When I first big chopped, this worked OK for me because there wasn't much hair to finger roll, I just needed something to define and moisturize my very curly hair. However, when going through the changes of such a big change with a BC, some products that worked at one phase, may not work in the next. My hair grows extremely fast & as I begin to approach 1 month, with much bigger curls and more hair, this product really weighed my hair down making it very defined, but very hard. I will say, with a short cut it is AWESOME with the Leave In Conditioner as a cocktail if you're all about definition and not necessarily the softness of the curl. I realize the heat of where I am located could also play a part, but the products I've returned to )Shea Moisture) have yet to fail me. This was a try out just to do something different. So maybe for the very beginning of a very low cut, yes--but for my type of hair, it can get defined yet crunchy and hard as hair grows in.

Expected this to be a moisturizing cream but after using it in my hair, I didn't understand the point of this product at all. I used it over clean hair and it dried my curls out leaving them straw like. Complete waste of money.

This product was alright. It felt more on the pudding side and I'm not crazy about the smell. Although it gave me fairly good definition, I feel like this product dried out my 3b/3c hair.

Love this product! I get great definition when I use this for wash and go's and twist/braid outs. The best part is that once my hair begins to feel dry, I simply spritz it with water, and this creme reactivates in my hair. I never have to apply more between washes.

I have 4c hair. Upon seeing the ingredients, I was excited, but it left my hair feeling like straw and couldn't hold a twist out at all. I tried it a second time, because I thought it was just some mistake, but nope, happened again. It left my hair as a dry, frizzy mess. I ended up washing it out of my hair ASAP both times. The smell is wonderful though.

My curls were not defined at all. They would easily frizz regardless of how much creme I put on them.

I have been looking for many hair care products trying to find the right one. I am most likely a 2c, and was dying to try out hair creams for a change from my regular gels. I searched high and low and finally came across this at Wal-Mart and decided to buy it. The first time I used it, I diffused my hair since at times i dont like to let it air dry, and my curls were beautiful. Shiny and lots of volume, it did how ever make my hair feel a little more course/dry than usual and weighed my hair down on the second day. Can become frizzy. Second time around, I air dryed and it made my hair flat and and hard almost like gel and at one point was hard to detangle my hair. Not a horrible product, but too much made it too dry. Still going to give it a try.

This products smells amazing, does a great job at moisurizing and defining my curls but only when used in conjuction with other products. If just used alone, it tends to leave my hair 'looking' dry. I first moisturize my hair with an ElastaQP moisturizer, add the curl creme, then seal with coconut oil, this is the only way the product works for me. I don't use this for my wash n go's since it does create shrinkage although it says 'without shrinkage'.

I have a 4c hair texture. This product is a pretty thick creme that smells and works great. I was able to get a good amount of hold and definition with braid & twist outs and bantu knots. It also retained length as long as you don't use too much of the product. Only notable con was that my hair did not feel moisturized.

First off I really like the texture and smell of this product. The texture reminds me of whipped yogurt and feels like a light product. The only thing I noticed is that it dried my hair out! I used it mixed with curl keeper for a week and my hair felt dry and brittle. I'm not sure if this is CG approved or not and maybe that's why I felt dryness.

I got awesome braid outs and twist outs with this product. It performs to every claim it makes. Type 4 naturals have to deal with a lot of shrinkage. I actually got the elongation with this product! I was so happy with my results. You also receive a lot of product for the money. 3 Stars - The smell was horrible! ORS really got this part wrong. I can't believe they put such a well performing product on the shelves with a horrible fragrance. This would be a staple product if it weren't for the smell. No matter how much I tried to get past the smell I couldn't. Therefore, I will not repurchase.

I really really like this creme. It looks so nice once it dries a little. The cream seems to plump my hair up and makes my curls defined and shiny! The only drawback is that it takes so long to dry and you may have little white clumps in your hair until it does dry. Once it's dry, it looks amazing though. Next day hair is possible too!

This did a good job of moisturizing my hair but only did an ok job of defining my curls for my wash-n-go. I used it for my twist out and found that it worked much better for that.

I got this on sale for $2 at Walgreens. It was on clearance. This product does not contain parabens but it contains silicones and dimethicones. However, it has some natural ingredients high up on the list, and it promised to define and elongate my curls. Elongation is my problem, because my hair shrinks up A LOT. I was pleased when this product actually did what it said it did. I used it in combo with Shea Moisture Shea Butter & Argan Oil Reconstructing Conditioner (a mistake since now whenever I use this conditioner it tends to leave my hair feeling greasy and coated) and some Jojoba Oil. I did a half-braid out and curled the ends with perm rods and loved my hair the next day. Defined, beautiful curls with ELONGATION, but the only problem was that my hair was left so, so, so weighed down and greasy feeling. I washed it out and tried again (minus Jojoba and instead using Say Yes! To Carrots Leave in Conditioner) and got the same results. This also seemed to increase my shedding. Every day that I would run my hands through my hair to give it more volume and break up the curls (I like the slightly frizzy, messed up look) I would find long, long strands of hair clinging to my greasy, residue replete hands. Gross. It seems like EVERYTHING is too heavy for my baby fine curls. I'm going to try the Cantu Shea Butter Leave In Conditioner as a styler and see if that works-otherwise i'll try to find ways to work with this because it is honestly the only thing that has given me results that i'm even slightly pleased with.

This product was not the best for my hair. I didn't like how much it did not prevent hair shrinkage. I also noticed my hair does not get as moisturized as it does with a few other products. I would not purchase this product again unless it's my last resort.

I gave this product a 4 becuase of the hold. However if this is not applied to damp or wet hair it will cause flakes. the first time i used it i thought i had really bad dandruff. After a co-wash and the LOC method i mixed this with some olive oil and got better results and curls that were nice and fluffy. This product was okay but i am not sure that i will re-purchase in the future. The smell of this product was awesome and the consistency of it was similar to a hair butter.

I really did not truly like this product. One, it does not cut shrinkage too much after it is dried out. I think it smells nice, and gives hair a nice shine without looking greasy. I would recommend for looser hair than 3c

I have to change up my products quite a bit because my hair has ADHD (no offense to anyone out there). I bought this at CVS, and I am thrilled with the results. I agree with other reviews that the smell is not my favorite, but better than most of the Oyin products. After I co-wash my hair and rinse out the conditioner, I put this in, wrap a cloth around my head, and let it sit there for a while. The next morning, my hair is incredibly soft and moisturized. For me, it doesn't work when I put it in my dry hair, but for a conditioner, it works brilliantly.

I love this product! I apply this to my hair after every wash for my twist. It has a great hold, and my curls last all day and they aren't too greasy. I will be purchasing this product again!

I love this stuff! I tried it for the first time along with the leave in conditioner and was blown away! My hair was super soft, shiny and shingled easily without much manipulation! I will never use another product ever again!

I purchased his product because I was trying to move away from gels - now that my hair is long. I don't have a strong curl pattern to my hair. This product did very little to define my curls, but I loved the shine and softness that it gave my hair. I also tried it under the Curls Unleashed Curl Boosting Jelly, and it was just okay. I have a lot of shrinkage, and this product does help to elongate. I untwisted 4 day old twists, and applied this product directly on my hair, underneath my Fantasia IC Hair Polisher Styling Gel. With the toothbrush, this helped me to super-smooth my edges, gave my hair a "relaxed" look, and my hair was less crunchy. This was not cheap, so I will not throw it away. I will continue to experiment. Not sure if I will keep on my favorite products list, so not sure if I would purchase again.

well i wanted to get some eco styler gel and my mom saw this and she bought it. That's how i found it. Too bad it was the day before thanksgiving, and my mom wanted to do my hair the next day.Not the best choice. My curls were defined but not the way i wanted it. The smell was WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY to strong. I still use it and im sorta used to it. I only use it to help define my curls when i use eco styler. You can either mix that with olive oil and gel ar let it dry or else you gel this flaky thing.

I have a 4C twa. This product is amazing! I used it after cowashing my hair (while in twist) with Suave Coconut Conditioner & Tea Tree Oil, rinsing (with the twist that didn't fall out), then 3-Minute deep conditioning with Aussie Moist 3-Minute Deep Conditioner. After all that I used some doo-gro anti itch oil and coconut oil then applied some Cantu Leave In conditioner through out my whole head.
Then I start twisting & retwisting with using just a little of the Curl Unleashed Curl define creme and it really does what it says. I used it while my hair was dripping wet and I used a spray bottle filled with water when my hair started to dry.
The next day I un-twisted my twa.
Finally something that keeps my hair moisturized and not flaky or crunchy (I hate gels). Great definition and really does elongate your tresses.
Remember a little goes a long way and the jar is pretty sizable. And me being a broke community college student I'm telling all 4Cers who do not know how to define their fros and keep them moisturized should TRY this product. You can always return it if not satisfied.

Great for twist out's and great texture. It defines curls nicely, however the smell is strong and unpleasant. Big jar so it will last you awhile cuz a little goes a long way. I might not buy it again due to the smell :(

This is my first jar and so far I have about a third of the jar left. I use this product to do my braidouts on freshly washed hair, I let them dry overnight and take them down in the morning. The product about 90% of the time is not 100% dry when I wakeup in the morning. So whatever area (mainly my roots or my relaxed ends) one or the other will still be damp will lose the definition from the braid once it does dry, which creates frizz or volume. I like the results but I do not like that it takes so long to dry, and it takes even LONGER when I use coconut oil to seal and then use this product to style. The smell is HORRIBLE, I really can't describe what it is but it is disgusting. This jar will be the first and last that I purchase, Im looking for something else for my transitioning 3c curls.

Ick. This product made my hair feel like straw. It was so gross that within a few hours I had to wash it all out (and I added a leave-in conditioner to apologize to my hair for what I had done to it). I tried this a second time with the same results (and the same type of apology to my hair). I bought this because I saw it at Walgreens and was hoping to find something that would be available locally and not too expensive. It seems to work for others but my hair just didn't like it.

I love this product! I had almost 2 inches taken off of my curly hair, and have adopted a short, curly look much like the actress, Jasika Nicole. I have had many compliments, but I had to deal with my curls being dry, and lacking definition. I received a sales flyer from Sally's Beauty supply, and saw that they were selling the full line of Curls Unleashed products. I liked the packaging, and I went online and did a little research. I immediately went to Sally's and got the Curl Defining Creme, along with their Set It Off Curl Boosting Jelly. That night I applied the creme sparingly and set my hair in two strand twists. As I was applying the product, I noticed an immediate improvement in the look and feel of my hair. I was still a bit nervous, because as one reviewer here stated, many products go on soft, and the hair takes to it well, but the next day, the hair can be dried out. In the morning, when I loosened the twists, my hair was noticeably soft to the touch! There was no hint of dryness!
I wet my hands with a bit of water, and proceeded to mix some leave in conditioner with a bit more of the Curl Defining Creme, and my hair is soft, well defined and lovely! It looks hydrated and shiny, I am very pleased with the product, and would recommend it highly. The price is $14.99 at Sally's but with the 16oz size, you get plenty of product, so it is worth the price. A little goes a long way, because it does have a bit of a greasy feel. As long as you do not use too much, it is fabulous because it replenishes the hair with much needed moisture. I definitely will continue to use this product.

Love this creme for my 3B hair type it keeps it soft and doesn't weigh my curls down like most products do and you really don't have to use that much so this one 16 oz container will last you a long time. I pair it with a volume boosting heat protectant mousse so I don't have to worry about frizz while diffusing my curls. I tried it for the first time after I did a deep treatment with Cream of nature argan oil the previous night and it worked AMAZING together. The combination of the two kept my hair soo soft and like the name is called Curls unleashed my curls were flowing everywhere and had nothing to hold them down. This creme is definitely a good buy, just dont plan on using it alone or with the matching mousse it needs a lil kick like with the product I stated. Would've given 5 curls if it were good alone with the curls unleashed mousse.

A friend bought this for me by mistake so I tried it. I wouldn't have bought based on the mixed reviews but I must say I love it. It leaves my curls nice & frizz free. I didn't think it had much of a smell at all to it. I will see how my hair reacts to the silicone's but so far so good. No crunch and my hair doesn't look dry. My hair is a combo of 3c/4a.

I did like this product. It does what it says probably because it's mostly cones. For the results I got I was willing to overlook that and just use it for those extra frizzy days and be sure to use a sulfate shampoo. My problem is the smell. It seems very chemical and perfume like to the point where it choked me. After having it in my hair for a couple of hours it was still just as strong and I had to wash it out. Never got the chance to see how it would hold up overnight.

This was a wonderfully thick and rich cream. It felt like I was really treating my tresses when I used this. It left my curls so soft, so moisturized, so shiny and bouncy; I loved it! And there is so much of it, but you don't need a lot to get good results, so it's really a wonderful product all around!

I love this product! I've been natural for 3 years and have been on a continual quest to find the perfect product for my 3b/3c hair. For me, perfect is one that retains the natural softness of my hair; defines and elongates my curls; isn't flaky; doesn't leave my hair hard or tacky; won't leave my hair frizzy; allows my hair to "move" and finally--would work well enough to do all of these things without having to use several products each morning. This product does exactly ALL of these things! For the first time ever, I am using this product alone and nothing else. The first time I used it I applied way too much because I'm so accustomed to piling on product. It worked well, but it left if very greasy. The next morning I washed it and reapplied to damp hair. This time I applied about a quarter-size amount to my shoulder-length hair and worked it through my hair ends to roots, running my fingers through to detangle and separate the curls. Then, I applied tiny amounts to areas that I had missed. Now, my hair dries so much faster because it's not layered in product and the curls are elongated the way they are when I diffuse. Well worth the money!

wow, great product. I have tried almost every natural hair product for my daughters 4a hair and nothing has been able to moisturize it until now. Most products go on very soft and moisturizing and later become hard and dry. This almost seemed to change her texture. Her hair went from being dry and frizzy to soft, shiny and curly in a matter of minutes. Try it, you will not be disappointed. Worth the money and you get 16oz for the price. A little goes a long way also.
