply it after shower and leave it in but it would weight down my hair to much). The Knot Today is a great detanger and it gives great smoothness to your hair without weighing them down and causing buildup. I believe the Come Clean shampoo and Knot Today complement each other perfectly with getting my hair very clean and later detangling and smoothing out with the conditioner. I would highly recommend that you use both for best results. Then I lightly pat my hair to remove excess water (so they don't drip) and apply Moroccan oil. This thing is pricy but it is like food for your hair, makes them soft, shiny and they grow like crazy. I apply one pump onto wet/dump hair (my hair is on the shorter side) and this thing last you for ever. It will not add definition, just make your hair healthier. What is also amazing about this product is that it will NOT weigh down your hair or make it feel greasy (even thought it is an oil). After I apply Moroccan oil I apply for curl definition Kinky Curl Curling Custard. This product is great in the sense that it works a little like gel but once it dries out you can't really tell you have put something in your hair (it disappears but at the same time makes your hair curl and hold the waves/curls very nicely throughout the day). Very light weight, does not weight hair down and does not dry out hair (at least with the combination of products I am using), I would highly recommend it to those who look for great curl definer and holder. With this combination of products my hair is healthy, shiny, and curls beautifully throughout the day.

I have searched high and low for a leave in that will work for my hair. My hair is fine, but dense, and it gets really dry. I needed something that was going to absorb quickly into my fine strands, but was hearty enough to really be moisturizing. This is it! I also really like the slipperyness of it, it is easy to distribute and it keeps my curls separated. With the Curling Custard on top of it my hair is so happy! It is a little pricier than some other things but I have never found anything cheaper that comes close to this. I also like that it has natural ingredients because a lot of the chemicals in other products irritate my sensitive skin. I buy a few at a time!

BEST PRODUCT I HAVE EVER USED. I'm not exaggerating. I used KCCC before and didn't like it, but with this, my curls look great. I was worried it wouldn't be too moisturizing, but that's actually just what I need. I'm cowashing now, and this cleanses and lightly conditions my hair without buildup. For hair that gets oily from cowashing but also needs some softness and moisture, this is perfect. And the slip? Awesome. My hair feels so smooth when I apply this, and the comb goes through like butter. Unlike butter, though, and other conditioners I have used, it's not greasy at all. I found another use for this, too. This is an amazing shave gel/cream because of the slip. My legs get irritated so easily, but not when I shave with this. Makes them as soft as it makes my hair, too :) This is my HG!

I have combination 3b/3c hair. I have been using Kinky Curly products for over 3 years now and although I have found replacements for the curling custard and the come clean shampoo this Knot Today will forever be a staple product in my daily regime. Yes, I use this product almost everyday so I always buy two bottles at a time. I just learned that on the kinky curly website you can get a 32oz bottle so that will be my next purchase. This product is 2nd to none and I don't remember what my hair was like before it was introduced to Knot Today. Oh yea, I remember, it was dull, tangled, lifeless, non-defined dry kinks. Now it is shiny, bouncy defined soft, detangled curls. I get asked almost everyday what I am using in my hair. And at the top of my list (because I do use a lot of products) knot today is always mentioned.

I have 3a/3b hair. Kinky curls on the underneath with wavy/S shaped curl on the top.. Oh my goodness, I absolutely LOVE this stuff. I used to straighten my hair for years & recently found the Curly Girl Method. I LOVE this stuff along with Curl Keeper. Never have I seen my curls THIS difined & frizzless! I used Fructise Garnier Sleek & Shine leave in until I received this. It was a bit heavier then Kinky, but I LOVE this because it's so light. I can even detangle with it and still keep my curls. Where as when I first started doing the method, my curls were only at the ends and the rest of it was wavy or S shaped. ONLY reason I give it a 4 is because I wish it came in LITER size like the curl keeper. Please get it in the LITER size!!!

This has recently become a product staple for me. I love the greener, cleaner formulation that excludes the usual chemicals/sulfates/silicones as other products. The texture is great for my 3b/3c hair -- creamy, with slight hold (but not tacky or sticky). I usually layer it under a light gel to control frizz, but on good days -- if my hair is well-moisturized -- I can get away with using it by itself after washing. I usually detangle before using this, but as a leave-in conditioner it's fantastic (and very affordable!!).

I have 3b hair that starts to get very nice thick tight ringlets the longer I go without washing. I bought this on a whim because I normally don't have a huge budget for hair products and find that the more expensive stuff isn't worth the extra money. I thought my hair could benefit from a leave in and the treseme silicone free conditioner is a bit too thin. My hair LOVES this stuff. After I wash with a no-poo (which I only do every 4 days) and detangle with the cheaper treseme, I rake about 2 nickel sized amounts through my hair. When my hair is wet, it is past the middle of my back and while my hair is fine, i have a lot, but don't need much of this stuff. It helps my hair clump without weighing it down and provides moisture my hair desperately needs. Plus, it smells great. Days 2-4 I squeeze water through my hair in the sink and apply a similar amount squishing it through the back of my hair where it gets the most frizzy, so I end up using it daily. I've had it for over a month now and have just gotten through about 1/2 the bottle so the price ends up being pretty reasonable.

I'm used to coating my hair in deep conditioners after I shampoo, or hell, even co wash my hair. Because its just so dry! So I thought that using a thin conditioner that contains no oils, butters, cones, or petrolatum/mineral oil was a big fat joke, especially after using a clarifying poo (come clean) I don't know how it does it, but this is one of the most moisturizing conditioners I have EVER tried. And it didn't weigh my hair down AT ALL. Even though I just slathered it on, detangled, and didn't wash it out. On top of all that, this is the longest time an 8 ounce bottle of ANYTHING has EVER lasted me. And it smells great, light, clean, and fruity. AND its available on ground and is very reasonably priced seeing as it lasts forever and I don't have to pay for shipping to boot. This is black magic I say. This here managed to adress every hair isue anybody could possibly have, I haven't got a clue how that is even possible, but it did.

Knot today gets 4 stars because like KCCC, it doesn't work for me in our humid summer, trust me I wish it would. I don't use it to detangle because I have too much hair and I like detangling it with tons of conditioner. I use it as a LI after I step out of the shower. I layer KCCC over it and comb my hair to distribute it evenly. This combo is perfect for less humid winter months. My hair is seriously perfect for 3 days. The curls are elongated, defined, and moisturized. This is a great LI and its well worth the money!

I have started using a bit of it with my sheamoisture conditioner during my shower, because it helps spread the thick conditioner throughout my hair. It has definately helped with my frizz. I have no idea how it will fair in my dry cold climate this winter.

The result is bouncy, shiny and healthy curls! I have tried many CG leave-ins, including Giovanni and Garnier but this one has by far the best results for me. I even use a very small amount mixed with water and gel to refresh my second day curls. I left 4 stars only because if you use too much you can get just a tiny bit of residue. But this is easily avoidable :) A must-have product!!

I use knot today as a conditioner, a leave-in, Sometime I even use it to style a particular section of my hair w/ water. Cute packaging, great island-y like smell. The consistency is snotty-creamy. I really love KCKT! I have really thick hair and the ends always look dull, even just a week or so after a haircut. I put this on while still in the shower with soaking wet hair and then add whatever styling gel I'm using that day, scrunch out water and air dry. I've had it about 3 weeks and I have about 3/4 left in the bottle. My hair is so much softer and I especially notice the ends feel soft and healthy. I can't quite place the smell, but it's nice and doesn't stick around that long. It's a bit on the expensive side so I might try out some other options before buying it again, but I definitely don't regret the purchase and I will use the whole bottle!

I have always had a problem with detangling and this makes it a sinch. It is SO moisturizing as well! It only takes a VERY LITTLE amount of product to get VERY GREAT results! :) It's totally worth the $12, I promise! I use this, followed up with curl keeper & kinky curly curling custard. It's an amazing trio.

This is a nice rinse-out conditioner for softening and detangleing. I use it as a leave-in when I use the Curling Custard and it helps keep my curls from getting too short and tight. It also keeps the Custard from getting too crunchy. I use this on my 3 year old daughter's hair for detangleing, and she loves it. For my hair, the KC line is fantastic in low dew point weather (in the mountains here), but it's a bit drying in my usual 50-60 degree dew points. Knot Today smells like soft-serve vanilla ice cream...yum. I think this, with the Custard, provides the best frizz control of any product combo I've ever used.

This Leave-In Detangler/Conditioner is so yummy!! Besides the delicious scent, it provides excellent slip, which enables me to keep more of my below-the-bra-strap length hair. It leaves me with moisturized, soft hair and kills frizz. I use this under Kinky Curly Curling Custard for beautiful beachy wavy/curly tresses that last all day here in hot/humid FL. I have even used a dime size amount of Knot Today by itself, and after letting my hair air dry (till about 90%), I blew dry straight. It worked fabulously!! It even added shine! I will continue to repurchase.

I am still growing out some of the keratin treatments I had done which had ended up damaging some of my hair but this stuff really brings my curls back to life when used with the Curling Custard. Knot Today is an amazing product! The ingredients are simple and natural without the harsh stuff like mineral oil, petro, silicones, sulfates etc. Knot Today is a must have for me and my son. I have 3c,4a,4b and my son has 3b 3c. dryness is eliminated once our hair is quench with water then the product goes to work to moisturize and detangle. It seems to melt the knots away very well. I cannot remember the last time I felt like giving up on being natural. It also smell clean and sweet. This Kinky-curly product<br />has helped me a lot. No tears period. Try it, it's cool!

Knot today is amazing!! I use it after I DC or co-wash with another conditioner. I also use it as a leave-in. It makes my hair so managable!! It is a great detangler and has a light feel and smell. Before Knot Today I used to cry when trying to get the knots and tangles out of my hair! NO MORE TEARS!!

I like this produce well enough. It is a great detangler but if it's mixed with the ecostyler gel it flakes a lot. I still use it but not with any other products other than coconut oil.

I love this leave-in conditioner for my long 3a/3b hair. It's light, smells wonderful and I can use it by itself as a styling product when the humidity isn't too high. It's a little on the pricey side, but I only need to use two nickel-size dollops, so one bottle lasts me a long time. I'll definitely repurchase when I run out.

I tried this for the first time today. I am in a transition period right now. Its my first thirty days going natural. I have been using the Devacurl line and although I like the concept behind it, it does not appear to be working for me like it does for others. Some days it's great, others are not and I can NEVER get a second day out of it. I saw the rave reviews for this and I just had to try it. I wasn't going to comment until I saw what my hair looks like tomorrow but I couldn't wait! I already feel the difference. I didn't use the whole line as I have too much of the expensive Devacurl products. I co-washed & conditioned but instead of leaving the conditioner in, I washed it all out with cold water and squeezed out the excess water. Next I sectioned my hair into eighths and added a pea sized amount of kckt to each section and brushed thru with fingers. next I added a nickle sized amount of angell to the same section, racking thru with fingers and then scrunching. worked my whole head this way and let air dry. My hair feels so soft and light. I didn't even have to break the gel cast like I would have before when leaving in the one condition! The curls are defined and almost frizz free! Best of all my hair doesn't feel coated (yet). I'll see what it looks like tomorrow. The ONLY reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 curls is because it does EXACTLY what it says it will do...it elongated my curls into waves. I had started getting my curls back after 15+ years of straightening. I think I just used too much for my fine curls and next time I Will us less, but this is definitely staying part of my routine. I love it!!!!!

This product is amazing! I used it once before and it did what it said but my elongated 4a curls were kinda crunchy in combo with the custard. So i did something different this last time I used it. I used the whole line like suggested. Then I took the Knot Today conditioner and sectioned my hair into 4 inital sections and smaller to liberally apply the product. I applied the leave in to the smaller sections before finger combing the custard in. i did that through out my entie head. It took about 30 mins. But guys....OMG... my hair was so soft and bouncy, something i havent experienced. i kept my hair like for 4 days! thats a feat for me! I can barely go 2 days without washing. And my hair was sooooo moisurized that it felt like it was wet with product but had not applied any. I love the kinky curly line =)

This was awesome and smells great but only works well with the kinky curly come clean shampoo. It has to be followed with a styling product immediately or else it will sit on your hair making it look and feel silky and grand till 6 hrs later when it dries and your hair is dry as if you have done nothing to it in days! Good temporary results.

Great product, I've been using this for a while now. The only problem is that it is so expensive 150TT$, but it is okay for my 4b hair, I try not to use too much because of the price, which makes me wonder whether I'm fully benefiting.

Great leave-in! Liquidy texture didn't change how my curls behaved (didn't weigh down or increase my curls) and was surprisingly moisturizing for the texture..

Posted by JewelCurls (Type 3c) on 07/31/2011

I love this! It is so versatile... I use it to do so many things. I mix it with deep treatments and conditioners for better distribution if they have no slip, I use it alone for heavy-duty detangling in the shower if my normal condish is not enough, I use it as a leave in. It plays very well with most of my products. For some reason it does not like my LA Looks Sports Gel, so I don't use it with that, but otherwise I never have to worry about product interactions. It is easy to mix with oils too... When I am feeling lazy, or I know that I want to wear my hair up for a few days in a row, I just leave off all styling products, and mix the KCKT with some coconut oil.
The price is a little much, but I spend very little on my other products, so I am willing to splurge a little on this one.

OMG ! LOVEEEE THIS PRODUCT !!!! I bought this for $11.99 at Target along with the Kinky Curly Curling Custard which was $15.99 , and just tried them both this morning while getting ready right before going to work . Right now , I'm on a lunch break and I just had to write this review because my hair looks AMAZINGGGGG ! My thick , dry mixture of 3B/3C curls are perfectly defined , moisturized , and smell damn good . I didnt even mind the mild crunch I got because after I scrunched my hair gently , which only takes 2 minutes on my shoulder length hair , my hair was very soft and NO frizz even after the scrunching ! I can't tell you how many looks and compliments I got from both guys and girls as I was heading to work , even my Co-workers were in awe (but then again , people seem to adore my hair no matter what products I have used LOL ) . I'm so glad I decided to give these 2 much-hyped-about products a try , it was so worth it and yes I will be making more purchases of these both after work ! No wonder they always fly off the shelves at my local Target ! :)

Wow, this stuff is amazing! I have never put on a detangler or conditioner that works as well as this product. To test it out, I tousled my hair around in the shower and I had plenty of knots. Knot Today, took them out so fast and the best thing is I had no pain while using my wide tooth comb. I used this as a leave in and it made my hair feel really moisturized, and my curls are well defined, soft and bouncy. It smells so nice and it's somewhat pricey, but in my opinion, I think this product is worth the money. I will be using Knot Today daily.

All summer I have been a PJ trying to find a cheaper alternative to KCKT + KCCC. No luck great for protein sensitive curlies too. Only thing that had gave me 3 day hair too. KCKT smells great it's light enough to be used as a LI without product build up or weighing hair down. Even my husband can tell when I use this combo!!! I have the best hair days no matter what the weather is like!

*Used as leave in conditioner...not styler....***Used this in conjunction with the come clean shampoo, Shea Moisture's Curl Enhancing Smoothie and a dollop of Frizz ease curl mouse...and LOVED it! It seems to reduce the amount of single strand knots that I usually get. My curls were soft and defined and bouncy but elongated...though SM's Curl Enhancing Smoothie is absolutely fantastic solo...this seemed to just anchor it. I plan on purchasing again

This is my ONLY go-to product. My hair is so lovely with it. It looks and feels baby soft, it's bouncy, fluffy and has absolutely NO frizz. I use a dime size amount and try to only add it on my roots and then just scrunch until I feel it's even enough. (today was 109 degrees, dewpoint was in the 70's and the humidity was in the 60's and I had an awesome hair day!) Can't ask for much more.

It definitely does help with de-tangling. I have 3c and a little 4a hair, so I get knots and tangled all the time. I give this 4/5 because my hair had a weird feel when I applied this while my hair was wet. I have no idea how to describe it. It just felt stange. Also, I think it cause my sensitive skin to break out. But my hair combs out a lot easier.

It's ok. Nothing to write home about. Good as a refresher but not at this price point. I didn't see any grand results over just spritzing my hair with water or a cheapie leave-in/detangler. Good for layering or applying before other products but not a necessary product.

There is nothing wrong w/ this product; in fact I love the smell, the natural ingredients, the fact that it's protein free and it detangles well, but it's just not moisturizing enough for me. I have thick, course, almost shoulder length 3b hair and in the 2 months I've been using this w/ curl keeper my hair is drier than normal. I keep switching back to my Ouidad LI, but since I'm having product build up, I'm trying to find an alternative to the 'cones in Ouidad. Unfortunately, KCKT is not it for me.

I really like KCKT. It does what it says it will. It's a great detangler and a very moisturizing leave-in. It, however, doesn't mix the greatest with my gel (I don't use KCCC). That is my only complaint. Great product! and it smells pretty great!

Tried to make it work, wanted it to work, but failed. It's a nice detangler, but no matter what I used over it, once my hair dried it was poufy, frizzy and dry, and kept getting bigger and frizzier as the day went on. This is the only leave in that gave me such disastrous results. Guess there's something in the ingredients my hair hates.

I absolutely love this product! :) I use it as a leave in conditioner under my gels and it gives me great defined, curl formation. Because it's pricey, I don't use it all the time, but I can always tell the difference when I switch from using any old conditioner to this one. I feel like knots literally melt out of my hair when I apply this, and it give my hair that smooth, seaweed feel. It has a light, coconut scent, that is not my favorite, but not overpowering either.

I have been using this product for over a year and will never go back to another product. My hair is luxurious and growing so fast my stylist is amazed. I admit - I'm addicted to the smell.....a light cherry scent? Hard to describe and I do NOT like fruity scents as a general rule. Maybe it's not even cherry.....just a wonderful, light scent. I also use the Come Clean shampoo exclusively and since my hair is incredibly healthy and strong over the last year, my husband has switched over and is using these products. Can't say enough about these products. I will note - if you have build up of any kind already on your hair, you might see a white film.....be sure to use the Come Clean shampoo or another clarifier if you see that white build up.....it means your hair wasn't sparkly clean to begin with. This is by far the most moisturizing conditioner I have EVER used.

This is my 1st review on this site. after my recent BC I purchased this product to use as a leave-in condish. I can honestly say that it did what it was supposed to. My 3b/3c/4a hair felt moist and flexable. I didn't like the fact that I had to use so much to really cover my thick hair. I also had a problem getting it to mix with my styling cream. I will continue to experiment with it because i feel it has potential to do great things for my hair.

AWESOME product! I actually came across this product after viewing Kimmaytube's leave-in-conditioner video on youtube. I picked up bottle, used it in her mixture and applied it to freshly shampooed and DC hair right before going to bed. The next morning, my hair felt soft, smooth and didn't have that filmy product build up feel to it. Since then, I've been hooked. I've also used the product alone to moisturize my hair between washes and I've added some of it to my own leave in mixture I carry in a spray bottle. Great, great product!

I really like this conditioner. It’s great for removing tangles and knots in my hair and it smells good. It does dry a little light so I usually have to follow it with shea butter to get the moisture my hair needs. I tried using it with the Curling Custard but ran into a few bumps, but alone with a little shea butter works great as a leave in. Would give the product a 5 curl rating but for the price I wish it came in a larger bottle. Just trying to be economical.

Hands down, the best hair product I have EVER used. I have fine, 3A/2B hair. The dry winter weather here in Colorado is extremely harsh on curlies. Within 2 days of use, however, my hair was MUCH softer, smoother, and had more controlled curls. I put a generous amount on my hair, while it is still sopping wet in the shower. It soaks right in and layers well under any other products. Can't wait to try more products from KC!

I have mostly 4a hair that it detangled well. Not greatly moisturizing but ok. Used it with the Kimmytube leave-in and loved how it made my hair feel and how my short 2 strands came out Very soft and the smell is nice. What I do not like about this product is that it does not mix with other products like pure aloe gel. It left those little white product balls and I had to rinse my hair out. I will only use it if I don't use something else in my hair which is not often.

I really like the way this product works with KCCC and it makes my hair beautiful. My only quam is that I have 4b hair and so I need ALOT of it and thus go through the bottle very quickly. I wish it was either cheaper or came in a liter-sized bottle for like $15

Hands down THE best leave-in conditioner period. it's creamy and non-tacky and has an amazing slip and shine for a silicone-free product. again, i only rate this 4/5 instead of 5/5 because it's very pricy for a leave-in and it does not last me for a long time.

Alright. First off, let me start by saying that I never in my life planned on buying and KC products (I had reasons, but I won't go into it) but I will be getting micro braids tomorrow so I figured that I should deep condition my hair before. As I looked, my eyes fell across th KC shelf at Target. Remembering all the reviews I'd seen about Come Clean and being impressed with the ingredients, I picked up a bottle of that. For good measure, I grabbed a bottle of Knot Today as well.

After washing my hair with the shampoo in the shower (I'll touch on that in another review) I put a dollop in my hand (somewhere between a dime and quarter sized amount) and rubbed my palms together. Began running my hands through my hair. WHOA. I was surprised at how effortlessly it soaked into my hair, automatically softening and moisturizing my strands. I broke out my trusty wide toothed comb and got to work detangling...it was so much easier than it usually is to detangle, and it took way less product to do so! My hair's thick and on the bottle it says for coarser curls to use a generous amount...I didn't need generosity in the slightest. A moderate amount is fine. Heck, even a tiny amount makes a remarkable difference! I dc'd afterwards and added a tiny bit to my hair to help comb through again...worked like a charm.

The reason I'm giving it a 4 after so many good words? Well, it could've easily been me getting my standard comb back as opposed to a horrible one I've been using for a few weeks that made detangling easier than it's been. It also could've been other factors that helped. I'll keep using it and if it keeps working its magic the way it is I'll most likely repurchase. I just started using this product and it's a great detangle. I used it in combination with KCCC, but I think that I'll like it better used alone. It does provide good curl definition without using KCCC! Definitely a good buy!

Based on my rating, I'm not saying its a bad product. However, I found it did not have enough slip as I would have like for detangling my hair. The ingredients are good. It does, fo me, work better as in a combination with shea butter and jojoba oil to make a semi holding gel/ lotion. Its helped hold in my twists and show curl definition. Would I repurchase? Not too sure.

Knot for my 4b hair... it left my hair feeling dry. I have very dense tightly coiled hair that loves water. Did more damage than good. If you are a busy 4b. This product is not worth the additional time to get right. The kinky curly curling custard is a must have though.

Never have I had to use less conditioner, but this stuff amazed by boyfriend and me. Both of us, his 4a and me 3b/c had gotten too much out. We had been using herbal essence long term relationship leave in conditioner before going cg method and needed lots of the stuff. This though just a tiny bit does it. I followed with the KCCC and WOW! Shine, defined, and soft. The price is ok given how long this will last. (I had prided myself on drug store only products--Aussie moist conditioner and the HE LI with vital care mousse. I've now upgraded to Whole Foods for my hair products. ;)

Where do i start? When I opened it, the sweet smell it me pretty hard. If it's not for you no worries because the smell dissipates. The texture is creamy and slick and once i put it on my head the tangles melted away. The downside..well some may call it an upside but it works too well. My curls were super defined which means I had a LOT of shrinkage. I personally like my big hair I just wish it could be big and the curls defined. This is a great product.

This product is like magic. The product really smells good. I along with several people loving to touch their hair. I have tried other products including the Eco-styler. I thought I could get by cheaply with Eco-Styler. There is no comparison; I am sorry. Once I have tried KCCC it would really be hard for me to find another product that will make me say “Wow”. Eco-Styler only last day maybe two at best. KCCC last my daughters 7days and that is with being involved in sports and other outdoor activities.

This product does what the description says as it detangles my tightly curled hair excellently. The only reason why I did'nt give it 5 curls is because it is not very moisturising. The directions on the bottle say you can leave it in or rinse it out, however, I find that when I leave this product in my hair it becomes dry. I found this an excellent product to use for co-washing my hair. When I use this for co-washing it leaves my hair soft, detangled and clean. It is the best thing I have found for co-washing, it easily removes all grease and product build up from my hair.

Okay, so I tried this for the first time today, due largely in part to all the rave reviews. I've heard (read) before that the scent is comparable to cherries, but I didn't care for the smell of my particular bottle--reminded me of pineapple. Not so cool... but other than that, it DOES do what it's meant to do: detangle. I would actually recommend Darcy's Botanicals Vanilla Delight Leave-In over this product because it comes in the same exact size; costs the same amount; smells better; detangles just as well; and provides more moisture. I don't think I'll be repurchasing this one, but if you're looking for slip, I think you've found it.

One of my absolute favorite products. This conditioner supplies great results on everyone I have personally known to use it. It has a nice fresh natural smell that is not overpowering. It leaves the hair feeling soft and moisturized and is great for detangling. You can rinse out completely and follow with your favorite products or lightly rinse and use as a leave-in/moisturizer. Very versatile and little goes a long way. Only drawback is that like the other Kinky Curly products is the price. But if you only get one thing, get this!

Awful product that only give me slip when I would douse my hair in it (which most anything really would) HOWEVER, much better when you follow this videos instruction: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXi2k4cFFhI. Just by adding a little oil and aloe vera, it makes it wonderful and my hair is still moisturized on the third day. Lasts much longer too.

    To Summarize:
    Awful = itself
Wonderful = add aloe vera + oils

This. Is. Awesome! So smoothing, so moisturising, but light enough to use as a leave-in on fine hair. I think I am a customer for life!
(Handily enough, the bottle neck is the same size as the CURLS products, so using one of their pump lids helps me control amounts better, and makes the bottle last much longer.)

My hair is so so badly damaged that I will need to BC again once I grow out another couple of inches but at least for now the KCNT has helped tremendously in sealing in what little moisture my hair will retain. I can't wait to experience the results on healthy hair.

My hair is short and really doesn't get tangled with the products I'm currently using it. I was using this product just before and after I got my Big Chop and went all natural, but then I switched to the products my stylist used on my hair and recommended I continue to use. I am keeping the remainder of what's in the bottle around for when my hair grows out and I may need it in addition to what I'm using now. When my hair was longer and unhealthy, it did detangle my hair and made a good attempt of retaining moisture in my super dried out hair.

It made my hair so soft and easily detangled right on impact. I used it as a leave in and it felt so soft. I followed with the KCCC, and I didn't feel any crunch at all.I will definately purchase this again.

Not quite a "5 curl" product for me, but I still like it. I wanted to try a new leave-in for the summer, and since I love KCCC so much I thought it'd give it a try. I get a little bit of frizz when I use this, maybe because it's not quite moisturizing enough for me, but it does provide AMAZING slip.

  • 4

Posted by CurvyCurly (Type 4a) on 05/26/2010

Best detangler; excellent slip!!! I applied the Knot Today to soaking wet hair and WOW the detangling properties were amazing!!! However, after adding the Curling Custard and allowing my hair to air dry my hair started to feel a little dry as the day went on. For better results with 4a hair, it seems as though this leave-in/detangler may need to be layered over something else a tad bit heavier. My most stellar results for washNgo's thus far have been with 1) applying either Qhemet Biologics Burdock Root Butter Cream or Ouidad Moisture Lock Leave-in to soaking wet hair, 2) add Knot Today, 3) detangle and 4) sparingly add the Curling Custard. I end up with moistured, defined curls with nice hold and the ability to pull off 2nd day hair which is rare for me.

The best darn leave-in conditioner out there! My curls are frizz free, have a lot more definition, shine and just look healthier. Also it makes my hair feel heavier without weighing it down. On top of it I use it before straightening and my hair it makes them so shiny and no dry, split ends. One thing to mention you don’t need a lot of it, which makes it that much better.

My 3b hair loves this product! On the first use, my shower comb glided like silk through my hair. I follow the recommendation for tighter curls and use it to detangle in the shower, do NOT rinse, and use it as a leave-in conditioner (in one use!). I try not to towel dry too much and let kcnt do its job. My curls have never felt so soft and defined without additional product and I don’t buy separate conditioners for the shower and leave-in anymore. I use the shampoo too and love them both. Highly recommended!

I hated this product completely. Not only was it overpriced (because there's nothing special in it) and I had to go out of my way to even find it, but it also did nothing for my hair. No moisture, no coil definition, not even the detangling it claims to do so well. If I could give this a zero, I would because even the scent was unpleasantly cheap and artifical. This product was a complete waste of money--it didn't even work well as a shaving cream for my legs.

I have tried this product alone and in conjunction with the curling custard and I must say...I did not like it. It made my hair feel rough and I could not find the "slip" everyone was talking about who praised this product. Follow the instructions carefully and you, will be amazed. My hair was a hot dry mess b4 this product. Definitely works better when hair is wet of course. First time, I applied when wet after co-washing it. It detangles wonderfully! I didn't even use a comb! I used my fingers! 2nd and 3rd day. I just spritz with water, then applied it and the KinkyCurly Pudding. The puddling gave it that extra gloss and it helped elongate my tight curls. is It's gonna be a while 'til I run out because a tablespoon amount is all you need if you have short to shoulder length hair. I used to have to glop a large amount of product to get it into shape. It's been 6 days since I've used it, and I haven't even made a dent! In fact after the 4th day, I didn't put any in. I just freshen it up with a spritz bottle full of Castor Oil, Distilled Water, and a couple drops of little fragrant oil because castor oil is stinky. My hair feels a little crunchy, but compared to what my hair felt and looked like several days ago, I take crunch anyday!

I like it. I honestly can't say it's BETTER than Be Curly by Aveda. I've been using that since I started going natural. It's way cheaper and since I'm in love with the Kinky Curly custard I decided to stick with the same line.

I tried this product twice. Unfortunately, my hair was more tangled and dry than before I washed it. The good thing is there are now many products available for us curly girls. So, if one product line doesn't work for you there are others that will. :) I have been using the Deva Curl line and Wen lavender oil and LOVE it. So, good luck to all of you.

It really detangles my 3c/4a/4b hair with such silkiness! The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is because you usually have to use it with the come clean shampoo in order for it to be the most beneficial in detangling, at least that's what I have to do.

This is not the kind of leave in that I usually look for as I prefer a creamy texture, but OMG CAN THIS STUFF DETANGLE! It was recommended to me and I have recommended it in turn with great results. It definitely helped me through a rough point in my transitioning when the tangles became too much to bear.

I think this is a good conditioner. It does have a smooth and silky feeling to it. I used it as a leave-in conditioner and with kinky curly curling custard. Overall it smells great, but it isn't a "holy grail" product for me..

This stuff is awesome. I use to use BioSilk and it left my hair feeling oily. I like everything about Kinky Curly the smell, the feel and the fact that you only have to use a very small amount, so the bottle lasts forever. My hair has had a smoother feel, less fly-aways, a rich look and it never has that oily look or feel.

I loove the way this smells. Great as a leave-in, regular conditioner and as a styler when I don't feel like using a gel. It defines curls and leaves them soft. It would be great if KC made a curling creme with most of these ingredients, then incorporated one or two more ingredients for hold.

This is the first leave-in that's worked for me for as long as I can remember. I bought it because after reading the reviews of KCCC, it seems like it would work best when paired with this. I actually needed a leave-in anyway, either they all have cones or don't do anything at all. I haven't used it as a regular conditioner yet, but it gives so much slip! Not much is needed at all, though I had to replace my bottle after I was about 1/4 of the way through my tub of KCCC. It has a light kind of cherry-almond smell that isn't strong, just pleasant. The consistency is also great, creamy but light and easy to spread and distribute. I'll be sticking with this conditioner for as long as they keep making it!

I have fine, soft, mainly 3b (some 3a and 3c) curls. KC products don't seem to be working for my hair. The KCCC was a disaster after various applications, which is how I ended up with the KT. This product is ok-ish. I have had better luck with a number of other leave-in and rinse-out conditioners. Disappointed that have almost-full tub of KCCC and almost full bottle of KT that can't use. KC need to make testers like Curl Junkie. I love Curl Junkie!

For all the ladies out there with very kinky-curly hair, this product is a must-have! When I am not in the shower with rich-creamy conditioner in my hair, I use Knot Today to detangle my hair. I spritz my hair with my water and vegetable glycerin mix and then start to apply Knot Today in my hair and detangle it. I also use Knot Today as a great leave-in before applying my Fantasia IC gel in the mornings. It prevents dryness and makes my hair VERY easy to manage, define, and style. It is reasonably priced as well. What more can I say?

I have fine soft 4 a/b hair & I tried this stuff twice ; once on a small patch of hair & the 2nd time a week later on my whole head to make sure I hadn't made mistakes. It was crunchy the first time & horrible the 2nd time .It made my hair hard, wiry & brittle & made the curls shrink up to the point where it COULD NOT be detangled. I had to wash it all out & then do a hot oil treatment to get my hair to feel normal again. The shampoo is good & the curling cream is great...I got some pretty little spiral curls...,but my hair cannot take Knot Today. It seems to be very astringent or something. From now on I use the curling cream ALONE or with a different leave in.

An excellent detangler, but not enough moisturizing benefit when used alone. Left my hair frizzy, dry, and parched as the Sahara. When used in conjunction with KCCC, though, is an excellent foundation product. Makes the CC glide on easier and they work together well for excellent curl definition. In addition, when used with the CC the custard balances it out to provide the much needed moisturizing effect. Will only purchase again as a companion product for the KCCC, but for days when I need a leave-in only or a leave-in to pair with another styler I'll use something else.

I really love this product. I have 4a/4b hair that is coily and this product worked beautifully. For my regimen i would have my stylist double strand twist my hair. Next throughout the course of the hairstlye life (2-3 weeks) i would have the shower water beat through my hair then apply the leave in (don't rinse). By the time the 4 week rolls around i just untwist my hair and rock a mean twist out. This product kept my hair soft and moisturized.

Won 5 curls because it makes my hair soft! So soft :) and moisturized... it works for now. I have extremely thick hair and I’ve only had it for about a week and I’ve already used 2/3 of the bottle:( Truth is since I used it, it's been a lot easier to comb through with my comb in the shower when I plan to deep condition. That first use drained about half of it. However, it is true that its detangling properties could be further improved upon. I love this product and will continue to use it, buy it and leave it in :)

This is the best product I've tried thus far! About 7 months ago, I cut off my mid-back length dreadlocs & decided to go natural. Two months into it I was SO fed up with the thickness of my unruly hair, that I chemically texturized it. Now that I'm better educated in haircare, I'm revisiting the natural thing again. This product is the ONLY thing that allows me to EASILY and PAINLESSLY comb thru the few inches of new growth. Plus, it keeps it all SO soft and surprisingly moisturized for the little amount used(even the damaged overprocessed parts). I use it as a leave-in (w/a bit of Curling Custard) & as an extra detangling boost with my regular co-wash condish. I literally can't stop touching my hair & it smells amazing! I also can't believe I'm down to a 2 step hair process now!

Kinky Curly Knot Today Conditioner is the best conditioner in the world! Knot Today may be the reason I am still natural. I was having a hard time getting even a wide tooth comb through my hair. Knot Today made detangling a snap and leaves it soft and moisturized. As long as Kinky Curly maintains their integrity and does not start tampering with the ingredients, I will be a life long customer.

I really like the knot today I think that it is a staple to the KCCC.I always use this with the kccc. Sometime when using you think that your hair is hard and crunchy it's really not it just looks that way. But after 3 and 4 days of wear your hair is very soft. Even when your not using your hair will still continue to be soft. You only have to use a little in connection with the kccc because if you use to much of both, It will leave a white sticky residue. But overall it is a great product.

When I first put this conditoner on my wet hair, I thought it was just like any other conditoner/detangler, but after I let it sit on my hair for about 5 minutes, I noticed in the mirror that my hair looked like it absorbed everything, my hair felt softer, and my curls looked plump, well hydrated. I have used other conditoners that it looked as if it sat on top of my hair, not being absorbed. Not this. I think I need to try it again to get a better feel of the product. But I also think that as I use it more, my hair will start to not be as dry and tangled. I think I will try other leave in detanglers on this website so I can make a better comparison

I have to use the Knot Today on the course section of my hair long with the KCCC. It works wonders. The only thing is my hair takes a long time to dry. Almost all day. I want to review the Kinky Curly Come Clean Shampoo but don't know how since it is not listed so I am doing it here. I haven't tried the Knot Today Conditioner but I love the shampoo.I have very dry hair and wanted a sulfate free shampoo to use every day. I don't like shampooing every few days since my hair is thin and extremely frizzy and for some reason it gets really frizzy if I just use conditioner. Anyway, this shampoo smells wonderful, a little goes a long, long way and it makes my hair unbelievably soft and moisturized. I am Caucasin but my hair is 3a and fine. This shampoo is well worth the money. When I run out of my other conditioner I might try the Kinky Curly conditioner.

I didn't have very good luck using this under anything other than the Curling Custard. That said, underneath the KCCC I get soft, defined curls that last through the next day -- in fact, this is the only thing that'll give me 2nd-day hair. While Knot Today isn't very versatile, it is fantastic at what it was made to do.

I think the purchase of this leave-in is useless without the KCCC. It's moisturizing abilities are borderline. I think it would work great for finer haired curlies that don't require as much moisture or weight as opposed to a CG with thicker hair. Way too light. I felt that it was missing the one ingredient that it is known for not having. OIL!

This product is one of the few leave-ins that makes Kinky Curly Curling Custard work like a charm for me. It also works under other gels, but the true synergy is with KCCC. It's oil-free and gives me soft, moist, clumpy curls. It's like a moisture cushion for the Curling Custard.

Excellent detangler - even better than EMBC for detangling for me.

This is a thinner conditioner which takes some getting used to. It doesn't have the slippery seaweedy feel that some would expect for a nice detangler, ut don't be fooled. This stuff melts knots and tangles. Appropriately named! Makes a nice leave in too as it is a lighter formula.

Its a good leave in, has a very slippery consistency and provides good slip to the hair. It works very well with the Curling Custard to aid in curl definition. When I tried it alone it worked well but was comparable to other leave ins I have tried. I gave it three curls for its slip and for how well it works with the custard. Oh yeah,it smells good too..If I purchase again that will be the only reason why.
