Definitely doesn't add any moisture! But, I still love it. Here's what I do...on clean, damp hair, a little Curl Enhancing Smoothie (for moisture), then the Curl Boosting Jelly, following by your favorite sealing oil! At least this is what I just did, hope it works again next time!!! :)

LOVE IT! LOVEIT! LUUUUUVVVV IT! I've been using this for about 2 yrs now. I try new products periodically but I always come back to this. Yes it can make your hair crunchy without proper moisture. I layer with Indian Hemp Growth serum, then a leave in (Mixed Chicks), then coconut oil. I add my Curls Unleashed jelly and the for the last step I use JBCO. I do this with ANY product that I try.

This product has let me further know that I have to stay away from gel. Lol this can't be paired with a lot of leave in because you'll get a white film. Ugh. Does anyone want to buy it from me? Only used it once lol

I loooove this jelly! Made my 4c hair pop simply after finger-raking into wet hair.

I loved this product! I put off purchasing it because the description said that it provided a light to medium hold which I didn't think would be effective for my kinky coily hair. After fighting with Eco Styler gels due to the "crunch" they provide, I decided to try this product and I love it! Unlike the other reviewers, I applied this product to my hair after towel and air-drying my hair until it was about 70% dry. I used the leave-in, a shea butter & olive oil mix, and then applied this jelly and my curls popped immediately! The only downfall was that after it did not really eliminate frizz but I still it has become a staple.

Dried my hair out, made it feel like straw wouldn't recommended for coarse/thick highly porous 4a hair. It also shrank my hair more than I have ever seen my hair shrink. Waste of money

This product does work. It has been a challenge to get the wash and go style to work successfully for my type 4 hair. I'm also in the awkward stage after a big chop in 2012 and a mini chop a few months ago. I was pleasantly surprised when my coils literally began to form upon product application and distribution with my Denman brush. This product has cones but I don't care! It performs and will remain in my rotation. You also get a lot of product for the price. 4 stars - this product does not mix/layer well with other products.

This dries my hair out and makes my curls stringy and stiff. Three day hair is left with tiny flakes all over. My hair just looks like a bush from day 2 onward. It seems that this should be a winner and I know that many like it, but it just doesn't work for me.

I love this product!I have a mix of 4a/4b/4c (there's a lot going on in these locks) hair, so it's been a task finding products that not only define my curls but eliminate the frizz from that 4c section of hair I have at the top of my head. I used this product on freshly shampooed and conditioned hair. Left my hair soaking wet, sectioned it off into about 8 sections. I mixed this product with a little bit of Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie and shingled my hair. A little bit of the Curling Jelly goes a long way! But, if you're like me and have several different types of curls, I used more or less depending on the section I was working with (i.e. more on the areas that were more frizzy than curly). After I finished shingling, I dried my hair a bit using a diffuser and stretched it out while doing this. My hair was really soft, shiny, and curls were very defined without that annoying crunch I've gotten from pther products. The only thing I'll probably do differently is add a little bit of oil (olive, coconut, tea tree, or the sort) so my hair stays moisturized days after styling. I will certainly be using this product again and buying in bulk of possible :-)

Some of the other reviewers mentioned they had build up, or dried out hair after using this product. Maybe it's because their hair wasn't soaking wet, or they used this product without any moisturizer or leave-in conditioner? I know my hair always comes out best when I style it while it's soaking wet.

4a/4b hair - I used this product for a twistout and it gave me flakes like nothing else - when I shook my head it was like one of those snow globes! I had to emergency wash my hair and then was late for an important meeting. Not cool. I used it on damp, clean hair and on top of a leave in conditioner so maybe it was the mix of products, I don't know. I will try it a couple more times but for now, MAJOR side-eye from me.

This product was not love at first sight. But when i finally figured out how to use this bad boy. it is heaven in my hair. I use this on wet hair and i will usually do coils or twistouts. Although this is a gel form of a curling product this product did not make my hair stickyy or hard. I had extremely soft and defined curls. I could not keep my hand out of my head. the consistency is similar to a gel and is not runny but also not extremely thick. The smell is okay i honeslty havent noticed it lingering after application. I would definelty purchase this product again.

I'm not a fan of gel but I decided to give this a try anyway. What a disappointment!! It dried my hair the first time I used it and made it even worse the second time. It smells weird and left my hair feeling crunchy and a bit sticky. The crunch disappeared when I used a diffuser but my hair felt dull, dry and yucky. It's already in the trash :(

    I'm a 3a.

What a disappointment! This product claims to define curls and eliminate frizz..."WRONG". What it definitely does is the following: Flakes, causes Dryness to hair, undesirable Stiffness, and it is Tacky to the touch. As mentioned by previous reviewers, it "Does" cause shrinkage and smells pretty weird. What a waste of money!

I have a mix of 3b/3c hair. At first it was pretty decent. It definitely causes shrinkage. It's not bad and it doesn't weigh my hair down. However it doesn't really define my curls the way I want it to. It does keep the fizz away though which is good for the days I want my hair to be tamed. I used it on top of a leave in conditioner. It is okay it's nothing great or worth buying a second time though

I was so excited about this these products and I'm sorry to say that it TOTALLY let me down. My hair not only shrank; (which I didn't want, and it claimed it would'nt do,) but all it did was give my hair a nice smell. I believe it's better suited for women with looser curl in their hair because it certainly doesn't work on my cottony-soft, tightly-coiled hair! I'm so angry that I spent the money on it!

I love the Curls Unleashed Curl Boosting Jelly. I just added a review for their Take Command Curl Creme, but neglected to mention that I have 3c curls. The product does exactly as advertised! My hair is plagued by dryness, and a lack of definition to the curls. The Jelly solved BOTH problems, as it added instant shine, and a supple feel to my curls. Every curl is defined and it gives me the hold and control I need for my style, without the crunchy, hard, dry feeling to my hair that many gels produce.
I applied the Curl Creme and put my hair in two stand twists the night before. In the morning, I wet my hands, and combined some leave in conditioner and a little bit of the curl creme to the roots. The rest of the hair, I smoothed with a bit of water, some leave in, and the Curl Boosting Jelly. A little goes a long way, no need to apply a lot of product to get it to work. I scrunched my curls, a voila! My hair was defined, with shine, softness, and control. I love this product, and recommend its use.

Did not boost a curl on my hair, smelled funny, felt tacky, and I didn't like how it made hair feel afterwards. Not a jelly fan.

I am guessing that I was a bit heavy handed with this gel because it left my hair just a tad bit crunchy and it didn't define my curls/coils as the Eco Styler gel does. I kind of rushed with my so called "wash and go" without sectioning off my hair while adding the product. I still have the rest of the product laying with the rest of my stash, I think I will give it a try one more time this summer. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

This was a real surprise/eye opener for me! I'm generally not a fan of gels/jellies; I'm skeptical of claims that they won't leave your hair crunchy. But amazingly, this did not leave my hair crunchy! It was shiny, my curls were well defined, and it gave them some stretch too!

I love this product! It defined my curls with no flaking, crunch or stickiness. The smell is ok and it does exactly what it says! :-)

I received this product in a goody bag at the Texture on the Runway event here in NYC...and used it one day when I ran out of my normal stuff. I love it for my wash & go's!! I love the texture, smell and how it defines my curls without leaving my hair crunchy. This has been the only product that I've tried so far that allows me to have two day old hair. It is very heavy and doesn't give me much definition on the top of my head which is sort of a weird 3b/3c pattern.

This product did make my hair crunchy, and it also felt rather dry once it set. I don't think I used too much because I barely put a dent in it. Like someone else said, a little goes a long way with this product. I did 2-stranded twists and my curls lasted longer than usual, so that was one thing I liked about this product. I will use it again just to see if I get different results by making a few adjustments. Also, it smells really good.

I think the problem may be that my roots are 4a, but the other parts of my hair are 3c. I have no problem with curl definition, but I do have a problem with frizz and taming my roots.

I really like this gel and it is a great price for jar size.....I little does go along way... I applied the gel in sections after shampooing, conditioning, and appying leave in.....I like two strand twist on my hair with twist out next day...it worked GREAT even though it felt a little greasy while doing my twist formation....when my hair became dry (air only no heat)...the greasy feeling was no longer an issue...my hair felt soft and moisturized with curl definitiion usually I would receive a very dry outcome with other products.....will definitely by again and refere to others.

Just an update to my previous post: be careful not to use too much product. There will be flakes if you go overboard. I part my hair in fours, then section each fourth into fours. So in all I have 16 fat twists. I suggest you use 1/2 teaspoon per twist. Good luck!

This stuff is pretty amazing! I used it with the leave-in for my twist out and it came out perfectly defined, bouncy, shiny, and super soft. The only reason I gave it 4 curls instead of 5 is because I feel a slight greasiness on my hair. I don't like that! Other than that it's an overall great product. It smells good too!
