I was going to buy the Camille Rose, Curl maker, but the stores that I went to only had the original one, and from the many reviews that I read, the one with the new formula was better. So I stood in my local beauty supply store and contemplated for 20 minutes on whether I should buy it or not. I went against it and didn't get it after all and I'm glad I did. I went to Target (my love) and walked into the Aisle where they keep all the natural hair products and found Miss Jessie's Jelly soft curls sitting there. I have the coily custard and love it, and I've always wanted to try it so I picked it up because there were only 2 bottles left and everytime I go there they don't have it so it must be good right especially for $14??? Right!
I went home and didn't try it until the next day since I always wash my hair on a Sunday, so I did my normal routine. Deep condition, Wash or Co wash, then leave in oil etc.
So I proceeded my wash and go routine, because its the only style that I wear. Also note I do my wash and go while bent over forward with my hair hanging in front of me because it makes it easier I get volume, stretched curls, and it makes my wash and go only 10 minutes (who doesn't love that and yes its always defined)
Okay so on with it, first I wasn't sure how it would work alone, so I took about 2 quarter sized amounts of the Miss Jessie's coily custard, and raked that through my hair. Then I took the Jelly soft curls the same amount as the coily custard and raked that through my hair. afterwards I wrapped a t-shirt around my hair and left it on for 10 minutes. I took it off let it dry. While it was drying it looked frizzy and weird, but I went along with it, and once it was fully dry it looked a little flat and weird, but oh so soft, so I put my hair in a low ponytail(because sometimes I don't like to pineapple) and wrapped with a scarf then went to bed. The next morning I woke up took my ponytail out and sprayed with aloe vera juice mixed with some oils. shook my hair and fluffed a little. and holy cow! my hair is soft, and defined, its frizzy, but I love it when my hair is like that. Not to mention its really big. So Camille Rose I don't know if I'm going to buy this any time soon, because even though Miss Jessie's is just like Eco styler, it leaves my hair soft shiny, and not flaky, and this will be my staple of course with the coily custard.
Oh and just to make it clear I am 4a-4b if anyone wants to know. and I don't follow the instructions when it says use on damp hair. I need my hair completely went to get a great wash and go, not damp. Oh and my hair didn't really shrink up much either thanks to the coily custard.

I love this gel, its one of my favorite gels. it leaves my hair shiny and very defined. most people would like that, but i am not a huge fan of super duper duper defined curls. I like more boho messy curls. I think most people would like this, but I will use this for special occasions when I have to look classy. Anyways, it has a nice soft hold. The price is sorta reasonable, but it has a lot in it. I like it, but I don't love it-love it.

Great product. It left my curls very defined and soft as promised

I tried this product as an alternative to Pillow Soft Curls. Pillow Soft Curls has become my styler of choice. It delivers gorgeous, defined, soft curls every time. I do not usually use gels because my hair is so dry, and they seem to suck the moisture right out of my hair.I figured that Miss Jessie's Jelly Soft Curls would be the same, but I was wrong.
I bought this because I wanted something that would add volume, make my hair big and temporarily 'cancel out' my dominant curl pattern (I have 3b 'S' pattern curls at my roots and towards the middle section of my hair whereas the ends are tightly curled 3c ringlets. My 'evil' patch at the nape of my neck is probably a 2a and doesn't curl at all to till the very ends, and for some reason, that one damn section is CONSTANTLY forming dreadlocks. It's very odd). I love Pillow Soft Curls, but I do not always want a defined curl. Sometimes I want the 3b section to take over.
I've figured out how I have to use this gel. If I use this gel for a wash-n-go, I will not like the results. My hair dries in a strange shape and still retains its dominant curl pattern. What I learned is that I need to use this gel after a wash-n-go but i MUST braid my hair and leave it in a plait for at least a day. After I remove the plait and pick out my hair with an afro comb-BOOM. There it is, exactly what I wanted-moisturized, soft, big, voluminous hair. I normally do not get big hair, even when I use a pick, but for some reason with the Jelly Soft Curls, I did. I used coconut oil underneath the gel as a leave-in and spritz the plait with water at night and then once in the day. I am so, so pleased with this product. I did not use a conditioner because I had heard that Jelly Soft does not play well with other leave-ins. The coconut oil helped me a lot with moisture, I just used it very lightly.
I cannot speak to a hold because I do not pay attention to things like that. LOL! Where I live it's not humid, I have to worry about sea-fog. But I really appreciate the Jelly Soft Curls. I got great results-oh and my hair did not shrink!!!

I have been looking for something that would give me soft (but lasting) hold, shine and reduced shrinkage during the humid spring/summer months this fits the bill. The consistency and feel during application remind me of Eco Styler Crystal but the softness and shine are much longer lasting (I also find the tube more hygienic than the tub). The performance in humid weather is comparable to Ouidad Climate Control Gel but this works much better at reducing shrinkage and has a longer lasting hold. I regret that it took me so long to try this gel, if you are thinking about it I strongly encourage you to give it a try it is worth it.
My curls: 3c/b, medium/corse texture, low-normal porosity.

On day 1 this gives me bouncy, defined, frizz-free curls, but it doesn't last through to day 2. I find this gel is brilliant for having hold without crunch, but it is drying for my coarse hair. I tried using it combined with Pillow Soft Curls, but the overwhelming fragrance from both products just about asphyxiated me. Jelly Soft Curls has the same Downey scent as Pillow Soft Curls, but Jelly Soft's is less concentrated, and milder. Pillow Soft has given me raging headaches when I accidentally used too much, but the scent of Jelly Soft has yet to bother me. Jelly Soft, unlike Pillow Soft, does not detangle my hair but it does give me tighter definition. Miss Jessie's styling products are the ones I find myself purchasing again and again because they are reliable and they really do what I need. Miss Jessie's products do contain proteins, but they must be in fairly low concentration, because they don't seem to affect my hair (contrary to, for example, Deva styling products, which make my hair brittle and crackly.)

fast drying, and flake free! definitely leaves my hair feels soft. great for wash n go's and cant wait for my hair to get longer to test performance with styles.

A great gel that has a light hold, and provides a nice shine to the hair. I like using this product whenever I roller set my hair, or put my hair into twist. It also aides in detangling and smoothing my hair out. The scent is a little overpowering and smells like the scent of dryer sheets or laundry detergent. I would repurchase during a sell.

Terrible! Just as drying as ecostyler clear gel which sucks 100% of moisture from my hair... Feels good when putting on, but after it dries, my hair is a dry desert mess.

Good stuff! Could possibly replace my KCCC..no crunch or residue and kept my corkscrew curls moisturized, soft, and shiny. Used over the leave in condish and the two scents together were fab!

I received a sample packet from a recent curlmart.com purchase. And, I must say I am pleasantly surprised. This is nothing like the Curly Pudding (which I have a hard time believing people still buy). Jelly Soft Curls is not greasy and it is not drying. It does seem rather thick while applying it...a little goes a long way. Ive used it twice...have one or two more uses left just from the packet. I will probably buy this and maybe even try the pillow soft curls. Overall happily shocked!

I like this a lot, but it won't be replacing my Pillow Soft Curls. My hair is too dry to use Jelly Soft Curls without a leave-in conditioner, but with a leave-in Jelly Soft won't set well without adding Quick Curls. Pillow Soft Curls works as a leave-in and a styler for my super dry, coarse 3b hair. I think the problem is the dryness of my hair, though, and not this product. Miss Jessie's have become my staples because they're faster, easier, and more effective than so many other lines. Sometimes I have to be careful with "protein overload", but for the most part this line is good to my hair.

Definition, body, bounce, and shine is what this product delivers to your curls. The next day, it was still defined, shine was still there, and still had the bounce and body. And, no white residue as when I used the Pillow Soft Curls.
The scent is a mild "Downey" scent such that someone has to be close to you to notice the scent. The gel is clear and thick, but spreads easily in your hair. If your hair is naturally dry, just make sure that your conditioner is moisturizing or use a leave-in. The steam from the shower can also add any additional moisture you may need.
