I got this product as a sample and I must say it defined my curls very well. I used gel to get my hair to hold since I have a twa coarse and dense hair. A little did go a long way, to conclude my hair is crunch and flake free.

I am a 3b/3c type product junkie and I love wash and go. I tried this after reading the reviews and was highly disappointed. Producted dried crunchy and my hair did not feel moisturized. To make matters worse the product flaked, so embarrassing.

    I love this stuff!
My hair has a natural curl pattern but because I wear my hair relaxed/straight, I don't always get that "curly look." I wash my hair a lot because I work out so much and with short hair I just need to be able to wash and go. This curly custard got the curls going and HELD them. Like the other user mentioned, a little goes a long way and it takes a minute to find how much you need. I mix it with the Mop Top leave in conditioner (my hair is dry), go through it with my fingers and let it dry while I sleep. In the morning, I'm ready to go. This, along with the Mop Top cleansing conditioner is my new go to.

I have 3c/4a hair which can get very frizzy especially with the change in the weather. I tried this gel and used it like I use other curly custards. Based on that I figured a little goes a long way. The first time I used it I just took handfuls and applied it to my hair and it looked good the first day and then got flaky on me. Then I retried it figuring a little goes a long way. I sectioned my hair in fourths and started to apply a little pea size to each section. It worked GREAT that way. Even though I have thick hair you don't want to overuse this product otherwise you won't get the results you desire.

This is a great gel!!! I decided to try it because of the many reviews that talk about its performance in humid conditions and I was not disappointed. I have used this for almost a month now and even in light drizzle this gel kept my curls looking great! It is very moisturizing and really encourages my curl; my 3c/b curls form perfect ringlets on the end with this stuff. The one con I have is that it needs to be applied to very wet hair or else it flaks somewhat (nothing that is noticeable to others but flakes all the same). This is a problem because the gel adds a LOT of moisture to the hair so I have to sit under a dryer and/or diffuse otherwise my hair is sopping wet, I have started to wash my hair at night to counter this. Other than that this gel is darn near perfect (darn near because I also wish it didn't come in a jar)!

I received this product as a sample from Curt Mart. A couple days ago I decided to give it and try and was shocked at how happy I was with the results. I have fine, mostly 2C (with a bit of 3A) hair and feel this custard coaxes the most out of my curls. It smells wonderful and has a lot of hold. It's my favorite styling product thus far.

I have 3 B hair medium length and this product is really a great addition to my hair care. I like the fragrance of a lemon lime soda. It is refreshing. I used it to define my curls after condition washing and Kinky Curly Knot today leave in. It Is a good strong gel and leaves my hair very soft. I try and use just enough or it may get too stiff. I also put the curl keeper on top so the curls stay shiny. Would definatley repurchase. I give it 5 curlies.

Type 3 B, love the light citrus frangrance. Also My curls were shiny after drying but a little dry after diffusing them. I had to add a little more afterwards. It was very soft to the touch. I would repurchase. 2nd day hair I had to add some deva curl gel spray to revive it. Overall it is a nice product. I give it 4 curls.

I just tried a sample of Mop Top Curly Hair Custard for the first time and I love it! I have very long curly hair and this product elongated and defined my curls. I even tried it on a very humid and rainy day and it stayed frizz free and manageable. Plus I love the smell, very citrusy and light.

Curly Custard is their best product! I am a huge Mop Top fan. I use their shampoo and daily conditioner and I did use the gel until this custard came out. I've never seen flakes and it's never crunchy as long as you scrunch after it's dry. I'll wash my hair, put on conditioner (and actually started leaving theirs on). And while everything is nice and sopping wet, I will add the CurlKeeper, and then I add the Custard for the finishing touch. I barely scrunch with a t-shirt and let everything air dry. and you know how that window of opportunity is, right? Well just when it's almost dry, I scrunch, floof, and then let it go. And it's been fabulous.

I initially had issues with flakiness even though my curls looked great. But the flakiness was really gobs and gobs of dandruff all over my shoulders and falling out of my hair. Yecch. I tried several conditioner under the gel to no avail. Then I tried the gel on bare hair and no flakes! But no definition either. This morning I decided to try Knot Today under the gel. Great definition and NO FLAKINESS!!!! Just soft, fluffy, defined hair. YAY!
Would I recommend MopTop Curly Custard? Only on top of KT. Because of this I'm only giving it 3 stars as I believe a good gel should get along with a variety of conditioners.

I actually have products that work great for my hair, but I've been looking for something that washes out a little easier. I use AG Re:coil and mop top light hold gel. The AG is great but it tends to build up on my hair a bit. I got this curly custard as one of my free samples with an order and I gave it a try. When I first tried it, I loved it. It held my curls nicely without weighing them down. By the end of the day, though, I had white stuff all over my hair. I guess maybe if you don't touch your hair, it won't flake like this. But I didn't like the crunch so I scrunched it occasionally throughout the day.

This product is SUPER AWESOME for 4a hair if you want frizz, shiny curls. I didn't think it would work at first, but I am very pleasantly surprised. It's clear MopTop tested it on afro-textured coilies, as well as the silkier textures and they did a fabulous job. I am devotee for as long as they do not change the formula. Yes, it leaves a little crunch, but I don't care about that. You can use a leave-in to combat and adjust your amounts accordingly.

I have use many producst and this is by far the best the other weasnt bad, but this is the best... I love the look it gived me. I like I can use it on dry hair. in the summer I can wash my hair in the morning then go. you can't do that in the winter. but curls are there... I must say it give a little flake but if you use the peppermint tea tree from Eden. its good. I love it !!!!!

I have tight 3c curls and was super surprised when this worked on loose hair and my twists as sort of a styling pomade (that kept frizz away for longer than a week, which NEVER happens). You do need to use it on wet hair, and literally, just need to run your fingertip across the top. You need so little of this stuff that it's mindblowing because that tiny bit really does work. I've used it multiple times, on its own, with other Moptop products, with other products, and I've never had a problem. No buildup, no flaking (or the other half would have complained because he hates flakes). Actually, he asked what was it that I'd used and told me to keep using it. So yeah, literally a fingertip dab is all I need for each section. I think I use half an ounce at a time, so this jar does last quite a while.

Left me with hard crunchy hair and I also have a white/ashy film on my hair so no shine or softness at all. And I didn't even use a lot of product, probably like a nickel size for each section (I had 6 sections).

I absolutely adore this product! It provides the perfect amount of hold for my 3b-3c (low porosity, high density, fine to medium) curls and the curl definition & shine is absolutely INSANE on this product. The sea weed extracts also moisturize my hair a great deal and even in wet weather that normally turns me into a poofy poodle it maintains its hold. Colour me impressed! I had received two sample of this product with my previous orders and I love it so much that I already ordered a full sized tub so I can add it to my daily hair routine.

As mentioned on the product, and in another review though: you have to make sure to apply it to WET hair, not to DAMP hair. I spritz my hair until it is close to being soaked before I comb it, then I apply Mop Top and thereafter I comb my hair again with a WET hair brush. I haven't had any problems with flakes or crusts whatsoever yet!

I have tried several products on my hair and I have to say this is the best one! I love the way it makes my hair feel and doesn't leave me with flakes or dryness
it also works so well in moist weather when my hair is the worst and the frizz is usually uncontrollable. I am so very happy with this product

My sister got a sample of this when she ordered a product from this site. She doesn't have curly hair, so she gave it to me to try. I'm officially in love with this product. It eliminates tangles, smooths unruly curls, and has great hold And moisture. I'm a low porosity curly of multiethnic descent with high density, medium to coarse texture, tightly curly hair. The curly custard is very lightweight and dries quickly which is a plus since it has to be used on wet hair...and they do mean WET not damp. It also elongates a bit which is huge for me. So far, I've only used it for a wash and go. I may try a braid out next. After I rinse the conditioner and a little bit of the oil from my oil rinse out of my curls, I smooth it into each curl in sections and I'm good to go. No frizz here...though frizz is usually not an issue even though I live in a crazy omg why is it so sticky humid place.

I got this product as a sample and I didn't like it at all. The consistency is like thick mucus and it smells like medicine. It made my hair EXTREMELY crunchy and when I tried to scrunch it out all I got was frizz. My curls did not feel soft and touchable at all. If you're looking for a very strong hold product, I guess this is it but I hated it.

Love this product! It has a somewhat wet texture which works on my hair to keep the strands together and controlled (no frizz). I get really clean, wavy curls when using this - more so than any other product I've tried. Big fan!

I did not like this product at all. It left my hair very dry and flaky. There were actual white patches in my hair, as if there were sand in my hair. Will not use again!!!

Ugghh.....considering I already use a leave-in (As I Am) and a curl enhancing cream (Shea Moisture), I wanted to use this to seal the ends and prevent frizz in high humidity here in Hotlanta. It seems it is basically a condensed version of their leave-in, which is off the same clear looking consistency, but this custard has a gel component. Boy, did it make my hair crunchy! Even with leave-in and the cream, it still made every strand crispy, just like any old gel would do. I am scared to use it again for fear of crispy curls again. This may be better for thicker hair with more kink than curl, as my hair is on the finer side. I will let me mom try it who has very frizzy kinky hair and get back to you!

I have 3c hair, I really wanted this to work for me. I stalked it until curlmart got it back in stock. The one thing it does do is elongate more than other gels and custards. However, my hair was really frizzy with this product and it was also crunchy. I didnt get that soft hold they promised. It also doesnt mix well with other products I got some white residue the next day when I added some camille rose curl love to soften it up and get rid of the frizz. As many of us know curl love mixes well with almost everything. Luckily I was able to get rid of the white residue. Maybe next time I'll try it on soaking wet hair. I just dont know if I want to waste my time on a third try.

I am in love with this product! The very first time I used it I received ton of compliments on my curls. It gave my curls shine and definition. I scrunch to soften the cast and still my hair lasted three days before I washed it and still received compliments on the third day!

My hair stayed defined, elongated, and shiny--even in high humidity! The scent in the jar is fresh, but hardly any scent while in your hair. If you are heavy-handed, just put some water on your hair or let the steam from the shower soften it. You can even use a light spritz on it. I've use it with and without a leave-in, and there is no residue. A little bit goes a long way, so this will last for some time. While in an area with high humidity (85% and it started to drizzle), I deliberately put extra product in my hair. No frizz or even a hint, and my wash-n-go lasted 6 days. On the last day, I began to see a little frizz. What I didn't expect was the elongation that lasted 6 days as well--basically the same as when it was wet. My hair is highly porous and very dry.
